this card gets half a point for fun value and half a point for repeatability / card advantage. A good card to discard with your sorting effects because it costs so darn much. problem is it costs so much, and by the time you have 6 to use copying something already in play just isn't going to get you ahead very often. Casual only, but fun in casual for sure.

I Like it just for the god-combo of Doubling Season and Murkfiend Liege, but as a hybrid it gets boosted with better Green lieges like Creekwood. I give it a 4/5 fun card.

cost wise, this is better then clone, this costs the same, but can be played from your graveyard

only way I've seen this being used effectively is with ink-treader nephilim, though that combo alone is enough for me, 4/5

I think the point is not, is this card clone, the point is its a clone card that can be played with only green. If you're playing a red/green deck with a lot of big power creatures that have haste, you can instant copy something large and attack your opponent with it on the same turn like say a demigod of revenge. Also doesn't hurt to copy your opponents creatures like their iona/akroma, and others. Could also have fun with it and anything that has an affect when it re-enters play, like acidic slime, just re-trace when you have the mana and destroy all your opponents lands.

No one has mentioned the flavor text? It might be the best I've ever read!

I'm not understanding where all the hate for this card is coming from. 6 mana is a lot, but it's replayable. Unlike Followed Footsteps, this spell can't be targetted by removal spells. Additionally, using this on lieges, warchiefs, Primalcrux, or any creature with cumulative abilities, it's amazing.

Fun in EDH / Commander, though Rite of Replication blows this card out of the water if you have lots of mana and enjoy copying creatures all over the place.

This is a fun card imo. I got one in a Sealed and won a game by just retracing it on a Windbrisk Raptor a few times. XD Useful in limited if you play a slower control deck that allows you to get to enough mana and lets you make good use of the late game lands, but I don't see it of very much use in Constructed.

The real benefits of this card are the colors. It's a green clone!
Plus in longer formats - EDH, THG, casual multiplayer Star - this card becomes friggen sweet! Imagine Life from the Loam + this. So fun!

This card generates stories by itself. It's a good Johnny card, a good Timmy card and the hybrid mana + retrace make it highly playable. Big fan of it.

HOW?!......OF ALL THINGS.....HOW IN THE WORLD DID THE COMMANDER DESIGN TEAM CONSTRUCT A DECK WITH A LEGEND THAT COPIES CREATURES AND SPELLS AND NOT INCLUDE THIS?!

When I played this card, I had myself convinced by "discard" it meant sacrifice. My friends didn't even notice it either. Then one day I noticed it and said oh sh**! Still an incredibly powerful card anyways. Just put some cultivates and caravan vigils into your deck with this and you'll do great!

This card is absolutely nuts in Riku EDH.

8 mana, discard a land: get 2 copies of something.
Just make sure the first creature you copy is something like Civic Wayfinder to grab lands for retrace.

I've had way too many people tell me that in a Green/Blue deck I should run cackling counterpart instead. Guys, look closely at retrace. It doesn't exile the card when you cast it again. You can use this as many times as you want. You just need a few land in your hand.
Take that, flashback!

I have this card in an EDH deck, but I've thought about taking it out. Spitting image can exploit the legends rule to kill people's commander. That's fine, but the fact that it can do it repeatedly? That's pretty mean. I haven't used it that way, but the fact that spitting image can do that makes me a wee bit uncomfortable about it. Other than that, its super.

So for 6 mana and a land, I can get another Consecrated Sphinx?

Where do I sign up?

This card fits blue, but a hybrid card needs to fit both colors to make sense. I think this was a flavor mistake. That said, I don't play blue and I am totally stoked to have access to such a wonderful effect.

I like it because I am pleased to draw a spell or a land after it is in the graveyard. And because if this ends up in my graveyard due to Slate of Ancestry, or Call of the Wild I haven't really lost anything.

My favorite use is to target Capricious Efreet. That is a card that benefits from as many copies as possible, since you target your weakest permanent will all of the efreets, and as soon as it dies, the rest stop looking at your side of the board.
Also, this is repeatable legend kill, which is always nice.
Precursor Golem, Charmbreaker Devil and Creakwood Liege are also fun targets.

Why hasn't anyone commented on the hilarious flavor of this card? And why is my mirror covered in spit streaks?

Sadly, can't be played in a green deck without blue in EDH. Oh, hybrid rule, why do you mock me so?

This card totally breaks the (new) populate mechanic... With this, you can Populate to make copies of ANYTHING! Army of Autochthons? Check. Legion of Lieges? Check. And if all else fails, copy the other guy's biggest baddie, then Populate, Populate, Populate...

If you're running blue, strictly worse than Rite of Replication.

For those of you wondering how this fits as a green card...Simple. Token creation. REPEATABLE token creation. As the populate mechanic evinces, this seems to be considered a hallmark of green these days.

This is one of my favourite Commander cards. I run it in The Mimeoplasm with about 45 lands and Life from the Loam, so it repeatedly poops Sphinx of Uthuun and Sylvan Primordial tokens (which as often as not come from a Plasm in disguise), removes opposing generals, then all the lands Spit pitched to the graveyard feed a gigantic Worm Harvest. Mwahahahaha.
And to those comparing it to Rite of Replication: a countered or dredged Rite will just sit uselessly in your graveyard. Ponder that.

Fantastic in my Biovisionary Deck - Makes picking up land late-game a help not a hindrance! Not the main way to get to the win condition, but a few times has been the sole reason I've won games.

This becomes good later on in the game when you have a way of generating lands.

Copy a Borderland Ranger? But still kind of lame for being a 2/2 bear engine for 6 mana a turn.

The flavor text sounds incredibly silly to me. Are magical impostors so common on Lorwyn that you need a customary greeting when you meet yours? "Hey, you know I ran into myself again earlier today. We split together, same as always."

So. Much. Fun. This card is just a blast to play.
