Make yourself a goat deck! It's just a very fun deck to use and unexpectedly powerful, at least in my particular casual metagame. Plus, is it not simply hilarious to slaughter someone with what are (at first) the weakest creatures conceivable? Feel the warmth and satisfaction from caring for a flock of fifty or more bleeting darlings then watch with pride as your woolly children chomp face after just a tiny pump spell.

Did someone ask for Goats vs Squirrels? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Duel Decks: Goats vs Squirrels. Go ahead and proxy them up, and play!

Springjack Shepherd x4
Dawn Elemental x4
Cloudgoat Ranger x2
Mirror Entity x4

Scapegoat x4
Ajani Goldmane x4
Honor the Pure x4
Leyline of the Meek x4
Oblivion Ring x2
Path to Exile x4
Holy Day x2

Springjack Pasture x4
Plains x18

Despite there being a large handful of red goats, I decided to go mono-white with this to maximize the Shepherd. Scapegoat is in there because sacrificing goats is funny- also, getting your Shepherd back for another go is always good.

And you'll need more shepherds for all those goats! Build some fences out of Leylines, and get Ajani up to the task with that staff of his. Dawn Elemental helps up the chroma count. There's a small removal suite, but the Oblivion Rings were limited due to interaction with the Squirrel enchantments.

Garruk Wildspeaker x4
Overrun x2
Doubling Season x2

Deranged Hermit x4
Squirrel Mob x4
Squirrel Nest x4
Chatter of the Squirrel x4
Squirrel Wrangler x2
Arbor Elf x4
Nut Collector x2

And, for fun:
Form of the Squirrel x2
Squirrel Farm x4

Swarmyard x4
Deserted Temple x2
Forest x16

I left out the Earthcraft because the combo would simply make the goats look so much weaker. Goat power! However, Garruk is in there to make some more use out of squirrel nest, and act as extra overruns. Deserted Temple and Arbor Elf serve the same purpose, but the latter, alongside Garruk, can power out a Nut Collector for an early steam of furry things. None too efficent, but it should play okay against goats.

Enjoy.

Duel Decks never run more than 2 of a card. Unless that card is a basic land or something like Terramorphic Expanse.

Turn 1: Goldenglow Moth
Turn 2: Crusade
Turn 3: Jihad
Turn 4: Springjack Shepherd, of course.

Enjoy your six or seven 3/3 Goat tokens. ;)

This really is one of those cases where I would prefer Crusade to Honor of the Pure and Jihad to Glorious Anthem, not to mention that I already like those cards better than their competitors anyway.

Also, have you noticed that the chariot of Nobilis of War is pulled by a pair of goats? Coincidence? I think not! ;)

Finally, do not forget your flicker effects! Add Restoration Angel, Flickerwisp and Glimmerpoint Stag and we're already getting close to a complete deck!

Obviously Goats are better. But seriously though, this is a very solid card. Seeing as everybody's already mentioned a bevy of anthems, how about we Phyrexian-ize our goats? Miss Norn, I think you can make some improvements upon the herd, no?

Wizards, I am disappointed. Shepherds care for sheep, not goats! This should be the Springjack Goatherd!

Nobilis of War is great with this - you can either have it down before dropping the Shepherd, for an extra five goats, or you can slam it down unexpectedly afterwards and attack with all those suddenly-much-more-threatening 0/1s.

But significantly funnier is Godhead of Awe. She's a curse for everyone else, but she heaps bountiful blessings of relevance on Eldrazi Spawn... and goats. Also, again, there's that (effectively) WhiteWhiteWhiteWhiteWhite mana cost, which synergizes nicely.

It was a while ago but it remains an amazing story, I was playing my tribal kithkin deck and had a Coat of Arms on the battlefield. I pull out this dude and my army of kithkin tokens provided me with 14 goats, 14 goats that were all 13/14 that is...My opponent laughed untill he realized he was getting face stomped by my army of gigantic Eldrazi eating goats.

Why no errata to use the devotion keyword?
JarieSuicune

Not Devotion to White because... they just haven't. Besides, the Devotion wording is more a flavor/Keyword thing, and would sound weird on a Shepard of a far-off Plane.

DoctorKenneth's awesome Goats vs. Squirrels deck got even better since he brewed!

Goats:
Replace Holy Day with Rootborn Defenses
Add Cloudshift instead of your 4th Ajani.
Add Trading Post instead of your 3rd Ajani.

Squirrels are already killing machines, but what the heck, give both decks a pair of Growing Ranks and keep brawling!
