The progentis slayer! This card can be a great comeback card... If only it had flash:-/. Oh well. I don't know how much play it will get.

Ok, first off this just screams Pariah me!!!!! Please Pariah me!
This is is better in a few cases than Scourglass or Wrath of God. Because it is a 6/6 creature with trample! Its non-targeting to boot! Protection and Shoud won't help. Love it. I would love to have it. I can see some use in Standard and Extended. I would definitely play with multiples of this card; you never no is your opponent has Path to Exile

My opponent pulled this on me against my grixis deck but still lost. I wish it removed the cards from the game though so progenitus couldnt jump back out of your opponents deck.

Good and bad... Good: a 6/6 Trampler for 5. Nuke everything that's not a land when it dies and no, you don't regen, You DIE!!
Bad: 5 different colors means it'll be hard to pull out, it'll kill any mana fixing if you have non-lands helping you, it blows up your stuff too, celestial purge laughs at it, it kills your stuff too!!!
It's gonna come down to whoever has the most cards in hand to recover with after this baby goes "big boomy" all over the stage. Still, its a very nice card to all you 5 color players.

Forget slaying Progenitus when you can remove him from teh game using Thought Hemorrhage instead.Rather this card's almost an unavoidable threat if it manages to enter play, though like mentioned before, watch out if by some chance someone has Path to Exile or the classic Swords to Plowshares....then again Unmake would be best b/c of no extra costs and/or drawbacks to playing it....otherwise you can "blackmail" your opponents with this.

This card's okay...I run a 5 color deck and he's in there mostly for flavor. It's nice in a pinch though, and swinging for 6 a turn ain't bad either. Also for those thinking it's hard to pull with 5 colors, thanks to the new mana accel cards it's pretty easy to get 5 colors up by turn 5 or so.

The concept of this card is creepy, some Akira-type shit going on. It's an interesting new take on the traditionally expensive board sweeper spells, just have to run a tight deck with low infrastructure, or Persist or Dauntless Escort, and that all that ilk. But prismatic is so unwieldy, I dunno. I like my Apocalypses.

I run a 5 color deck and i threw this in sideboard for against jund and found it works wonders. with all their multiple creatures they really don't want to see a wrath. It's basically asking them weather they want to use one of their removal spells to wrath themselves. It also has trample so it doesn't get held back by thrinax babies

Okay, question. Would this function as a hilarious EDH general? I can't find out out if your general has the option to hit the graveyard, then return to the "Command Area"

@cplmontana: In an EDH game, if you put this guy into your graveyard, he stays in your graveyard. Unless you can somehow spot remove a card in your graveyard, or perhaps your entire graveyard, from the game, he'll be stuck there.

Wizards again emphasize well of this card. The Child of Alara, in all desperation seeks to regain back his/her lost heritage from Nicol-Bolas. If it can't be granted, he/she too will deny anyone of such prize, that is Alara.
In the Alara storyline, I believe this child inflicted a heavy blow upon Nicol Bolas before be taken out too by the Maelstorm. He/She is a solemn a warning to fellow players that he/she is not to be tempered with.

seen this function well in edh decks using cards that return it to your hand or play from graveyard, so you dont have to pay extra mana each time you play it, also the fact you get a choice for it to hit the graveyard and kill everything or remove it to general zone and not nuke everything is actually quite helpful. you can play it when you are winning and it won't be a threat to all your stuff.... 4.5/5

Ok, either i read the comments too fast, or i just didn't see anyone post anything about Elvish Piper!! C'mon, why worry about running 5 colours when you can just stick this in a green mana vamp deck? You can get this out on turn 3 in a green deck with the piper.
@coyotemoon722 YOU SAID IT!!! I LURV multicolored decks, my fav being 5 colored...just waiting to get more lands and 5 color cards, and I'll be set! I hope they do another block like Alara with emphasis on 5 color...otherwise, blue/black would be great!

This card has strange synergy with Birthing Pod. At 5 cmc, it can be easily tutored from your deck on turn 4-5, depending on your hand. It can then be sacced on command to find a titan or, say, Geth, Lord of the Vault.
So not only do I get to kill all of your creatures, but I get to take them over time as well? Delicious.

Here's the deal with Child of Alara as an EDH general:
When a general is to be placed in exile or the graveyard, you could put it in the command zone, right? Well, with this, you can't explode the world AND put it in the command zone. That's because when a general is supposed to put into the graveyard, you replace the "into the graveyard" with "into the command zone".
So, when Child dies, you have the choice: do you put it into the grave, blowing up the world but making it inaccessible, OR do you not blow up the world and return it to the command zone, waiting for a better time to blow up?
This rule both improves and ruins Child as a general. If you have more things on the field than your opponents, putting it into the command zone is better, and vice versa.
It also means that The Star dragons (Kokusho, Yosei, Keiga, Jugen and Ryusei), Tuktuk, and green Iname's abilities don't activate when you put it back into the command zone.
That being said, Child allows black to be played, so cards like Disentomb, Reanimate and/or Raise Dead can be used.

I use this as my EDH Commander. I use her with sac effects like diabolic intent, victimize, cabal therapy and mind extraction. Victimize this baby with a Prince of Thralls in play and watch your opponent cry. Especially if you use the Victimize to reanimate a Lord of Extinction and whatever else (I like Jin-Gitaxias)! Go baby sacrifice!

As was mentioned, because of the command zone rule, if you choose to not put him in the command zone, he does in fact die, blowing up the board.
This makes it difficult to use him as a commander, since he only blows up the board once, right? WRONG. Using cards like Genesis and Ichorid, you can return him from your graveyard to your hand/battlefield or exile him (which lets you put him in the command zone instead).
Unfortunately, those two cards are the only repeatable recyclers of child of alara. However, the rest of the deck could be instants/sorceries that do the same thing, such as unburial rites.
After that, stick in the Pantheon of Gods, other indestructible creatures, and man lands; and watch your opponents cringe because of all the dead babies.

Since we're talking about generals that have to actually die to work, and the Theran gods, Pharika can exile this from your graveyard and give you a snake, while Child goes to the command zone
