Pair with Elvish Archrduid. I got a turn 4 10/10 primalcrux out with this combo.

Pretty much paired with any creature that produces more than one mana or an enchantment/artifact that increases mana production is infinite mana. Fireball, anyone?

But to get infinite mana you would need a way to untap Thousand-Year Elixir, wouldn't you? Still I'm thinking of using this card to make my Bloom Tender combo go off sooner.

I love the flavor text. All you need to drink it is a straw ^_^

Play it with Merieke or one of the other guys with a powerful tap ability. Even the Skyward eye Prophets become very good with this in play.
Why don't you just use a straw? Then you don't need the giant's strength. Alright, maybe you don't have a straw; how about dipping a cup?

Combos extremely well with the highest rated artifact creature of all time, Metalworker. having such a huge mana source without waiting a turn, and being able to tap him twice with the same card, definately a way to rev up an artifact deck to murder speed. Can't tell you how many times i've lost a game with the winning combo in my hand, just waiting to tap Metalworker. on top of that, think of all the elves that tap to get whatever for each elf in play. Priest of Titania, Elvish Archdruid, Immaculate Magistrate, Wellwisher, Timberwatch Elf, Wirewood Channeler...
@cats_and_me: Merieke Ri Berit's ability states that if she becomes untapped or leaves the battlefield, the creature she grants you control of is destroyed. In conjunction with this card, she would come in to play and steal a creature. Then, you'd pay and untap her using this card's ability. The stolen creature would be destroyed, and then you could tap her for another creature. You would not be able to gain control of two creatures, only one.

After spending much time searching for creatures that benefit the most from this card, here are my three favourite suggestions: Merieke Ri Berit allows you to immediately gain control of two different creatures for four mana, Mangara Of Corondor allows you to immediately remove two different permanents from the game for four mana, and Royal Assassin allows you to immediately destroy two different tapped creatures for four mana! :) It's funny how your opponent doesn't get to untap before your assassin starts working..
Edit: Thanks everyone for rating my last comment high, but I'd like to edit it simply to answer to CeremonialBathory's comment.. You tap Merieke Ri Berit to gain control of a creature, and then you untap her in response to her tapping ability: Because it hasn't resolved, there's no creature that you've gained control of yet, so the second ability does nothing! :) You re-tap her to gain control of another creature, and then both tapping abilities resolve and you gain control of two different creatures, and with this card in play you can do this for four mana and immediately..

Makes Captain Sisay an even more awesome commander. Or general, if you prefer to refer to the format as Elder Dragon Highlander.

Handy in EDH for making sure your commander's tap abilities (if applicable) can be used no matter if they get fried the next time your opponent gets the chance.
Excellent synergy with Rings of Brighthearth (surprise) as well. First turn activation, and heck, copy the ability while you're at it.

I question the interpretation of Merieke Ri Berit's ability. The key is in the first sentence of the activated ability, which states that you gain control of the target creature for as long as you control Merieke. From the comprehensive rules:
611.2b Some continuous effects generated by the resolution of a spell or ability have durations worded "for as long as . . . ." If the "for as long as" duration never starts, or it ends before the moment the effect would first be applied, the effect does nothing. It doesn't start and immediately stop again, and it doesn't last forever.
So if you untap Merieke in response to her ability and use her again, then first activation of the ability does not grant you control of the targeted creature, because it ended before it was first applied. However, the destroy trigger is still created, so the next time Merieke untaps or leaves the battlefield, both of the targeted creatures get destroyed even though you never gained control of the first one you targeted.
"Oh hi there, Jandor's Saddlebags. We looked at how lame you were and thought we'd give you the Voltaic Key treatment, but better."
1CMC and 1 for the untap effect would be great by itself, but throw in the pseudo-haste that applies only to activated abilities and this becomes a potential powerhouse. Lots of things to combo with: mana abilities (Priest of Titania), damage abilities (Prodigal Sorcerer), or just plain weird abilities (the aforementioned Merieke Ri Berit).
My current use for this is in a deck alongside Infect/poison creatures and enchantments like Fire Whip. Speeds things up wonderfully.

Unfortunately your math is a little off, as the total mana at your disposal (it costs 1 to untap the creature) is 8. Close, but no cigar.
@Estap
Merieke's ability only stops working when you lose control of her, not when she becomes untapped. When she becomes untapped it destroys a creature taken control of by her, but that doesn't end her effect (assuming the creature doesn't die). Both creatures will still be subject to the destruction clause when she untaps, but they will both be taken control of.
Use a straw, bro. Teh Elixir is fun though, especially with a few generals

Heh. As Asrius pointed out, tip=tap. It takes the strength of a giant to tip it (from the giant's tonic). It takes 1 mana to tap this artifact for its effect. How much does Giant Growth cost again? Oh wait.

i'm joking, this is a good card in a lot of decks
Actually seems interesting with Training Grounds.
First Turn: Forest + Llanowar elves
Second Turn: Forest + Greenweaver Druid
Third Turn: Forest + Thousand-Year Elixir
Fourth Turn: Forest + Myojin of Life's Web (use thousand-year elixir to untap greenweaver) Field day??

lol, the flavor is that you're the giant, so you give the creature a sip because they couldn't lift it.
Beautiful.
