Now that Lilly loves swamps this may actually see play, I wish all planeswalkers got this kind of support from their color...

With this, Mutilate, and Geralf's Messager in standard, a MBC deck could surface...

Am I the only one thinking this could have Lifelink and work exactly the same?

@Acheron_: No, because only creatures can have Lifelink. Just as a burn spell cannot have Trample, Corrupt cannot have Lifelink. Without trying to be smarmy, it's a pretty obvious thing. Every black spell that has an effect like this (think Gray Merchant of Asphodel for a recent example) has similar wording. There have been Black spells with similar effects since the beginning of the game. Lifelink is ONLY a static ability of a creature, wherein any damage dealt by the creature causes you to gain that much life.

Most abilities only work from the battlefield, and lifelink isn't an exception, so putting it on a sorcery wouldn't do anything. Now, there aren't many ways to have a creature spell deal damage from the stack, but making lifelink work from the stack would still be a drastic and weird change.

Not true. Abilities like lifelink could work on instants and sorceries. Use puncture blast as an example.
@Acheron_: you are right

Actually, manaderp, Lifelink works on all sources and in all zones, not just creatures on the battlefield. Corrupt, however, has the damage done then the life is gained. Lifelink has damage and life gain occur at the same time, though I'm not sure the difference would ever matter.
