The Grand Creature Type Update apparently forgot about that card: A "Survivor" token? Being a survivor is a condition, neither a race nor a profession. What about "Put a 1/1 red Human creature token named Survivor onto the battlefield under an opponent's control." instead?
Aside from that it's a decent card and possibly the only one that can actually make good use of its rampage ability, which is normally a minor advantage.
Course that leyline's off-color but still. Or you could just be mean and use double strike and lure. Nemesis Mask, Fireshrieker.

They need to update the rulings on this card, after M10, according to rule 110.5a Tokens are owned and controlled by the player under whose control they entered the battlefield. I had a Brand deck that used to kick everyone's ass with this card, but now it doesn't work. Just saying, they should've updated the rulings for this card, and I also would love to see a printed Survivor Token card.

I would play this with something like Festering Evil. No creatures for you.

I like how the rampage ability actually means that no amount of uppity survivors ganging up could drop them. Rampage is rarely of any conceivable use at all.
Combine with a lure or Invasion Plans or something similar, you can steamroll virtually anything.
As of Nov 7, 2010, the official rules (110.5a) state that a token is owned by the player under whose control it enters the battlefield, so Brand and the like do not work.

This, Repercussion and Aether Flash make a nice 2-3-4 mana curve combo. Throw in some manlands, rituals, and Pyroclasms and you've got yourself a fun little red control deck.

Design synergy? In Alliances? Shocking.

I use Lure with rampage. I'M A GENIUS! I use Doubling Season with counters. I'M A GENIUS! ...
Back when Alliances was first printed, we were all so excited about Balduvian Barbarians that we missed what a beast this guy is. This + Wild Nacatl + Jötun Grunt is a pretty powerhouse.

Ok so I have had this deck that people have been talking about for a about a year. And it is fun. Loads of fun is casual. and if it goes off, it really slows the game down, just long enough so you win. Not as good in a multi player match, but it still works, unless they realize what is going on. Here is the list I use.
Often, you will win sitting with a handful of land. The orchards are nice, nothing like a uncounterable shock, or better, to the face for free, every turn.

This is one of the first cards I've ever seen where rampage actually makes sense, no matter how many of the tokens block him, they cannot kill him, he just gets stronger and stronger, lol

circle of flame keeps them from swinging back. Off color, but pretty close (we love you, boros) is Phyrexian Rebirth. Let them build up creatures with nothing to do but sit there. Then board wipe and have a big nasty creature. Also, the circle stays, perfect for another Rider, should you want to.
A good way to give your opponent a good number of creatures to Massacre wurm into oblivion.

Wow, after reading the discussion thread, I must admit that this card is actually pretty awesome. Combo potential? Check. Great flavor? Check. Generally good? Check. (Though you still have to build your deck around it, somewhat.)

Here is a deck:
Powerstone Minefield, Armageddon and Paladin en-Vec. Fill it in from there. It's situational but rampage is cherry on the top because if someone has two creatures big enough to survive the Minefield.
Say what you will about the War-Riders I guess, but at least it's a interesting card.
With Serum Powder you pretty surely have a free Leyline out Round zero, which makes the upkeep costs of Varchild irrelevant (at first). To have Cardquality and a spell for Round one Ponder lets you look that you get nothing double or three times.
After that you play Varchild, which is a supereffective beater for 2 Mana.
Round three you either dig deeper with thirst and discard your double Dingusstaff or one of the many artifactlands to get a huge Cardadvantage, or you can get Hissing Iguanar out and turn Varchild into ticking pinger which does x+1 Damage each Round (very sweet ^^ make the costs into a benefit).
Alternitavly you play hunted phantasm and start beating him with trample and unblockable.
OR you play a serum Poweder and Ramp into a round 4 hunted dragon.
... Round three is where it happens ;)
And to end it off you can play Dingus Staff which makes Varchild even more dangerous, hunted Phantasm is 10 Damage into the face, same with hunted Dragon (2 dead Tokens + 6 Damage = 10 dmg)
I just like how you can use the disadvantage of very strong creatures and even make an advantage for yourself, while your enemy just sits there ***ed of because he's got the same permanents two times on his hand ^^

well...so...changelings don't share a creature type with its tokens, because his tokens have an illegal creature type o.o

The rampage is a cute touch: It can kill any number of Survivor tokens that block it. Slapping a Nemesis Mask on him is amusing for this reason.

Have this in play for a little while and then play Lure. Proceed to kill everything.

It's even more fun when used along with Tainted AEther.
Cards like Goblin Sharpshooter or AEther Flash also do a good job with this card to get rid of them.
Play both or add a Blood Seeker or Burning Sands to get your opponent into some decent trouble.
Course that leyline's off-color but still.

Also, AEther Flash.
Brand still works with this card because the updated rulings say you own the creature but your oppent controls it.
Combine with a lure or Invasion Plans or something similar, you can steamroll virtually anything.

...
Just as important, if not more so, is getting rid of the tokens or nullifying their effect. Orim's Prayer, Urza's Armor, Brand (apparently), Silent Arbiter, and Goblin Sharpshooter all do the trick.
Throw down a few Blood Seekers or Suture Priests to make things very hard on your opponents.

Got a Deck with him in it, works quite well:
it is U/R and uses
Earthquake, forbidden orchard, Hissing Iguanar, Serum Powder, Dingus Staff, Hunted Phantasm, Leyline of Singularity, Ponder, thirst for Knowledge, Hunted Dragon Artifact-, duallands and Basics
