In Theros, with all the bestow running around, a tapper is far better than most anywhere else. Do't underestimate this guy in limited.

People are waaayyyy underrating this in draft. "That damn well should be a 0 mana ability?" Get out of here. Sure, the body for the cost isn't huge, but an unconditional tapper at common is something that's been desperately needed in this format where enchantment-stacked 8/8s and larger frequently go unchecked.

This is one of those cards where Hound seems a bit silly. R&D doesn't want Dog to be a creature type, but when we have such cuddly fellows as this guy being hounds. Also, tappers in Theros, it has been said, but they are good, even if they seem weak compared to Gideon's Lawkeeper.

I do so love the flavor here. "SUDDENLY, YOU ARE TACKLED BY A FRIENDLY DOGE!"

As a casual player who mainly plays with commons and uncommons, even I find this to be quite expensive for what it does.
As it has been said, this creature's power is much much more appreciated in limited where "battleships" (i.e. creatures beefed up with enchantments) are predominant and removal is scarce, it shines quite brightly there.

For a 4 mana creature, that damn well should be a 0 mana ability...
- also a common - same casting cost - same stats - much better creature types - no mana cost for he ability - possibility of being able to use it multiple times per turn
Oh man. You have NO IDEA how frustrating it is, Going to the prerelease, And watching your voltrons getting tapped down by two of these things, While two Nyx-Fleece Rams are "baa-a-a"ing at you every opponent's upkeep.

In limited, your opponent will be your b_tch. It'll be really ruff going for your opponent's fatties, leaving them to chase their tails.
(I really should leave the bad puns to LSV. But in all seriousness, it's a definite role player, even though the extra +1/+1 may not be worth the extra 3 mana over Gideon's Lawkeeper.)

The flavor is is actually really good, Until this situation came to my mind.
The mighty god Xenagos rises to the battlefield, Ready to kick untold amounts of ass. Then, Suddenly, A dog comes out of nowhere and tackles the titanic god to the ground.

This thing has done work for me in many a draft. Works especially well with WB life drain/pelting, but helps get a lot of other things through as well. The 2/2 body comes in handy when it needs to as well.

edit: Come on guys, haven't you ever heard of Minister of Impediments?
BTW, why is it able to tap a flyer? The artwork shows the dog juping on a grounded person.
Limited lockdown, would love to see this is my pool.
