The flavor behind intimidate is awkward. They should have at least kept Fear for black creatures, much better flavor.

How is fear and Intimidate different in flavor? They are synonymous.

It's not a 3/2 for one, it's an early game 1/1, and a late game 3/2 - It's a 3/2 in late game - that's laughable it sucks when it's playing with smaller creatures that could die to Lacerator, and it sucks when it's late game where you could be slinging Malakir Bloodwitches - Guul Draz Vampire just takes up slots for creatures that have deffinate positions in a deck and aren't jack of nothing master of nothing.

Possibly the weakest vampire in Zendikar. I know it looks good on paper, but in reality it's just a 1/1 critter that does nothing.

I imagine they kept it as Intimidate instead of Fear in case the color gets changed by an external source.
And if you're playing fast enough beats in black (like Vampire Lacerator), the opponent often hits 10 life in pretty short order, such that Guul Draz hits the board in time to take over when creatures that can block the Lacerator show up.

OK...Vampire Lacerater is a better one drop for the early game, but 3/2 with a good evasion ability in the mid to late game, which leaves you mana to play removal, bigger creatures, or anything else with the 2-3 mana you save on her makes it worthy of at least PLAYTESTING a couple slots. A better top deck than Lacerater in the late game, full stop.

I'd pick this over the Lacerater for the mid-late game value. I know a lot of people who have an odd obsession with turn one 2/2s, that end up being dead draws later. I'd rather have a 3/2 with new fear turn 4+ than a 2/2 at that point. Especially with pumping cards, this'll be good, seeing as -Oddly- there are fewer vampires with flying than I would have expected before Zendikar.
Maybe a new best friend of Sorin and Vampire Nocturnas? The deck could work out awesomely, and if not, be fun.

I like this card.
I feel that is is the best black common in Zendikar
It has good artwork and is a great mid-game card.
The Lacerator has it's place in the opening, but I wouldn't want four of those down without a Child of Night or Vampire Nighthawk down, but I would want four Guul Draz Vampire's down, and that is the main thing in deck design I find, 'Do I really want four of these down at the same time?'

This is a very good one-drop for limited. Obviously, above 10 life, it is worse than most one drops, being a 1/1. However, in limited, people often miss their one-drops, don't have any, etc, so it may be able to sneak in for some damage. However, unlike most other one-drops, this is not a terrible top-deck late game. If you hit it later on, you get a 3/2 fear for one, as opposed to say, a 2/2 with no evasion for 1.
Obviously vampire lacerator is a better one-drop 1st turn, but it is a far worse top-deck late game. Both are strong cards in limited, but I don't expect this to make the jump to constructed, where the lacerator might.

Not too bad.... kinda has its own pseudo Kicker! Players can only pay the kicker if they have the mana which is usually later in the game (usually) the card after kicker is almost always better :-) This card is kinda the same except for if she lives long enough she kicks herself (no pun intended!) And she gets obviously gets better than a 1/1. Problem with her is that it appears that there will be a lot of vamp decks in the meta game... which means her intimidation factor will pretty much stank. Overall a decent common, but definitely not one that's gonna drastically cheese up someones deck for sure

The versatility of this card is nice. If you get it in your starting hand, it's nice to have a creature out on turn 1. If you get this late game (and you've played your cards right), you've got a nice 3/2. I think it'll find a home in any decent Vampire deck. I know it's finding one in mine.

I like Vampire Lacerator but i also like Guul Draz Vampire so i have them both in my deck :). Vampire Lacerator is great at opening, but in mid game Guul Draz Vampire is better since is a 3/2 with intimidate/fear.

ummm... a 3/2 evader that can be boosted by other vampires for 1? Gorgeous artwork? What is there possibly not to like about this card?
Sure, there is a threshold on its ability, but how many vampire decks can beat someone down to 10 life in 2-3 turns?

The thing about most one drops is that usually their fairly insignificant and can use up important card slots where other more powerful cards are. Lets face it most one drop creatures won't do too much to impact the game (not without exception(mother of runes springs to mind)) so if all you require is a one drop as a bit of a pawn, like as an early blocker than you might opt for this as if it does stay alive it could impact the game in a significant way later. Actually StreamHopper said it the best, its the versatility that's nice if its in your starting hand you get a creature out on turn 1 if its later you have a 3/2 intimidate for one mana. Also the fact it has rogue as subtype is good. I don't know maybe the curvaceous hips are making me bias. No i like this card when you cast it you know your making an investment for the future.

this is an insane 1 drop. you practically get a 3/2 with intimidate for 1 mana. if your running tribal vampires, your bound to get your opponent to 10 life or less quickly, especially with sorin markov in your deck.

How many Vampire decks can get your opponent to 10 or less life in just a few turns? All of them? That's right.
Vampire Lacerator might be a safer bet in tournaments, but in casual I'd run this chick over it without a hint of doubt, as not only is she infinitely prettier, she also gives all of those obnoxious green fatties the middle finger as she sneaks in, enchanted with a Blade of the Bloodchief, to swing for the win.

the only thing that keeps me from removing her from my deck is the curves.
I think this card is better than people give her credit for.
On turn 1, she does what a 1-drop does, which is, essentially, be a one-drop. She can trade with most things, like an Elite Vanguard or whatever, or at least get in the way. At worst you've got something on the field when they might not; sure, having a Vampire Lacerator on the field is great, but I find that effectively the difference isn't THAT vast.
The difference is, Guul Draz can be very effective late-game, which won't really be that late since Vampires are about fast damage. She's a 3/2 with evasion for , and if you've got something like Vampire's Bite handy she can swing for 6. And it only cost you for the vamp and for the bite. In a vampire deck, that should be a finisher, or close to one.

I always look at this art wrong for some reason. Where I see her head, there is actually her rear end. It's a little jarring once I figure it out, which always happens eventually. I have no idea why, or even how this happens.
Tangent aside, it's a great one drop for vampire decks that can really speed up the clock once enough damage has been dealt. 10 damage should be a piece of cake for any worthwhile group of vampires. Gotta love one drops that have an impact on the late game.

Possibly Legacy worthy. She starts hitting for 3 evasive mid-game if you have an aggressive deck. I'd recommend pump spells (vampires bite, virulent swipe) on top of other aggro creatures to try and get there quickly. They also work as psuedo-removal.
For this purpose though, you'll likely have more success with Putrid Imp, Gravecrawler, etc; which require little outside support for an aggro strategy and are quite comboable; requiring the opponent to answer them rather than requiring you to support them.
