I bet MaRo designed this card

I'm not sure this is going to be less of a problem in limited than mind control, but I guess they're trying. Love the name though.

This gets a 5/5 from me for the name and the art.

For chrissakes, it has a big bad dragon and a little turtle with a heart between them!!

Total d'aaawww card.

Also, can be very, very powerful in the right combination.

@Lord_Of_Tresserhorn

I believe that 'heart' is their minds switching. Look at their eyes.

A splashable mind control variant, with the additional benefit of some possible Donate-like shenanigans. Very interesting, I can certainly see this getting some use.

Zedruu would love to have an opponent own your creature, and unlike mind control, this card is not an enchantment, meaning you gain control permanently, excepting flicker and bounce of course. This means you can bounce/flicker your own creature to get it back as well.

Overall, what seems like a quirky card with a bad name could have some nice applications if you think for a minute or two about where you put it so that there is some synergy.

Also, i just noticed it says two target creatures. In some weird situation you could switch two opponents creatures to mess them up.

I would love to see someone pull off a combo with this and Archdemon of Greed. I'd laugh uncontrollably if you could pull off a win like that where their own creature kills them.

Legerdemain is more powerful, but this one only cost a single blue mana.

I love this card more than I should. I was always (and still am) a fan of Legerdemain, and while being worse, it DEFINITELY makes up for it by having a Freaking TURTLE on it.

Also, @TimmyForever: You are truly amazing. You predicted the outcome of your comment, and I give you applause. Hater.

But...if both of them switch sides, this won't make them friends :(

If you don't call it "the old switcheroo" when casting it, you're playing it wrong. I suppose it's decent in that it can't be Naturalized or removed.

At the prerelease, I used this card in a U/R Talrand/Krenko deck, and while Talrand, Krenko, and Firewing Phoenix were my key players, this buddy helped me out a lot when I was sitting with some drake tokens and talrand and my opponent had played Serra Angel.

I'll take your 4/4 Flying Vigilance and you can have my 2/2 flying drake token; I have plenty more where those came from anyway.

My pre-release Switcheroo moment: stealing an opponent's fatty and trading it with an Elvish Visionary. Then casting Unsummon to get my Elvish Visionary back, and then casting it again.

I love it.

HIlarious in Zendruu, as other have mentioned. Funny when handing out creatures with terrible drawbacks... "Here, have a Demonic Hordes... with no black mana for the upkeep. Have fun with that!"

Funny in Commander just to swap other people's toys, too.

@timmyforever Every card has a use. This card is potentially better than Donate, being able to steal an opponent's fatty and give them a weakling. The possibilities are endless.

New best way to get rid of your Abyssal Persecutor.

In fact, if you Switcheroo your Abyssal Persecutor to get a Platinum Angel, you automatically win at everything forever.

Ahh, the ol' Magic Switcheroo.

Wait, wait... I have a stupid question.
If I were to temporarily steal a creature, say, with Mark of Mutiny and then trade that same creature back with Switcheroo, here, would that result in the temporarily gained creature, now traded, coming back to me as the turn ends, as it is still the same creature(not having been Flickered out or some such) and under the influence of the Mark of Mutiny(or similar) card I played, or am I just having a brain fart?

Gotta love it for the name alone but it is very decent in limited to boot.

I'm not sure if anyone else has picked this up, but this card seems to be based on some original cards that Richard Garfield himself designed.

A few years ago he turned up to an event, armed with a deck of custom cards all based around exchanging the control of cards - drawing cards from an opponent's library, shuffling cards into your opponent's library, all sorts of crazy stuff. And, of course, one of them was called 'The Ol' Switcheroo' (although the effect for that particular one was different to this one printed).

If you're interested, the article can be found here: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/eventcoverage/worlds08/garfield-v-forsythe

Trust Richard Garfield to find a still massively unexplored area of design space.

This is pretty much a Gilded Drake where you can choose what you give instead of a 3/3 with flying, which could easily be better.

In Limited, this can be a life saver: If your opponent pops an Elderscale Wurm or something of that magnitude, you can take it and give them... say, a 1/1 Goblin Token.

I can see it having some EDH play.

A very useful card that is immensely more useful in the hands of a pro like me.

Play this with a card that has some serious negative effects....like Treacherous Pit-Dweller or Demonic Taskmaster, and just have fun.

This just makes creative players go "hmmm....what can I do with this?"

This card has a name that is strictly better than any card not named switcheroo

I feel like the flavor text should read "I see what you did there," after the popular meme.

You'll notice, you don't loose control of your new creature as you do with cards such as mind control. I say 4.5/5

This card was so evil and fun in M13 draft. I'll be taking that Serra Angel, here have my Kraken Hatchling.
