A legend amongst Faerie kind, Wydwen always has a biting insult to unleash upon whoever crosses her stormy path. She comes and goes as she pleases and isn't concerned by anyone. I only wish we knew more about her. As a card, she definitely is very good - fairly costed, surprising and great when you stack combat damage to return her to your hand. A pain for opponents to get rid of and fantastic in Limited. Unfortunately, there are so many other great Faeries in the 4 casting cost slot that she rarely manages to find space in decks. A pity because she's gorgeous and mysteriously cool!

Cool flavorful card. Nice art and has potential combat tricks. Hard to kill as long as you have the mana. Not a game winner but can really control the red zone.

Heh, she got nerf'd on m2010. Still, she is good when coupled with other fairy cards, like fairae's tautings and such.
I can't spell.

I have a couple of this in my Grixis deck and they go like a thunder with legs; note that its not necessary to use it on a faeries deck. A shame the cost to return it to hand is a little expensive... be both mana or the life you lose, but well, having one in hand and 4 lands untapped on an opponent turn make this card worthy. Beside been legendary it has no drawbacks and the casting cost is VERY decent, a card to have in mind when making a {U}/{B} deck.

Just looking at her makes me want to build a Faerie deck with her as the star.
Then I remember that I'd have to shell $48 for a playset of Bitterblossom. Hell, for that money I could build an entire deck that would probably play better. Sigh.

Interesting to note, this is the only black faerie with flash.

While she fits in well with the Faerie style (appearing and disappearing instantaneously), Wydwen could be the weakest of the two-color Lorwyn legends. She's not bad by any means, but, compared to Nath of the Gilt-Leaf, Gaddock Teeg, Brion Stoutarm and Wort, Boggart Auntie, it seems that Faeries lost out in that cycle. Faeries are good enough without her anyway.

Player 1: I attack with my hypnotic specter- you get 2 damage and discard a card at random! Player 2: Nope! (casts wydwen, the biting gale) Player 1: FFFUUU...!

Ah Wydwen, my favorite Commander General ever. Not only can you run the two best colors for the format, but she's an offensive general that's nearly impossible to kill. The fact that bouncing her doesn't increase her actual casting cost makes her all that much better. Giver her a couple of swords to carry or just use her as a instant-speed trick. She's the perfect General in my opinion: fast, cheap, and can survive pretty much anything.

I don't see whst's so legendary about her. They could have called her "Glen Elendra Nemesis" and be done with it. 3.5

If they only made her 3/4, I don't doubt she would be an absolute beast as a control finisher. Just as she is, giving the opponent the opportunity to make you pay 2 mana, 1 life and re-cast her only spending an insignificant bolt makes me think about it... yet I love the design, seems very solid. I LOVE flash, specially in blue...

Even if you just throw her onto the battlefield with the leftover mana from that Dissipate you could've cast or that Rewind, she is still extremely useful. Espicially with the returning to your hand as well.

She used to be much better pre-M10 combat damage rules. Damage used to go onto the stack; one would flash her in, block, and if she would be killed, her controller would just rescue her with her built-in bounce ability, which is why it costs life to do so. At the same time, the damage she would deal still got dealt to the attacking creature.

This is a really neat EDH general for smaller games. She definitely deserves more than just 3 stars. Comes great with equipments like Quietus Spike + enchantments like Wound Reflection, for example.
A good way to "abuse" her bounce and flash ability is also to put a lot of spells like Damnation or Black Sun's Zenith, for example, into your deck. This way you always can clean the board, if things get ugly, while still being able to rescue your general before it happens.
Although harder to protect, any games with above 3 players, I defenitely would prefer Oona over Wydwen, though. Anyway, really a lovely card (especially as a Commander)! 4.5/5
