Sigh. She's good, and a good general for Ninja decks. But she lacks panache. She's an enchantment that reads "It's slightly easier for you to win", not a Commander.

So I'm trying to determine if this is a good card or not. I mean for Commander, not for other formats. So the first ability matches Bellowing Tanglewurm's ability except this gives intimidate to all your creatures regardless of their color. Another card I can compare that ability to is Cover of Darkness. A good, yet narrow card. Personally I would use cover of darkness over her in a ninja deck but that isn't what we are looking at. But the closest enchantment would be Intimidation. Now I know intimidate is often considered better then fear. But I would disagree with you. Sure, Moonlace makes your creature with intimidate unblockable by everything except for artifacts, but are you really going to use a slot in your deck for that card? I didn't think so. Plus for each color your creature is it becomes more and more likely that they are going to be blocked. So I ask again. Is Giving all your creatures intimidate worth a mythic spot? Not sure. Is it worth a rare slot? I would like to think it is. Eldrazi and artifact creatures seem to be the best cards to benefit from her. As for her last ability. When ever a creature or Vela enters the battlefield each opponent loses one life. Hmm. I tried to find a card that matched that ability but just couldn't. The ability seems more like an annoyance then a threat. But then again thats all you might need. The closest thing I could find to that effect was Vigilante Justice and Psychosis Crawler. Although Justice is damage and targets and crawler is when you draw cards. But does this maker her mythic worthy? And I think my conclusion is yes. Her intimidate ability wouldn't make her worthy of the title. But the unusual ability to cause life loss to each opponent when she or other creature enter the battlefield under your control with that ability does fill the niche that is sometimes required for mythic status.
Over all, I'm excited for the Ninja deck and can't wait to get my copy.

Suits a Ninja Commander deck fine. She's always there to be cast, and makes your ninjas unblockable, and their bouncing in and out makes more pain for your opponents. Just about the only downside is the mana cost, and the fact that she isn't a ninja.

"I laugh in the face of Boardwipe. Ha, hahahaha ha." Blue black tokens needs to be a thing now.

I'd really prefer it if she gave Fear. An Intimidating Fusion Elemental is practically the same. But a Fear-full one would be, potentially, quite scary indeed.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm waiting to hear more on this Vela/Krond rivalry

Vela has some nice artwork, and the leave play ability screams "Break me!" She deters boards wipes, makes combos, and makes your stuff harder to block. She's great in the precon or as a Commander in EDH. Speaking of the precon,I love the synergy that the Ninja deck has.
all the Ninjas have combo potential with her, both in their Ninjutsu abilities and in the intimidate. However, almost all the other cards combo well with the Ninjas too. Bounce a Baleful Strix and draw another card. Bounce a Augery Owl and Scry 3 again. The unblockables help you hit your Ninjutsus, and the Sai of the Shinobis give your ninjas more umph when they sneak in. All in all a great precon.

Wydwen, the Biting Gale or Sygg, River Cutthroat are better "Ninja" commander in every way however Vela ain't a bad Addition into a ninja deck as most EDH is high converted mana cost.

I've been thinking of a way to have fun with her....Teferi's Veil, or Teferi's Realm...phasing is going to make a comeback. Her wording is such that if you choose creatures, and you have 5 in play, that's 5 life per opponent!

Clearly made for a ninja deck, I think she could be very good used correctly, she gives intimidate so with ninjas Memnite, ornithopter, and phyrexian walker become amazing because you can just Ninjutsu them out and re-cast them after combat, she needs to be built around but any card that doesn't isn't a card I want to use, especially as a commander
@ Voluk It's when they leave battlefield not enter. Like bouncing it dying exiling anything when it leaves battlefield.

She looks like Charlize Theron :) Yeah, she'll be a general for me, I don't expect the deck to be to powerfull, but it ought to be fun punishing global removal.

I love the comments about hows she isn't a good commander or not a ninja commander she gives ALL your creatures intimidate too. The losing life thing is a benefit not the focus of the card.

She's basically Lady Gaga and that's why I love her! I have a Vela EDH deck that has a bunch of sneaky creatures and some bounce/discard effects to keep opponents off balance. The life loss really creeps up, underestimate Vela at your own risk.

I like her more for Blue-Black Zombies than for Ninjas. I already have the skeleton of a Zombie token horde for multiplayer, she'll fit right in with the Diregraf Captains.
@MANABURNWASGOOD Phasing does not trigger enter or leave the battlefield effects, this is different from when Phasing was first printed in Mirage, I'm not exactly sure when they made the change, but Phasing is really not abusable anymore.
Wow stunning card art. She's makes fae and specters THAT much scarier.

Paired with Worldfire, Vela could win a game. On the other hand, what are the odds that such a combination could come to fruition?

Strange that she doesn't read 'Creatures you control have intimidate', like her buddy Maelstrom Wanderer.

@Arcanoi - It's because she actually has the ability, not that she grants it to herself.

Hi guys i have a question on this one - a friend used rite of replication on her n it cause 36 points of life loss to everyone else - since each vela that leaves only causes one point of life loss, shouldn't it be 6x1 = 6 life loss instead of 6x6? Please enlighten me.

I really, really wanted to like this card. After all, it's tailor-made for Ninjas, as others have mentioned. But after playing the deck as is, then modified, then modified without Vela, I have to say the third option works best.
What she does is obviously awesome for Ninjas, but she just shows up too late to make a noticeable difference in a game. Typically by the time I got her out my strategy had switched from using ninjutsu on my small unblockable creatures to simply swinging for the win with my finishers (Higure, the Still Wind, Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni, and Silent-Blade Oni) and cards like Distortion Strike and Shadow Rift. In the games that I played, I think the most life she caused my opponent to lose was 4.
Overall I think she would have been much more useful had she been a two- or even three-drop. This is just my experience though, yours may differ.

Thinking about making her my EDH General in my mill deck that currently has Wrexial at the Helm. The intimidate would help.

Since too many of you are too focused on her affinity with the contents of the pre-con pack to realise this much im just going to go on a whim an say...
COLORLESS CREATURES WITH INTIMIDATE ARE SCARY...
Think about it... her with any eldrazi, artifact creature or any effect that changes a creature's color can make her an extremely effective commander...
Cards like glamerdye for a start, become more useable. besides that maybe you'd want to run devastation tide to re-activate all those ETB effects you set off the first time to compliment her leaves the battlefield effect...

@blueMag Your friend is correct. While only 6 of them die, each of the 6 have the ability, too. So each 6 triggers the ability on each 6. 6x6 = 36.
she doesn't sound half bad in Dimir control either but then again she seems more tailored for those decks that constantly bounce cards (FE: Ninjas and Zombie token)

She'll do. Add Runed Stalactite to make her a Ninja.
