I think their going for an Eye of Ugin style thing with this. Maybe Mirrodin will be besiged by Locusts.

Hmmm.... Cloudposts, Glimmerposts, Crucible of Worlds, Fastbond, Zuran Orb. Unlimited life + unlimited mana for 3G. Works for me!

in the zendikar set you got 1 life from dual lands now u get 1-4 life from colorless lands that dont have that nasty "into play tapped" dampener. and if you just happen to need that 4 life you can expedition map the 4th one into your hand and either explore or just normally play it causing you to either get 40+ or 30+ life your either your ascendent or your soverine

Yeah, playing all 4 gains you a total of 10 life... maybe not great in a Limited environment with poison counters flying all over the place, but certainly good for a land that doesn't even come into play tapped.

Not to mention mono-gray has Urza-tron, Cloudposts, and now Glimmerposts for its complete mana base.

Playing 4 copies of this, 4 copies of Cloudpost and 4 copies of Vesuva nets you an absurd amount of mana and life. I've always been a fan of Cloudpost, but the "enters the battlefield tapped" thing can really be a hazzle when your opponent is ramming you with early creatures. Glimmerpost is a great help there, because it can give you additional time to set up your mana before you start throwing expensive things at your opponents.
I could very well see Cloudpost, Glimmerpost and Vesuva working alongside Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin to provide a solid mana base for Eldrazi decks in casual the casual environment.

GrimjawxRULES has a good idea.... I'm trying to build a deck based off of his/her idea. So far it has worked well.

Okay, so if you have Amoeboid Changeling out, or any other changeling (or mistform card), could you count that as a lotus? I know the locus isn't marked as a creature type, but it's every type out there. And, sooner or later, there will be locus creatures.

@GrimjawxRULES: Already did a Deck somewhat like that. Added in some Deserted Temples and Amulet of Vigor to get even more mana even faster. It's still too slow for professional play, but it should be pretty effective against most casual and semi-pro decks.
So yeah, always loved Cloudpost, therefore Glimmerpost is pretty much my favorite card in SOM.

I'm glad to see another locus, but this is vastly inferior to cloudpost.

I'm pretty sure its interaction with Cloudpost is the only reason this card is rated as high as it is.

This card, on its own, is pretty bad.

this and primeval titan are absolutely broken. play primeval, search out two, attack search out two more. Now you may tap for 16 mana, on top of the 6 you already have for primeval titan. That is a hard casted emrakul and an Avenger of Zendikar the turn after primeval titan which comes out turn four in many ramp decks.

I'm surprised this wasn't created to function like the last one. If it did, it would probably say something like "Each locus you control gains you life equal to the number of loci you control"

I think we'll see a third Locus when Action releases. Naturally the winner of the war will be the one to "assume control" of this.

Ooo, how about a few Locuses along with a Meloku the Clouded Mirror/Fastbond combination? Unlimited life and unlimited air force!

I don't understand how anyone can think this is a bad card. Even without cloudpost, this thing snatches one life when it enters the field, and another two life if you play another. With all the artifacts flying around, unless your playing control or green, this thing is as good as colored mana. I put four in every standard deck unless they absolutely can't fit - It's only happened in tri-color control decks, none which work anyways.

Oh, you expect a functional reprint of cloudpost, didn't you? That would be too much.

Also, crop rotation for instant life gain.

Lifegain with these and cloudpost is pretty darn nice. Gaining 4-6 life for dropping a land really changes games. My deck that uses Amulet of Vigor + Izzet Boilerworks to bounce one of these guys out to gain more life.

Use Expedition Map to speed out the Loci. Amulet of Vigor makes it free fast ;-)

It is amazing how much life gain advantage you can achieve with this. People who rate this less than a 5 most likely haven't seen it in action. At bare minimum you get a colorless land untapped and 1 life. Most of the time you'll be netting 3+ life out of these AND adding fuel to your cloudposts!

Just compare it to Kabira Crossroads.

Strictly 5/5

I'm suprised no one has mentioned that fact that Changelings would fuel this + Cloudpost.

@CharmCityDemon: Locus isn't a creature type, so no, changelings wouldn't help with this.

Actually with a Primeval Titan is is possible to gain 12 life off of 4 of these. Put in 2 at the same time from the ETB trigger. When each of the GP ETBs trigger, you'll gain 2 life off of each trigger, for 4 life. On the next Primeval trigger, get the other 2, each of which triggers while all 4 are in play, result in 8 more life.

4+8=12 life off of lands that you would get naturally anyway.

I actually like playing Ravinica bounce lands like Gruul Turf with a Cloudpost / Glimmerpost set in play. Play your bounce lands during the end of your second main phase to get your mana's worth, if needed, from your Glimmerpost.

If you don't know how good this card is you've never played against it. The locus lands are ridiculous in the effects they can produce just from dropping a land. 5/5
