I love this with Canopy Cover (to prevent bounce/targeted removal) and Boar Umbra. Lots of evasion right there. Pretty great even with just Canopy Cover actually. Consistent damage from turn 3 or 4 onward.
Cannot usually be blocked by deathtouchers either, which is fantastic.

This is a real game changer in sealed, one of the best commons. With all the walls, spawn, and high toughness low power creatures in the set, this guy can really swing through.

This card is just a beast I love it, I've always been a fan of enchantments, now we have cool umbra totem enchantments that save our creatures, and this tough brute to boot. Obviously, aura gnarlid and snake umbra are just amazing, but also consider celestial mantle, double your life every turn and it can't be blocked so you always get through. Eldrazi con***ion is fun too, making it nigh unblockable and being able to attack into your opponent without fear.
Even in aggro, a simple prey's vengeance and a hyena umbra on this card is brutal.

This is a very underrated card in this set. A beast in sealed with so many umbras. I run a type 2 deck with these guys and I frequently win in 4- 5 turns. Obviously anytime you can play a sovereigns of lost alara and with a con***ion and the gnarlid on the field its scooping time, but this guy can end a game before you can even cast sovereigns with a few umbras and a bit of mana excell. The fact he cant be chump blocked makes him ridiculous because he ramps up so fast that your opponent will rarely have a creature with equal power early in the game. Not to mention any exalted you might have. Opponents often overlook the fact that the gnarlid benefits from all auras on the battlefield. I believe this is the best card in eldrazi period. 5/5

I started drafting Roe not long ago, and ignored this hairy monster till i was on the receiving end of a 6+ power unblockable creature. No longer do i ignore this BOMB in limited, and he has helped me finish games turn 5/6 consistently. A must pick, even if its just to hate draft it. 4.9/5

Aura Gnarlid + Mammoth Umbra = 6/6 vigilance, unblockable by most creatures, has to be killed twice. The only way to make it better at that point is to give it a Hyena Umbra or a Snake Umbra, and then it's nigh unstoppable

I don't think this is meant to be enchanted by auras directly (unless we're talking about umbras or canopy cover, which offer protection). Just like yavimaya enchantress, this card is a stable beater that hits the table hard and fast (via Wild growth and utopia sprawl) without giving an obvious target for card disadvantage.
What can I say? Other than... HE'S A BEAST! OHHHHHHHH!! A word to noobs... just cause I didn't understand at first... It's not just cards that say aura on them... Auras are enchantments that can attach to a permanent... Land, artifacts, creatures, other enchantments (yes, there are enchant enchantment cards out there) anything that stays on the field and has an enchantment on it... so feel free to use things like mind control, annex, Animate artifact, steal enchantment

Yeah guys, uber pick in limited. I have a deck built around four of these guys and some serra angels, it works pretty well, you know doing 8 unblockable damage on turn four, nothin special. In fact, I wouldn't count this guy out in constructed. I'm (re)building a deck around him and he can be sooo fast with the right support, Birds of Paradise, canopy cover, boar umbras, get him to a really high power really quick, induce damage, fling him to do serious (lethal) damage. I used to play white with it but serra angels, whilst a really good beat stick, are too slow. Every spell is 3 or less, with the exception of bear umbra, which accels mana.

I love Aura Gnarlid. I've built three decks around the guy. Sangrite Backlash, a metric crap ton of Umbras, or my "Played It Once And Thought It was Too UnCool" combo of Unholy Strength and Phyresis

I LOVE this guy. I know it wasn't the optimum setup, but on turn 4, I had Him + Boar Umbra + Angelic Destiny + Lifelink. So on turn 4 I had a flying lifelink first strike totem armor basically unblockable 12/12 that can attack that turn. Problem Baneslayer?
Would this card be destroyed if you put a Dead Weight on it? Would it get +1/+1 before Dead Weight left the stack?

I've been getting great results running this guy in a deck which uses auras as mana acceleration, such as Wild Growth (I simply can't find Utopia Sprawl) and Overgrowth. More than once this has been a turn 2 4/4, without any auras enchanting him.
He isn't my favourite target for creature auras, since hexproof creatures are better than him in that aspect, but he runs well alongside them, but I don't mind playing something I wouldn't mind seeing on the graveyard on him (such as Dragon Fangs or Rancor.
The aura thing is mostly a small boost, its true power is in the first ability. Green has a lot of ways to pump him up, from Blanchwood Armor to Alpha Status (which incidentally give him an additional +1/+1 each), and then few things short of an Eldrazi can stand against him.

Kithkin Armor makes him unblockable, all by itself :-)
It can be backed up with Oblivion ring, journey to nowhere, crystalliztion for creature/permanent control; and Greater Auramancy for protection.
Dosan the Falling Leaf is like City of Solitude against control decks. He also ensures they never bolt your Verduran enchantress or Mesa Enchantresses. As mentioned before, Canopy Cover is a must, and maybe Shielding Plax for enchantress-less card draw.
