Oh, s**t it's back. Already one of the highest rated black cards on the gatherer and for good reason.

I would say the M14 rules change actually makes this guy a little better, since an opponent can't play their own to negate yours anymore.

I really don't get the big deal with this fella. Also, how the hell is this rated higher than Tolarian Academy (ignoring banned status)? I mean, seriously, that card is hundreds of times better than this.

I would say the M14 rules change makes this guy significantly worse, since you can no longer kill someone outright by dropping 4 off of a Dragonstorm.

@Exofori I am going to disagree. It's strong, But I personally find Yosei, the Morning Star to be the best. If used right, he is basically a time walk. With recursion (Corpse Dance for instance...), it is a pretty hard lock.
I wouldn't say this guy is weak though. I think he is just overrated. This is probably all just my EDH bias talking though. I just think people are too afraid of him.
Well, people were afraid of him as in a one-on-one playing a second would net you 10 life and have them down ten.Footsteps of the Goryo and Vengeance of the Goryo did terrible, terrible things with this guy too.
In multiplayer it sometimes would *** off everyone and make you a target... but you'd have so much life you wouldn't care.
New rules change don't help this guy massive. I think only Jugan gets any true new synergy.

Evening Star, the god that truly deserved Vampire Nocturnus' flavor text:
"Your life will set with the sun."
The strangest way I've won a game with Kokusho was by Dismembering her. Great flavor though. "The evening would better serve Phyrexia.... everywhere."
Remember having this guy swing with fireshrieker attached. Didn't block because I didn't want my opponent to gain life... Later that turn, fling Point being, there can be no victory.

One of my favorite dragons in MTG and my favorite of the cycle (Yosei comes in a very close second).
@SAUS3: You have some valid points about Yosei; in a vacum he can be more powerful, but I still think Kokusho has more power potential. Yosei can techinically end the game (keeping your oppoenent locked down each turn), while Kokusho can end the game the turn it hits; 6 lands + Kokusho + Palinchron/Great Whale + Recurring Nightmare = Profit (Victory)

Thanks to the new Legend rule, enchanting this guy with Followed Footsteps is pretty hilarious. Puts all of your opps on a pretty short clock.

He got slightly weaker with the new legend rule. Now casting a 2nd will not make your opponent lose 10 health and you gain 10, it will only send one of yours to the graveyard.

For all you "new legend rule makes him worse" people: Tempt with Reflections. Hard to resist making a copy (as another player), but at the cost of 5 life per controller's opponent.

Much more fair with the new rule, but still an uber play, and can still be a big chunk of a Dragonstorm insta-kill.
Time to hit The Bing to see if there's one out there that I can afford!

@Atali
Why not just run Bogardan Hellkite then?
