STOP!

HAMMER TIME!

Fantastic card, best of the God's weapons.

Also, side note, the Golem tokens are sweeeet.

Giving everything haste is already a very good effect. Being able to make any and all extra lands into hasty threats only makes this better. As someone who doesn't like mana flood I quite like this card.

Quiver in fear before the awesome power of my...5th land!!!
I used to be being sarcastic when I saying that, but now...

Well that's exciting.

I'm liking the weird creature types in Theros; it's giving a lot of love to fairly mediocre tribals. And this card is AMAZING in any competent RDW.

I'm fairly sure enchantment artifact creature token was the result of a drunken R&D bet.

Holy crap has Fervor been mega-outclassed! Contributes to Devotion, adds to Metalcraft, turns unwanted lands into huge threats that combo with Precursor Golem.

"a 3/3 colorless Golem enchantment artifact creature token"

Needs more words.

Oh my.
Nice use of those excess lands in RDW.

It turns your lands into enchantment artifact creature tokens.

... I wonder what it would turn planeswalkers into.

This is an excellent late game card for mono-red decks that have a bunch of lands they don't necessarily need due to their low mana curve. Got extra lands? Use them to make hasty Golem tokens!

Makes any late top-deck in RDW relevant.

Also Enchantment, Artifact, Creature, Everything, Golem tokens are sweet.

There might be a few janky Splicer decks with this, though I do love how ridiculously Red this card's flavor is. Who needs lands, just whack the sucker with a giant metal guy and keep burning stuff cheap.

Can't decide between this and Whip of Erebos. This is just so synergistic in so many ways. 3/3 haste that deals 2 when it ETBs is just awesome.

An interesting take on Fires of Yavimaya, which is one of my favorite cards. It's a shame there's no intrinsic way to make multiple copies of this card more relevant like there is with Fires.

Fires of Yavimaya gives +2/+2 once. This makes almost unlimited 3/3 haste tokens. Which one is better? From another viewpoint, every single card in your 60, aside from the first 3 lands, is now business. It's as if you've thinned out all ~18 lands from your remaining deck for three mana. Now tack that on Fervor.

I tested my RDW against my control decks. A Hammer of Purphoros not dealt with is usually game over within a few turns.

Colourless golem enchantment artifact creature token.

GG.

This is the card I am most excited for in this set. I plan on putting it in my Tajic EDH deck because it is an awesome haste enabler as well as a way to create battalions in an emergency.

When I saw Lightning Mauler rotating out of standard, I was like :(

But then I saw Wizards show this, and I was like 0_o

Can't wait to abuse this on release day and watch as people who don't play enchantment or artifact removal get steam rolled by my Naya humans deck!

With Fervor, after board-wipe: Urgh, all my creatures...

With this, after board-wipe: What's that? A board-wipe? Fine, I'll just start chucking these lands at you instead.

By today's standard, a 3/3 costs 2 mana at least while a 3/3 with haste costs 3 mana at least, so the cost is totally fine as it is. I certainly won't mind topdecking this either.

Now THIS is something I could see coming out of Purphoros's passion for Nylea.

I pulled this in the theros release draft, my opponent got hammerd with 3/3 haste creatures when i started sacking my lands... my life was virtually untouched in that game... I love this card! Oh yeah,Fervor , meet your better half!

Its second ability is terrible when it first comes out - but then I like to imagine it takes Puphoros a few turns till he's settled into his workshop and can begin destroying mountains.

TG: got it from purphoros
EB: who's that?
TG: really tough to kill dude
EB: you killed him for it?
TG: nope
EB: how'd you get it then?

Purphoros is by far my favorite card in the set flavor wise. He seems to be a mixture of Ares (god of war and filled with rage), Hephaestus(He forged the god's weapons same with Purphoros), and Prometheus (Creator of man and Giver of fire). As such His hammer creatures very Human looking Golem tokens at the sacrifice of a land, similar to how man was created out of mud by Prometheus. These cards just make me spill all my Vorthos out and reminds me of when Magic had a story. This set is amazing...

I guess this is the replacement for Fires? Not saying it isn't good, but that second ability probably takes it out of my price range for a while.

And of course, add the Hammer's owner to the mix, and all those golems you're creating have a Shock tacked on for ETB. The downside is they fall to creature, artifact, or enchantment removal, so any color other than Blue can deal with them easily.

This is really good with splicers and precursor golem. I also really like universal haste because if your opponent locks you down, you can only survive with haste. Example, they play the annoying black gorgon that turns your stuff into artifacts with prophet of kruphix. The only way to survive this is storing up a bunch of creatures in your hand and giving the haste.

Enchantment artifact creatures. Perfect sacrifice material for Shattergang Brothers, wouldn't you say? 6 mana and sac a land to make each opponent sacrifice your choice of an enchantment, an artifact, or a creature.

Cons: dies to artifact kill spells

Pros: when you run out of gas, you instead don't

Does anyone know how the tokens work with Opalescence? I'm assuming they turn to 0/0s and die as a state-based effect, right?

Why is this rated so much lower than Fervor? This is pretty much unaffected by the legendary drawback since Haste doesn't stack anyway, and creating 3/3s is amazing in an aggro deck that runs out of steam and/or gets land flooded. I understand that it isn't strictly better due to the mana cost, but devotion is turning that into an advantage. Yes, this can be destroyed by artifact removal as well, most commonly used artifact removal takes out enchantments as well (Ancient Grudge is probably the most played exception, but Fervor is way too weak for any format with Ancient Grudge in it now).

In limited formats cards like these can win games if left unchecked, so really good in that respect. I'm confused though. Fervor has a rating over 4. Why is this rated so low in comparison? For a slightly more mana intensive card (read:better in devotion), you get the same effect and more. They are the same rarity as well. Besides the legendary and the fact that the hammer is also an artifact, which hardly matters when one considers how the vast majority of removal takes out artifacts and enchantments both. Also, fervor can't win games by itself.

Anytime you're comparing gatherer ratings, you're pretty much using different scales. Every card rating is only based on the people who probably random'd onto the card while looking for cards to rate. Or to pointlessly downrate or uprate.

If you combo this with Dominus of Fealty, not only do you have a pretty reliable source of tokens, you also get a pretty steady source of land destruction.

Hell yeah, Fervor is back in standard

So in a trade off of artifact removal, it gained the ability to turn useless lands into sweet rock tokens

I think this is pretty underrated right now, especially considering how many creatures want haste in theros as well as Ravnica

Plus, that golem ability can lead to some really clutch plays

4/5, its never useless in the right deck
