There's a reason this card is expensive. Imagine a token based or creature heavy deck with access to a fast, cheap sacrifice outlet.
It could very easily spiral out of control. I have a deck which sacrifices at least one creature a turn, and the counter build-up from this would easily have me with creatures rivalling Emrakul very quickly.

I love how this is almost exactly like the rules text of Kresh the Bloodbraided , save the fact that it's only your creatures that add the counters not everyone else. Everyone gets to be Kresh!! So here's the big EDH question of the day: Does this effect stack with Kresh the Bloodbraided? As in, one of your 5/5 creatures die, and you target Kresh with this. Does he then get 10 +1/+1 counters, or only 5? Need to know, since this definitely isn't an abstract question for me, as Kresh is in my life a lot and just pulled a foilDeath's Presence at the prerelease

@ cardraptor6: Yes, this ability would stack with Kresh.

This card will definitely help Golgari decks and other zombie decks that rely on the graveyard to work. I know people keep saying this, but this thing's green, for which there are numerous ways to ramp. I'll list a few -
Once you have the mana, cast this, and then start abusing things that can come back from the graveyard, like Gravecrawler or Geralf's Messenger. If you can work the Grimgrin, Corpse-born / Rooftop Storm / Gravecrawler combo in there somewhere, not only will you have an infinite counter combo, but an infinite counter combo for ALL creatures!
Even the guy in the art looks like Kresh (from the vault version).
I mean, the braids, the face paint...
All they added was a Golgari jacket. Yeah Wizards, you can't fool us: that's Kresh.
or Fresh, his Ravnican brother.

In Standard right now it'd be pretty easy to get a third turn Corpsejack Menace, a fourth turn Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, and then this on turn five. Someone may be able to figure out a way to do that all a turn faster, but I'm not that slick. Either way, you could cause a whole lot of life loss very quickly by sacrificing something as small as a 3/3 to Jarad, then putting 6 counters on the menace and saccing that as well. There's a deck in there somewhere, for sure.

I use it in a green\black deathtouch standard deck, along with Ghoultree and Essence Harvest as combos in the late game (obviously). Lots of life, lots of counters, and lots of death.

How on earth is this card rated so low?
I dominated in limited using this with Jarad, Golgari Lich lord.
By using his sacrifice another creature ability, I was able to make each player lose 5 life.... for 3 mana, then everyone to lose 10 mana for another 3 mana, And the 12 the next go.
Combining with corpsejack menace its double!
Even with older cards this thing has its uses, especially with Jarad and lord of extinction.
4.5/5
Perhaps its slightly over costed.

God, this card belongs in any green deck. I'm gonna get this and add it to all of my green commander decks and possible some of my slower legacy green decks.
This card will be so awesome in my Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper commander deck as I have so many creatures dying every turn...

I was running this in a fairly casual deck and managed to get this, Rancor, Intrepid Hero, Sublime Archangel, and a few other creatures out at the same time.
I had no idea that kind of wacky synergy was in my deck before that, it was quite a fun play.
2/5. This card would be so much better if its CMC was at 3 or 4. At a CMC of 6 its too expensive for limited and competitive constucted. Casual formats will love this for its late game power advantage.

I use this in my Golgari +1/+1 counter deck.
My main creature I use is Corpsejack Menace X4.
So if one of my creatures dies I get to put double the amount of +1/+1 for each Corpsejack out with Death's Presence. (2 corpsejack = quadruple counters =D)
Then I use cards that bring back creatures from the graveyard to the Battlefield. Such as Vigor Mortis, Unearth, Unburial Rights, Twilight's Call etc.
Or Combo with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. Sacrifice creature, put counters on another, sacrifice, and good game.
Excellent to play with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. With enough mana available in one turn, three sacrificed creatures turn into incrementally large chunks of life drain. Start with a 6/6 ready to be sacked by Jarad, feed a 1/1 all the counters, sac it, feed another 1/1, sac it, and the opponent loses 21 life. Golgari tactics at their finest. Definitely a fave.

If you play this on turn 6, you're playing it wrong.
Sounds good with Ogre Slumlord a non-token creature dies and you get a deathtouch rat and pile counters on it! If the token rat dies you don't get a new rat but can still pile counters on something else.

STANDARD ***!
(Sorry it's not auto-carded, I'm doing this off my mobile)
This + Ooze Flux + Master Biomancer + Gyre Sage = Potentially unlimited Oozes that either get bigger if you kill them, or gets more if you kill them....
If you can get around 8 counters onto Sage, tap for 8 Forest - make four 2/2's which will all become 4/4 if you have Master Biomancer out.... When each one dies, you'll get 4 counters to put onto a creature of your choice.. If you go Sage, you get more tokens, if you go Master Biomancer, you'll get stronger tokens.. and this keeps repeating...
and the more times your opponent kills your creatures, the more counters you get back... so killing the Ooze tokens won't be a problem...
Oh and just imagine the insanity if Doubling Season or the alternative - Corpsejack Menace and Parallel Lives were on the field... hehehehehehee
Nice evil deck I'm gonna build...

Disgusting card. Wish it honestly cost more, was harder to play, something. The power level on this is psychotic. Maybe too slow for most formats, but without exception every game I've seen it resolve in, it won. By the time you naturalize, its too late. I would easily pay the same mana for a card that only distributed 2 counters and only counted non-tokens. And why, why on earth is this mono-green and not g/b? Being able to play this with barely a splash of green is sickening.
