it doesn't say anything about speed limitation, so if it's possible it be an ok response to removal.

This.. is another over powered card they didn't test long enough before they printed it. Why is it overpowered? It doesn't say pay mana to sacrifice your creature.. you can do it whenever. Meaning your opponent can't play any removals on your creatures without you simply sac.ing it for card draw. This turns things like emeria sky ruin, debtors knell, reveillark, and various other revival cards totally insane since nothing can be exiled, and you get continuous card draw. Also plain nuts with dominus of fealty and sarkhan vol and sower of temptation. You take your opponents card, sac. it, and get card draw for it.

It would have been fair if it said, pay 3 colorless mana, sac. a creature. draw 2 cards. As it currently is, its plain to powerful. It hits play and every removal just = card draw. Have to see it in play to really understand how insane that can be. This is actually the exact same reason they made ooze garden only playable at sorcery speed.

I really like it with Nacatl War-Pride and Briarhorn, and its great after an Overrun. Solid cards, one of those combo pieces that can be exploited repeatedly for powerful and decisive victories. Builds decks that 'go off' all at once.

It's powerful, but not over-powered. It only works on creatures that have powers four or greater; if you have a significant number of creatures with power four or greater getting offed, you deserve cards. It's more powerful than Fecundity, but not that much considering it costs one more mana and doesn't do anything to help when your little utility elves get offed. If you only have a few big threats or some kind of recursion, then Bequeathal becomes a possibly-better option.

I love it because it shows what an aggressive green stompy deck can do with card advantage, making all the control players who are used to having a monopoly on card advantage cry that it's broken.

Pfft, another overpowered green card, what is it with WoC and green? It's like "they have no removal, so let's make overpowered on 1/4 of the cards", just silly. That's why I dislike green, so overpowered and boringly simple.

Who says green doesn't draw cards?

VERY good with Dredge/Psychatog

Great in EDH, especially with Multani general. Would I like to draw 21 cards? Yes, I think I would.

I remember there being a standard 3-color deck running this, Yosei, the Morning Star, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Goryo's Vengeance and probably also Footsteps of the Goryo. Yosei tapped down your opponents, Kokusho drained massive chunks of life, Goryo reanimated the dragons for another go, and Greater Good allowed you to sacrifice the dragons after being reanimated, drawing 5 cards and discarding 3, some of which were usually more dragons.

Why, Groundbreaker, you're going to die anyways. You might as well take one for the team, eh?

Used this with Omniscience in a game of EDH the other day. Things quickly got out of hand...

I LOVED this card! I played the crap out of this card when Ravnica first came out with dredge. Just burned through my deck with dredge cards after sacrificing my Grave Troll or Scarab, just to either reanimate my Razia / Firemane or to power through with my Restless Tomb.

@Donovan_Fabian; I disagree as it is only worth while (card wise) if the creature is power 4 or greater. Though at 3 you would possibly be able to draw 3 better cards then were in your hand. It does help avoid things like Sword of Plowshare, but I don't think it's overpowered. If you were right about the testing it wouldn't have been reprinted after so long.

Rather than "going off", I use this for two kinds of decks:
-Lots of creatures and no removal protection (this gives you some card filtering/draw while limiting their removal's effectiveness)
-Lots of pumps + high power. Gives you the ability to stay relevant in a long game

Also, it's awesome card filtering late game with Pulse of the tangle. You filter three cards for 3 mana, and quickly get to what you need.

Combine it with a gaea's blessing so you never draw yourself to death. Only need 1-2 of those.

The best part about it is, it cost no mana to use and has no timing restrictions. Meaning when this hits the field, anything with 4 power or greater will be impossible to use removal on or else you will just sacrifice and draw cards.

I feel its balanced though.

@BegleOne: It's not quite true to say it's only useful for creatures with power 4 or greater. With power 3 it's still draw 3 then discard 3 which is pretty hefty card selection (assuming your hand isn't empty, of course).

And if your deck plans to use the graveyard as a resource then even losing a 1/1 when you've got an empty hand lets you effectively mill yourself for free: more fodder for your Creeping Renaissance, dredge, or whatever else you plan to capitalise on it with.

This card is deceptively good. At first I wasn't really sure how great it would be, but then I considered it deeper... This card can be absolutely amazing. In any green deck with mana ramp and tons of big creatures, this gives you an amazing response to removal. It also prevents your opponent from exiling your creatures. Fecundity! Phyrexian Dreadnought lets you draw 13 for 1!! With Death's Presence you could also give 13 +1/+1 counters to another creature. Proper Burial also gets me 13 life. Lifeline? Lumberknot. Moonlit Wake. Dark Prophecy as a second option to Fecundity. Grave Pact. Arc Runner / Ball Lightning / Cosmic Larva...

i think what everyone fails to realize is this was in the same set as rancor.
all you need is 2 rancors and you've found yourself a 2 mana draw card mechanism with a large digging shovel (aka impulse in green).
