I like this card, don't get me wrong, but those abilities just feel weird on Liliana. She should be doing stuff with destruction, discard, or reanimation. Not mana ramp.

@ Feral: Dark Ritual is arguably the most iconic black card of all time.

Possible repeated removal, card advantage, deck thinning (so you hopefully draw less lands), discard fodder, reliable land drops with less land in the deck, and a nice way to get out giant Demons in casual, or huge Drain Lifes. Consider Throne of Geth and Grim Affliction to T5 her ultimate, you can do this at instant speed, leaving 2 lands untapped as well as your swamp from last turn untapped; giving you 12 mana to drop on whatever you feel. T5 with 12 {B} is a powerful thing in the right deck. To make it reliable have your backup plan be Crypt Ghast for 10 {B}.

This is planeswalker is so Timmy it's awesome.

Even if she's usually a slow Tithe, she can be pretty useful just for making your deck reliable in the late turns of the game.

With corrupt and nightmare, glad to see this liliana make another appearance. Plus we still have our RtR cycle of dual swamps to fetch with her, making multi color or ever prismatic feasible.

The first person I played in the prerelease was BR and kept this in his sideboard. This is still a good card, but not a good planeswalker.

Card advantage in the form of lands is still card advantage. This is the only four mana planeswalker that draws you one card a turn while increasing loyalty. Great way for control decks to hit their land drops.

So I figured out the flavor behind tutoring Swamps. Your hand in basically your mind, it's what you're thinking about, right? And she fills your mind with Swamps, a.k.a. dirty, filthy things that cause you to do ruthless things and kill people?

Next step: google search Liliana rule 34, then tell me your mind isn't filled with all sorts of nasty, filthy thoughts XD

Flavourful Planeswalker. Shouldn't be a Liliana, though, none of her other cards show this love for Mana Ramp.

The amount of times Swamp is printed on this card clearly indicates this is to be a true Mono-B planeswalker. Yet, there is actually a top tier Mono Black deck (top 8 at PT Theros!) in Standard and this card still sees no play.

Its effect is very little in any game. The removal aspect is too expensive to be considered really repeatable (this is a 4 mana Quag Sickness if you play it and -3 it immediately and if you take a turn to +1 it, it takes 2 turns to kill 1 creature and at least 3 more turns to kill a 2nd, assuming it never gets hit). The swamp searching thins your deck a bit, ensures you hit land drops, not that exciting for a 4 mana Planeswalker. The ultimate gives you what exactly? A lot of mana for the rest of the game on turn 7, assuming you cast this turn 4 and +1 every turn and also have it never take a hit. Not really that good without a great mana sink, which black doesn't really have.

A lot of small functions on one card has been a formula for solid, playable cards before, but Liliana's abilities are so trivial that the only thing you really want to use on her is the removal and you'd just rather have any number of black's premium removal spells.

I hope they one day put a solid, playable black planeswalker in the core set, instead of this Liliana. She's not even that awesome in limited, one of the few planeswalkers you very easily pass P1P1. I would ask for a new planeswalker (maybe another version of Liliana, but none of the old ones, 2 are bad and 1 is probably too good to be in Standard all the time) or reprint the original Sorin Markov, who was the core set planeswalker in M12. Sorin actually was repeatable removal and had a cool, splashy effect for an ultimate (everyone loves Mindslaver). If this Liliana can't see play when Mono Black is alive and well, she just isn't worth printing anymore.

I can imagine an interesting mana ramp deck, considering her and Crypt Ghast. Just think about what you could pump into Polukranos, Mistcutter, and Vastwood Hydra. My inner Timmy delights at it.

You could have at least reprinted her with better art... this art is horrible.

As usual with this Lili, the main problem is her +1 is too limited to ever see play in Standard. Her -3 is really good but I think if she could use it on the first turn without killing herself, she'd be standard playable.

not a good liliana, but still good. i like the "" in the end of the ultimatum.

opponent: finally, I have enough loyalty on Liliana to activate her ultimate. I will now activate it.

you: in response to that, Quicken Trait doctoring, now instead, you get an emblem that says forests you control have the mana ability, and your playing mono black

This is the only planeswalker I own, not because shes amazingly good but b/c shes the only one not amazingly expensive to buy. Her abilities are 'ok' but honestly 4 mana for a planeswalker that comes into play with only 3 loyalty and only generates +1 loyalty a turn? She should have either cost 3 mana, or her first ability should be +2, or she should come into play with 4 loyalty... pick any of those.

She seems fun. I wonder what her idea of a fun date is?

Liliana will get a new card in M15, for one simple reason: All other members of the Lorwyn 5 already have four cards.

This version is underpowered when compared to Liliana of the veil 5/5. However I would like to see this version in a mono-black commander swamp hungry deck like Maga, traitor to Mortals or something... Overall 4/5
