Who ever decided to make this card uncommon, thank you. Beefing up one blocker is definitely not worth rare status. If it was to an attacking creature, then it could be considered rare. Hmm.... that sounds like it would be an interesting card.
Lol I'd think EVERYONE would be just simply over joyed it's uncommon. And with only being usable when BLOCKING it's deffinitly not worthy of the rare status-- I'd be ticked if I pulled THIS for my rare, I love the card but aint THAT great.

I often play it on one of my opponent's blocking creatures, after playing on it Boros Fury-Shield. He's dealt at least 8 damage for only .

You know what is infinitely better than this? Smite. Smite's common, too.

Discussion about rarity aside, I have to say the current art-change embodies a lot of what's wrong with Magic nowadays. The original image from Fifth Edition onwards is that of beautiful girl in a crimson mantle, holding a sword in austere contemplation.
In Tenth Ed. and M10, we went from that picture to an image of a chick (androgynous dude?) in bikini armor running across a neon-blue field, with her hair pointing up like some sort of Dragon Ball Z homage. Excuse me, but what the hell.
And it's not just this card's art. You'll note that this same thing is more or less what happened to the white angels in recent sets - we went from Shadowmoor's haunting Twilight Shepherd and Alara's armored Empyrial Archangel to Rise of the Eldrazi''s pregnant bikini angels (when they're not in thongs or bondage gear). Frankly disappointing.

It has always served me well. A surprise kill for 1 mana is nothing to complain about.
9th ed art was better though. This art isn't bad, but it doesn't convey holiness at all.
Use this on your opponent's creature when he tries his luck by chump blocking your Phyrexian Obliterator

Except for the fact you have to to do it during your turn, because it has to be done when you can play a sorcery, and that its very difficult to have one of your creatures block during your turn, that's a great idea

It's a great card for eliminationg annoying beasts of tremendous size (for instance, Kalonian Behemoth. Cask it on a card with a lower power, and it couldn't be better bait. Pair it up with a card likeTidal Wave, it works.
@Salient: Another problem: Emrakul has protection from colored spells.

This game confuses me. The power or Righteousness allows an insect to match a dragon, a hydra, Godsire, an angel, and even a leviathan in terms of raw power?!?!

block with a kiln fiend and drop this. watch them cry as your kiln fiend goes from 1/2 to 11/9 for one white.

It might not be good enough for tourney play, but there's something I've always liked about this card flavor wise. Rather than a simple removal spell like Condemn or Doom Blade, it feels like an empowerment of your creatures rather than an attack on the opponent.
With this card, your lowly Soul Warden or Kitesail Apprentice suddenly has the strength and courage to defend against a Khalni Hydra. There's something awesome about that to me, and it definately fits with the spirit of white.
That said, the beautiful art from 9th edition encapsulates this a lot better than this one does. If they reprinted this with the 9th edition art, I would be a very happy man. :)

This looks amazing in foil. It actually looks like there's a light inside the card behind her.

It's funny seeing Little Girl kill Prince of Thralls. =D
I have always liked Righteousness, it's a really useful card that has saved my but many times. I do feel it is more of an uncommon than a rare so I like the downgrade.

Block something smallish with this + Devoted Druid, kill the attacker, and throw down just about anything in your second main phase.

So it's basically a 1 mana doom blade that works on anything with 7 or less toughness as long as you have a creature out that can block. Not bad. Also works on hexproof/shroud which is a nice advantage.
Very nice card. Not necessarily going to see tons of constructed play but you can pull off some neat tricks and effects with this ability and other cards based on creature toughness and power... Acts as removal.. Fling.. Sacrifice for life... Etc...

The thing is that this card only costs one, and therefore you can set up some incredibly MEAN traps for your opponent. You could potentially have all weenies on the field, fork it, and then stop someone from trampling you for sure! This is also perfect for putting in a deck which is designed so weenie creatures all get buffed, and that's how you win.

one of the saddest days for me was when i got one of these numbers, and my friend who got the pack right after mine got a taiga in his
Now there will never be another soul destroying moment of getting a core pack and the rare being this POS..... TT_TT
not so hard to get for so little reward.
This card is DEFFINITLY not a 'pos'!

Nice for use on a creature with lifelink as well.

Griselbrand: damnit.
Enjoy.
