A 6/6 with trample for 6 is great without the landfall. It seems overpowered.

★★★★☆ (4.8/5.0)(9 votes)
It is not overpowered. But i also agree that Mythic Rares tend to get a unnecessarily high powerlevel nonetheless.
As mentioned before a 6/6 trampler for 6 mana is already useful by itself (although of course not worth the Mythic rare slot), yet such a card with an incredibly mana/power relation should not also get one of the most insane Landfall triggers you could think of - getting 4/4 fatties just by playing lands without being required to pay any mana or something similar seems ridiculously powerful. Other token generating cards will require mana for each token and do not have such a great body at the same time. Making the baloths 4/4 instead would still have easily kept this card being worth a Mythic rare, even without trample. Or they could also have been triple-costed - which should at least have been the case with Baneslayer Angel as well, in my opinion.

I like how they're bringing back 4/4 beasts, like in Beast Attack. (Versus the 3/3 beasts Garruk makes.
I think they're trying to ensure beasts as the powerhouse of green, especially with Terra Stomper. (Versus angels, krakens, demons and dragons) But you can never be sure.

I was actually a little disappointed in this card when I actually tried it out in a landfall deck. I had this and Baloth Woodcrasher. When I get to 6 mana available and have both cards in my hand, it just seems that the Woodcrasher is the card I want to play. A landfall deck can make Woodcrasher 12/12 trample or bigger for the finish when it attacks the next turn. Rampaging Baloths will just be attacking as a 6/6 trample. Sure, I get to make a bunch of beasts, but it just feels like it kills some of the tempo.
I guess it's just how my particular landfall deck works. If I had designed my deck a little differently perhaps I can take better advantage of Rampaging Baloths.

A nice card, and its ability care how many lands you get a turn, 1 or 10, you get a beast, or you get a couple beasts, where as, if you use your land fetches earlier, to help you get this out early, its ability is still useful, where as most landfalls need multiple lands to be devistating, woodcrasher is an 8/8 trampler with 1 land, a 12/12 with 2, a rampaging baloth is a 6/6 trampler with no lands, a 6/6 trampler with a 4/4 buddy (total 10/10) with 1 land, and he is a 6/6 trampler with 2 4/4 buddies (14/14 total) with 2 lands
a solid 6/6 with free 4/4 if you play lands, there may be better ones for an exclusive landfall deck, one that after the 6th land is down, the deck is still trying to drop 2 or 3 more lands a turn, but this guy is good in any green deck, and nice in a landfall

I <3 this card, yay green, I get an awesome creature who can make 4/4 tokens for me. I'm a fan of token swarm creation, and big creatures, and the baloth has both! Add in a beastmasters ascension, and you got yourself some new scary 9/9 baloth tokens.
The major downside of this card is actually the inherent way landfall works, in that you aren't always likely to draw a land every turn, so it's very inconsistent. Some games you will play your rampaging baloths and get no lands for 4 turns afterwards. It's true you can play with cards like khalni heart expedition, or rampant growth, but then your replacing other cards to make that happen. It's definitely worth the gamble however if you can follow up by enchanting one of the tokens or equipping it, or garruk wildspeakers ultimate over run ability.

The main reason they couldn't make the creatures 6/6's with trample is the flavor text would have to be "Me me me." "Me too."-Agent Smith to Agent Smith and everyone knows that mixing the awesome of The Matrix with Magic would make everyone go EXPLODE!
The card is very good on its own a 6/6 with trample for six is a problem for me to handle at times, and it leaves 4/4's around after I kill it >< a powerful card, although I don't believe it deserves mythic rare, it feels very averageish you know? With my Eldrazi/Beast deck (built with mainly 2010, and Zendikar Block cards), this creature is amazing. I can heat out 6 lands in no time flat, since I need them for other things anyway, and I'm still cranking out lands until the end. If you combo this with Green's ability to place lands, you have an army.
This does happen to be the same color that Howl of the Nightpack and Ant Queen are. Token spam decks of this color are just too simple, but also fun.
@Lestat13
Landfall wouldn't be considered if it weren't for this? I surely hope you don't mean to imply that landfall is in some way a useless effect. f*cking mythics are ruining magic.
T1: forest, arbor elf (2 mana total) T2: forest, arbor elf x2 (4 mana total) T3: forest, garruk, first ability to untap your forests and leave you with 3 mana, plus 3 arbor elves for a 6 mana, which is enough to drop rampaging baloths (8(!) mana total) T4: Now here's the depressing part- terramorphic expanse (get a 4/4), crack it for a forest (and another 4/4), then play harrow (how about two this time?). That's more than enough for this turn, so pass to your opponent. (you have a disgusting amount of effective mana between the arbor elves and garruks' first ability, so I'm not even counting any more) T5: swing for 22, 2nd main phase another terramorphic expanse and crack it for another forest and 2 more tokens for some defense (in the unlikely event there is a 2nd main phase)
You should not be able to win with a creature with less than 8 toughness before you can normally hardcast it. But these kids these days... They are just too impatient! They want to win by turn 6, even in casual, so they can go fart around on facebook and poke eachother.

allmighty_albacus: Your calculations are way wrong. On turn three, with three Arbor elves and three lands you can cast the Baloths, but not with Garruk. Also, since you used your land drop that turn, your opponent will most likely have the answer before your next turn (when you actually put tokens). Why so sure? Because you've only been casting Arbor Elves.
