I love to run this card in a mono-red deck...its invulnerable to white color and has first strike... white players will surely cringe against this knight...my favorite knight in MTG...

My favourite aspect of this card is how it could be viewed as a colour-shift of either Black Knight or Silver Knight. The flavour text makes it clear it's a reference to Black Knight, but it's fun as the only Planar Chaos colour-shift that could be shifted from either of two cards :) And of course, it's a very respectable two-drop as well.

A red Black Knight. A very good card, 2/2 with FS is good on it's own! But it's even protected from white so that makes it very good! 4/5!

Why didn't they call it Red Knight? That would follow the pattern. Also, I would like it better with pro. blue, just for originality. Pro. white's better, though, so no real complaints.

I think it's more likely a colour shift of Silver Knight, because the colour is reversed for the protection as well. I think if it was a colour shift of Black Knight it would have protection from blue. Other shifted cards with secondary colours (such as the costs of activated abilities etc.) follow this pattern.. like with Hedge Troll and Sedge Troll.

they should make this a complete cycle of knights with protection from one of their enemy colors White Knight vs black knight and blood knight viridian knight vs azure knight

In all honesty, though? The original flavor text makes more sense on this card than it did on black knight.

I don't know why some of you are speculating on whether this might be a timeshifted version of Silver Knight, it says that it's one of Black Knight in the Ruling Notes. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see them.) Of course regarding colors (and creature types) there is often a change involved to adapt the card to its new enemy/allied colors or better suiting creature types. But in Blood Knight's case there was already a completely suiting card available that could simply get shifted in color without any further changes - Black Knight. Silver Knight certainly makes the perfect counterpart to this card as White Knight is for Black Knight, though. On top of this, "Blood" is a prefix that makes it suit better as enemy of white than as enemy of blue. And even if they created that card (hopefully with a different name then) with Protection from Blue, they would have needed to create a blue counterpart then. Something like Heat Knight and Cold Knight maybe. (Copper Knight and Silver Knight won't work anymore regrettably, for obvious reasons.) I'm looking forward seeing these getting printed nontheless, considering that "Knight" is a creature type that already came with (and in my opinion also suits) every color. Possibly they refrained from printing a blue version because first strike isn't part of its color pie. Then again, Vodalian Knights is one of a few blue creatures with first strike...

Historically, Red deck wins has a poor match up against white weenie. This extremely efficient Red two-drop helps out against that match-up dramatically. And c'mon, it's just really cool too.

I can't help but agree... Protection from blue... Or green. You see plenty of protection from white and black, a little from red BUT just about none from blue or green...

awesome card, I would love a blue version for my UR EDH deck to complimnt this guy
maybe a cycle of knights like this, 2 for 2/2 FS with pro 1 enemy color, already have white set, black needs pro green, a rare pro color, red needs a pro blue, and blue and green both need a pair

definetly no, it should be protection from blue,
it goes like this BLACK VS WHITE
BLUE VS RED
GREEN VS ARTIFACTS
do a cycle of knights, please, we arleady have 2 but we want the hole cycle
White knight
Black knight
Raging or red Knigth (since they can't name it blood knight again (cant be 2 cards with the exact same name))
Blue knight
Green night
Platinum knight.
it would be a really nice cycle to complete, maybe in M11.

I think red needs pro white way more than pro blue. Pro blue just isn't that good, because it's still prone to countering, and still cant block flying. Pro-white however ignores all the reduced damage from red, prevention and stuff. This card gives Thunderblade Charge a good opening againt white decks.

Now we only need a Doomknight that has protection from white, black and red. Immune to most (if not all) removal (yeah except mass removal)

Maybe the better yet most subtle timeshifted of all. Only changed the enemy color to create a perfect tweak with great flavor text.

What? Timeshifted black knight? i would more think Silver Knight, sense most timeshifted cards are oposits.
@ Tobolococo: Platinum Knight would not work. Platinum basicly means 'you cant kill me', such as platinum angle or emporion. Mabey steel, but an artifact version of the night would have to cost more, cause {2} /= {W}{W}, {B}{B}, {G}{G}, or so on.

I just noticed something. Look at that helmet. It covers his eyes. He can't see where his going. Now look at his horse's helmet. It's covering its eyes too. How does this guy not constantly crash into trees and stuff? What the hell, right?

@fanconbean-presumably because of the fundamentally different approaches to the game of the two colors? consider Dark Ritual vs. Lightning Bolt. Red and Black can both give White a clock and a headache by dropping a Knight---but Red is more likely to say 'a 2/2 first striker for two mana? nice!' and Black is more likely to say: Swamp, Jet, Dark Rit, Dark Rit, Necro, Hymn, Hymn go. or something like that.

@bijart_dauth: I think two colorless mana for a 2/2 with first strike and protection from colorless is acceptable, and not overpowered compared to the rest of the knight cycle, since colorless cards usually are less common in decks that colored cards.

the opposite is true.
Soul warden and essense warden. Damnation and wrath of God. Harmonize and consentrate.
These are all examples of cards that do exactly the same as their off color counterpart. And, the colors they shift to mean nothing (white shifts to green with essense and shifts to black with damnation, allied and enemied colors respectively)
