Love this card in limited! He chump blocks twice, triggers Mentor of the Meek and Unruly Mob twice, can turn on Morbid on two separate turns, and has a bunch of synergy with other cards in the set. All for 1 mana! So happy I got two for my league.

Someone asked " 'when it dies' does that trigger if it's saced?" The answer is yes. "When it dies" is triggered when a creature goes from the battlefield to the graveyard, whether it's destroyed by an effect, killed in combat, or sacrificed.
This is going to be a handy little card in my Human deck.

Strictly better than Storm Crow... I'm not even joking here. One W and you get a human (for cards like Angelic Overseer and the like) that can be used as a chump blocker or a sac card, and then you immediately get a spirit with FLYING that can also either be used as a swinger (if or if not buffed), a flying chump blocker, and another sac card.
I love wrath protected creatures and now there are TWO for 1 mana with Tukatongue Thallid. Two problems with my primary Cataclysm deck are the high cost of creatures that survive it and the small number that can block fliers. This alleviates both problems.

The Sprouting Thrinax of Innistrad? Better in that it maintains the mana:power ratio but gives the token flying and can be dropped turn one. But worse because a 3/3 and three 1/1s is more versatile than two 1/1s, even with flying.

i love this card 2 creatures for 1 mana whats not to love? you could do so much with this card i thought it sucked at first untill i played with it
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, this card is amazing in limited. Probably the best common 1-drop in the format.

In the fullness of time, this may come to be seen as the all round best magic card ever printed.
The card is it's own wee story dammit, a story told by the mechanic.
The unmatched flavour, the simple but profound mechanic, the art, the variety of tribal and combo uses, the fact that it is as comfortable in a commons kitchen table game as it is in competitive play there's nothing about it that's not perfect.
It seems like the community is catching on to the power of getting a free creature (particularly in limited).

Undercut it's rating by .5 of a star since 4.6/5 is a stupid rating for this card. Granted it's good, but not 4.6/5. That rating is reserved for Geist of Saint Traft and similar whoop ass cards. 3.5/5.

I feel that Wizards wants us to play 4-color token decks. It's a sad feeling. So first, they want us to play white tokens. Then they want us to play {W}{B} because of Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and Lingering Souls. Then, they want us to play {G}{W}{B} because of Parallel Lives. And finally, they want us to play non-red because of Moorland Haunt and Drogskol Captain.
I'm sticking with {W}{B}.

@farkas70proof: yes, the ability would trigger. death is defined as being put into the graveyard from the battlefield, so if you sac'ed this guy you would get his soul.

This guy synergizes very nicely with Falkenrath Aristocrat. You get to give your Aristocrat +1/+1 and you get a free flyer to boot.
