Cast this Turn 3, Turn 4 your opponent draws a card and smirks at gaining card advantage, swing, and then cast Tormented Thoughts? Could be a fun play.
I feel like they made sure it didn't combo with Spirit of the Labyrinth- they're drawing on your turn, not theirs, so they still get it. Then again, I guess BW aggro would be pretty brutal.

Good for Black Discard Decks that have made their opponent already discard their whole hand. Megrim and Liliana's Caress with some Specters, you get mega damage mega fast.
Even when you don't see it in that regard, it's a 5/5 flyer for 3 mana, so it's gonna be stronger than most other creatures in the early game. As the game continues, use him to kill an enemy's 5/5 and they lose the bonus that Master of the Feast gives them.

Great thing about this is they draw the card on YOUR upkeep. Let them draw it, then use some discard ability (since most are sorceries). This would work great in a discard deck to set em up.

Black creature with drawback, I approve.
That said, 5/5 black flyer is damn hard to kill, that's FOUR swings to kill an opponent, theoretically on par with Desecration Demon in terms of lethality.

The design skeleton entry of "Flying Fattie" was also used as the Art Descr!ption.
Fantastic with all of the Black archetypes. Increases the power of Mill decks for UB, swings for cheap in MBC, is a tight clock in X/B aggro, and double-black for devotion. Also works with Draw-triggers such as Notion Thief and Underworld dreams, and makes sure your discard abilities have targets if the game goes long.

Good thinking Wizards. Black Devotion definitely needed more tech to help it win.
Big 5/5 for only 3CMC? Opponents drawing a card isn't a huge downside, especially on your turn if you're running discard. This will be a big problem to deal with in limited.

Nekusar fattened him up by force-feeding him cards.
Feast: Excellent, inform king Nekusar that we're ready to proceed.

@Pendulous: using discard while giving them extra cards sounds absolutely terrible. When casting this, you want to make it so the extra cards you give them won't matter because you'll be killing them, no trading 1-for1..

Turn 3: drop the fatty Turn 4 Give him the armament of nyx , swing for 10 in air. Turn 5: GG
Granted that was in limited I only pulled that move off one but with such rapid damage potential I get the feeling he's going to he's definitely going to see play in standard and commander.
I am very much looking forward to this card for my blue black deck. Play this turn three, and watch my opponent try to be clever by waiting till my upkeep to kill it off, when I'll have already untapped for a Psychic Strike.

You could play it on turn four and respond to the trigger with Notion Thief on turn five I suppose, but beyond that this guy is merely large with a huge drawback.
He could have easily cost , compare to hunted horror, making your opponents draw cards is pretty bad, even when it's a 3 mana 5/5 flyer, they'll just draw into an out for him, especially in this removal heavy standard, or worse, a way to lock him down so you can't beat face and they can keep drawing cards.

i feel like this set, and this card particularly, would've benefited from the foglios' touch... (also would've been cool to see guay draw some nymphs/sirens, a mark tedin cerberus, etc etc...) cool card, anyway, and kudos to chris rahn
Seems made for Waste Not, coming out in the next core set. This gives you a very efficient beater stapled to a Howling Mine that lets you discard their card (and get benefit from discarding it) before they can play it (well, as long as its not an instant).

I ATE A BABY!
@Fenix.: That's only true if your discard spells only hit for one card. Or if you don't use damage trigger discard flyers. Personally, I think this fat bastard might actually edge a Hypnotic Specter out of my ancient discard deck.

May I introduce you my response to your master of the feasts: Pacifism
I opened 2 of these at the Prerelease in my sealed pool. Needless to say, I was very happy to have him out turn three, then give him Armament of Nyx turn 4 and swing a 5/5 flying doublestriker against my opponent's empty board. Tied for fastest limited game I've had. I also had a game where I had this guy turn 3, another turn 4 and a gray merchant turn 5. That was fun.
@DaLucaray - dude, yeah Wizards probably did... but let's say you're playing B/W, 1. of all, having the opponent drawing a card isn't that much of an downside since he is a FAT (pun intended) 5/5 flyer... 2. of all, think about it, if you have 2 - 4 Master of the Feast on the field, also with a Spirit of the Labrynth you are getting massive advantage.... and just to top it all of... have a Athreos just to make it harder for the opponent to kill them off!! ;)

This card is an absolute bomb in limited. Its out of the reach of most non-rare removal in the format, has a huge body and flies. The card penalty is mostly meaningless in limited because your opponent rarely can ever play a threat that will adequately respond to it quickly enough.
However, if you play this guy, you need to be sure and side him out if you have any reason to believe they're playing Pin to the Earth or Akroan Mastiff. You will almost always lose if either is active and unanswered.

Wow. 'Power Creep' is even catching up with Juzam Djinn! This guy is cheaper AND has flying!!! Hopefully, you'll play this guy close enough to the end of the game that the extra card or two won't matter. If your deck is fast enough, the end of the game will hopefully be very close to the beginning of the game! I just absolutely wrecked a Standard tourney with a couple of these fat bastards. I'm really, really lovin' this card!

As a player very averse to giving his opponents easy card advantage, I believe in most cases a one-of Master of the Feast is worse for your deck than any reasonable card you can think of: an extra Swamp, a Herald of Torment, or a Bile Blight. While you can sometimes steal a game because they can't find something to deal with it in time, you come close to conceding to your opponent when they draw an extra card and then Hero's Downfall (or Unravel the AEther / Reprisal / what have you) it. At that point your chance of winning drastically diminishes, and it requires virtually no work from your opponent.
There are some exceptions of course. You could give it haste via, say, Hammer of Purphoros, then it becomes good because they now have to take 5 before they can get any card out of it. You could also protect it with Ajani's Presence or Gods Willing so they can't stop the damage. Another option is to sideboard it in against players who cannot remove it at instant speed. Without these considerations or support though, the Master is an very dangerous card to play in the maindeck, and can easily lose you more games than it wins you.

And a nice counterpart to Desecration Demon.
I shall try him in Modern with Mark of the Oni.
