I've been waiting for them to make another fetch spell for just LAND not basic land. now all decks can thrive and not just green, haha.

Awesome card if your build leans on some nonbasic lands.

you know this land can be quite handy now that tolarian academy is restricted in legacy rather then banned id pay 2 to fetch it why not.

At first glance it's a suckier version of Armillary Sphere or Wayfarer's Bauble, but notice that it lets you tutor any land, not just Basic. You can use it to fetch a fetch land and get your landfall in high gear. Plus you can play this on turn 1 if you have nothing better to do.

I've started using this to search for dark depths cuz I only have one in my deck.

Wayferer's Bauble won't help you collect the Urzatron you know...
A solid, much-needed artifact. 4/5

This is stupid compared to Wayfarer's Bauble.

*Edit
Wow. I completely missed the nonbasic land aspect of this card. In retrospect, I was obviously hasty. This is way more than a functional reprint of the Bauble.

Isn't it redundant to tap it ?

Well, this card is good, and is going to get even better, used to find DD before, now it will search for the "Eye" also. Chtulu is calling and i'm gonna build my first blue deck to fight them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An incredible card for a common. It let's you fetch ANY land in your deck, and is an artifact so it can be put into any deck with that contains a crucial non-basic land. I'd consider running a couple in a Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle deck to increase the odds that you get said land.

Many people overlooked the tempo Wayfarer's Bauble provides. With Expedition Map, you grab the land but it goes to your hand, but with Bauble it goes directly into play. Since both trinkets could be activated at the end of your opponent's turn, Wayfarer gives more speed.

But this card's art is better :)

Since it is a 1-drop, this guy definitely seems worth it. Being able to rummage around in your deck and come up with your Crypt of Agadeem sounds excellent to me.

Feliciano: Not really, because this way a canny opponent with Relic Barrier can keep it under control.

@count_dorku

Relic Barrier's ability (T: Tap target artifact.) still allows you to use Expedition Map'sability as a response.

Orb of dreams however allows you to delay Expedition Map's ability for 1 turn. But considering they can play this on turn 1 and then use the ability turn 2. It wouldn't be that much effective as a counter.

I like the idea of finding Strip Mine type lands with this in casual.

For the casual gamer, this guy goes with Cloudpost & Glimmerpost to form the best land based mana ramp Magic has to offer. I've spit out Ulamog's Crusher on turn 4, while gaining 6 life in the process (thats from dropping lands, crazy) spit out Artisan of Kozilek after they Doom Blade the Crusher and watch them cringe when both come out.

Personally love all of that in red, because one cost burns next to x-burns go really well with the deck, & I also happen to like having an Iron Myr beating on my friends with a trigon of rage while they hold onto control in fear of the eldrazi, but the deck works in any number of colors.

White seems like it could offer a whole lot, with Martial Coup & White Sun's Zenith as other finishers.

Sure you can search ANY land, but unless your deck is centered on it, it's just deck space taken up. And a couple lands to hand a good mana-ramp does not make. Valakut should be only tier 1 deck using this... And it kinda is...

I find it useful to both turn on metalcraft while I need it (as I type this both Zen and Scars are in standard) and then fetch me Contested War Zone after all of my Squadron Hawks have hit the board >:-)

Land definitely matters, and this card will show you why.

No one has mentioned that this is a Trinket Mage target. I run one Expedition Map along with three Trinket Mages and that allows my Mages to fetch up any land in my deck in addition to their regular targets. Usually my Mages will either fetch a Darksteel Axe if I already have a creature in play, or if I'm in need of a creature they'll fetch an Inkmoth Nexus or a Creeping Tar Pit via Expedition Map. Alternately, they can fetch an Elixir if I'm hurting for life, Chalice if I need mana ramp, or Effigy if I need removal. The only thing that was really missing was being able to fetch creatures, but the Map enables that nicely.

The tapping is not redundant. There are plenty of cards that prevent things from untapping(e.g.Rust Tick, or even punish you for tapping (e.g. Relic Putrescence), during your turn.

Rare, yes. Redundant, no.

Absolutely amazing in EDH when you need that Cabal Coffers, that Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, or that Gaea's Cradle right now.

I fall into the group of players who only just noticed that it can 'tutor' any land. I now think this card is very awesome and flavourful -especially awesome for me because I only have single copies of rare lands like Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.

Goes great in a Glissa, the Traitor EDH deck. Or any EDH deck, really.

I gave this 4.5/5 simply because I have checked and this currently is the ONLY artifact that performs this kind of ability at common rarity and has a CMC of 1, so that it can be fetched with Trinket Mage.

Way too good to be ignored if you are playing a deck that makes use of specialty lands. The Urzatron, the Locus lands, Valakut, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Academy Ruins, Boseiju, etc. Green of course has Sylvan Scrying which is 1 mana less to use in total, but the map can fit in any color deck, and at 1 CMC it can be reused with Salvaging Station too for repeated fetch.

I'm glad this has a 4+ rating - it seems to be largely underrated in the circles I talk to. Being able to search for *any* land is insanely powerful, especially seeing as it can be used by any color.

In white, you can fetch Emeria or Serra's Sanctum. In blue, Tolarian Academy. Black has Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Cabal Coffers and Volrath's Stronghold. With red you can get Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle. Green gives you Gaea's Cradle and Yavimaya Hollow. And of course, the bazillion other nonbasic lands which are all worthy of tutoring for. Let's not forget 12-post and Urzatron.

Personally, right now I've got a playset in a mono black control deck that, among other things, focuses on ramping hard via Urborg + Cabal Coffers. Expedition Map helps me get that land-based ramp up and running, so I can start casting big bombs off it and generating powerful card advantage. Turn 5 Rune-Scarred Demon off of nothing more than just playing lands (including a Coffers and Urborg) is just rude. =D

Suggestion for the base of a powerful deck:

1x Strip Mine
1x Expedition Map
3x Trinket Mage
1x Stoneforge Mystic
1x Crucible of Worlds
1x Tinker
1x Demonic Tutor

Because losing was boring? 3:)

Actually running a Glissa EDH, this card is fantastic. Urzatron is kind of meh a lot of the time in EDH because there are usually better cards to hard-tutor for, and usually you can only get one of them for your hard-won tutor. But Glissa says "NOPE, HAVE EM ALL", and then you get the most use out of them, since Glissa should be running tons of artifacts.

Just discovered it while going through some artifacts, and read "LAND" and said it was like serendipity. good in just about every edh deck.

Wait a few turns, grab just about anything you need maze of ith, gaea's cradle, serra's sanctum, you name it and you can set yourself up.

I usually build funky decks without many/any basic lands. This has been an all-star for me, and is pretty much always the first thing anyone fighting my decks will try to counter.

I can vouche for it's effectiveness in Urzatron. If you aren't using this for a special land i recommend Mycosynth Wellspring

You could also go with wayfarer's bauble if you are not going for non-basic lands.

This card is great in EDH. It's almost a staple for any deck you make. I thought it would be bad for a midrange deck that has a lot of aggro elements, but I was wrong. I can use it to get tectonic edge to kill a maze of ith, or get a manland to help with my aggression. It can also grab my mistveil plains which can soft-lock players in combination with sunforger and lapse of certainty.
