It gives a win condition for discard themed decks that may be creature light.

With Liliana's Caress in M11, this won't see much play anymore. Still, pretty cool card.

Ah, Megrim. The ultimate little kid card. Well, non-creature one, anyway.

@Belz_:

You clearly underestimate the power of both this and Liliana's Caress in the same deck.

Also, if it matters to you, Caress can't eat at your opponents planeswalkers. Would that matter to you?

It is better than liliana's caress, because of furnace of wrath and any other damage modifier used to your advantage.

Everyone seems to try to make a deck around this card, at one point or another. However, it's much more difficult than it seems at first glace: You have to deal with the fact that after making them discard oh, 3 cards, your opponent's hand will usually be empty. I have only seen this work in one deck- one that used Urza's Guilt. Even then, it doesn't work ALL the time!

Honestly a 2/2 Split between this and Caress will treat you best. If they have Energy Field out, you can still win. If they have planeswalkers, you can still kill them. People always think it's "one's better" "run a playset of each" or some such, but really, it's in between.

This is just like Shrieking Affliction and The Rack
