Good P/T for converted casting cost. Good abilities and good in a 'Beast' tribal deck. A common to boot, nice card.

Decent card, I like the vigilance haste combo, you can play it attack with it and still block a creature the next turn.

... Huh, lol funny with all the comments I saw on Skyknight Legionnaire and all he's got is flying and haste and costs an extra one colorless to play,
(Which seems to be ironic, I'd think Vigilance would be prized more than flying lol. I'd take Vigilance over flying any day!!)
I kinda figured this one's star rating would've already been a five star and have even better comments.
No big deal or nothing, just thought it odd is all.
For a two drop I'd say he's better than a "Decent card"... But that's just me.
I mean to give a TWO drop both Vigilance AND Haste just seems insane! Attack as soon as hitting the board and being able to block still... Seems rather AWESOME for a common and a two drop!

It's a great card to start off. 2 mana means it hits the table on your second turn, and there's likely not something on the battlefield that can stop it at that point. And at the very same time, you halt your opponent's progress of hurting you, because 2/2 stats are good enough for the first few turns. Damage dealing and damage prevention in one card, which is what a red/white combo's about.
After several turns it will probably be nothing more but a chump blocker or bait, but it has done its job already by then so that's fine.

A 2/2 for 2 with 2 abilities?? Can't beat that.

In response to Eved, i understand your natural inclination to go with elvish warrior here. Elvish warrior does win in a one on one situation. What I really appreciate about Cerodon Yearling is its versatility. While the knights may have protection from a color, they are pretty much limited to your sideboard. Cerodon is useful whenever, and can be used in conjunction with other early game combos.
I also agree with AbyssalManZero. I would take vigilance over flying any day of the week.

in a naya deck i like to add rancor making him a 4/2 haste trample vigilence by turn 3 :)
Edit : I was just talking about cards that I see being played by my play-group. I was just explaing why I won't be playing a card I said was good. The list of creatures I named off are the weakest creatures my friends use.

Pauper only has one creature with both Vigilance and Haste. That's this guy. I gave it 4 stars just for that, but I can't help the feeling that Vigilance is largely wasted on low toughness creatures, and Haste is largely wasted on low power creatures. Compared to the other multicolored 2-drops I just feel this one kind of got shafted.
Deft Duelist is a common 2-drop with 2 abilities and it only needs to be on the field to ruin your opponent's day. Tidehollow Strix can kill almost any creature by itself. Steward of Valeron puts Vigilance to good use because it can for after it attacks. These guys contribute beyond an early hit for 2 and weenie blocking.
Sorry to be a downer here. Consider that, despite these two abilities, this creature only manages to trade with Runeclaw Bear, and dies outright to Youthful Knight and Nissa's Chosen. This card is mostly only useful if you go first, get him out on turn 2, and hope the enemy doesn't already have a Vampire Lacerator or one of the other 30 or so 2-power 1-drops MTG's ever seen. Then Skyknight Legionnaire is generally more likely to get a hit in regardless of when it's summoned because it can fly.
This is speaking from experience. Regarding the Cerodon vs Skyknight debate: I use both in my Boros deck, and honestly it's the Flying one that winds up being the better investment most of the time. Maybe it's because half the creatures in my deck have First Strike that the Cerodon seems lacking, or Rally the Righteous that doesn't let this guy's Vigilance really stand out. He gets the full benefit from Scourge of the Nobilis, but my other creatures generally make better use of it.
2CMC is a fantastic price to pay for a 2/2 with 2 abilities, which is why I rated this guy at 4 stars, but I think people are looking only the great deal they get and are ignoring the fine print. This guy doesn't contribute much to the fight if the fight's already started when he shows up.

I hate the fact that it makes Rip-Clan Crasher obsolete. The argument that one shouldn't compare creature with different color only applies to creatures that have more than one difference in ABILITIES, P/T, AND/or CMC. Rip-Clan Crasher has exact same P/T and CMC, but just lacks vigilance. This gives the impression that is better than .

The path of a Boros player's supremacy begins with this puppy.
I like how he's a Lightning Angel without the extra and buff. Opens up ideas for a UWR aggro-tempo deck.

I really like this card, but I'm not a fan of Wizards' decision that is the creature color and not ...

This card rocks for boros strategy. Haste is awesome, and vigilance is just gravy.

I love how close he is to being strictly better than Rip-Clan Crasher. However, I found 4 cards that punish the vigilance. 4. In the whole magic universe, these are the only cards that keep Rip-Clan Crasher barely situationally better than Cerodon Yearling. Here they are: Traitor's Roar, Ana Battlemage, Asphixiate, and Backlash. So Yearling is not strictly better than Rip-Clan Crasher, it's just better in any situation that will actually happen.

Garruk's Companion can be Giant Growthed to high heaven and can't very well be chump blocked.
Goblin Deathraiders with Fists of the Demigod is way more devastating than the Cerodon with Scourge of the Nobilis.
Goblin Legionnaire suicides to get past blockers any time, or protect a more valuable creature. Same colors even.
Not to mention the 'blade' cycle full of potential 3/2 with (flying/shroud/deathtouch/first strike) 2-drops.
Rip-Clan Crasher...... oh, right.
