I'd imagine that we'll be seeing a whole lot of this opening in every standard white weenie deck from now on.

Gilded garbage. What good equipment would you want in your deck in Standard right now?

Bonesaw, Explorer's Scope, both of which you're probably only running because of the Kor and their Equip affinity. Mage Slayer would be good if it was in color, but it's not.
Right now the Kor is running sup par cards hoping the strong synergy will be enough to win the day, let's just hope in Worldwake there's a good blade.

Whilst it certainly seems like a very weak creature to put this on, I'm considering having some of these, some Whispersilk Cloaks and some Celestial Mantles in a bant lifegaining deck. If you can protect the duelist and his buffs with blue's counters, he'll make an unblockable double strike assault against the opponent. With celestial mantle, he'd deal 8 damage (4 in each strike), as well as quadrupling your health (double for the first hit, then double again for the second).
If you manage to get a Finest Hour out before you attack, you'll deal potentially lethal damage across both combat phases (5+5 in the first, then 6+6 in the second for a total of 22), as well as multiplying your initial health total by 16 (let's say for example that you've taken 15 damage trying to 'hang on' long enough to get this combo out - you'd still end up with a huge 80 health. Even if you're only on 2 health you'd still end up with more health than you started the game with).
Of course, it's a very specific combo so the odds of pulling it off aren't all that great - but having said that, given that this card only costs W, and the Quest for the Holy Relic card card could potentially be used to equip it (having said that having to get 5 creatures out yourself could be a steep price), it's still very doable.
All in all, it's worthy of uncommon status - a cheap 1/1 creature that has a very strong boost.

Seems like a harmless place for 'double strike;' conditional effect on a 1/1. And yet I was slaughtered by him in limited. A 1-mana uncommon shouldn't be "removal or death" in limited. Double strike is just uncool because it's overpowered in limited and crap in constructed. Warren Instigator is probably the only playable double striker. Anyway, strong pick in limited, the presence of Adventuring Gear and Trusty Scimitar make it an easy build-around using cards you'd use anyway if you've got them.

This guy is an absolute beast! Turn one plains, Kor Duelist. Turn two Adventuring Gear, land, equip swing for two. Turn three forest, Harrow, get what lands you want, Rampant Growth swing for 18, and the win if they can't block.(You could replace Rampant Growth with a zendy fetch land). BAM! faster than Doran, the Siege Tower, Rafiq the Many, and Noble Hierarch!

I just got this card and I'm not quite sure what they mean by "As long as Kor Duelist is equipped" Does equipped in this case mean just on the battlefield and not tapped?

Amazing card. GW soldiers wants this guy as a 4 of. Even if you can't get the gear and harrow/fetch/rampant growth, there's always the Armadillo Hammer.

@canonshooter: Equipped means he is equipped with equipment. Equipped. that means you play an equipment, then paid the cost to equip the creature with equipment. equipped.

Generally, Loxodon Warhammer is pretty much perfect for him, but any equipment works just fine because what you REALLY want is Double Strike. Having an Armament Master equipped with multitude of cheap, and most worthless equipment will give you your power/toughness...
Another wonderful choice is Blade of the Bloodchief. Cheap, and relatively powerful.

Sorry people but, didn't ANYONE even think of Quiet Spike?? if you have a Quest for the holy relic and five counters on it, your opponent can be punished for up to 15 damage if he didn't block this card!!
Baslisk Collar: play, equip, Lifelink + deathtouch Behemoth sledge: play, equip, +2/+2 lifelink + trample Shield of the Righteous: play, equip, +0/+2 vigilance, blocked creature stays tapped Trusty Machette: play, equip, +2/+1 Blade of the Bloodchief: play, equip, +1/+1 counter whenever something dies Explore's Scope: play, equip, look at top card, play if it is a land
tell me these equipments are not good?
blade + collar means he is a 2/2 at the end if he was blocked and you are up 3 life and it scales exponetionally sledge + shield, 3/5 DS, lifelink, trampler with vigilance that is a good blocker
This card wins me games. In my Kor equipment deck, I once drew him, two plains, a Bone Saw, and a Trusty Machete. I dealt 22 damage in four turns. Yes, it's sort of combo-ey, but it's still 22 damage in four turns, and in my Kor deck I have four of both of the equipments and I would have four Kor Duelist, if only I had the fourth one. In a Kor equipment deck, or really any deck that runs enough equipment (which there's a lot of in Zendikar/Worldwake), he's practically a must. In most equipment decks, you will be hitting for at least four by turn two, when most decks just aren't, well, equipped to handle it.
Oh, and for those who play extended: Neurok Hoversail or, perhaps even better, Shuko.

Be nice, MarioKartMan.
@CannonShooter: I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but in case anyone else is confused, equipment cards are cards like Loxodon Warhammer, Bonesplitter, or Whispersilk Cloak. They are almost always colorless artifacts, and you can put them onto the field like normal artifacts. After you play them, however, they have no effect until you pay the equip cost (as a sorcery) and attach it to a one of your creatures.
Once you attach the equipment to one of your creatures, that creature is 'equipped', and it gains all the abilities written on the equipment. Whenever you can play a sorcery, you can pay the equip cost again to move the equipment to another creature. You can't unattach an equipment, except by paying the cost and moving it to another creature. When the creature dies, the equipment stays on the battlefield. You can then pay the equip cost again to attach it to another creature.

Ogre's Cleaver would be funny, even if not the most practical. Of course, anything that gives trample would be the best way to go.
Trusty Machete is pretty devastating with this guy, for certain. With a little mana ramp, that can be a turn 2 swing for 6. Yikes.
Very flexible card, made all the more dangerous by the fact that it is both A) really cheap to cast and B) a Soldier.

Most of you guys are getting way too happy seeing Double Strike, few of you have recommended any useful equipments-Lifelink equipments to a double striker is a smart idea.
Basically the best 3 Equipments for this guy are Loxodon Warhammer, Sword of Vengeance, and Umezawa's Jitte.

RuthieA is right, most decks are not prepared for this guy. I consistently have him swinging on turn 2 with a Bonesplitter as a 3/1 double strike, and most of the time it's before my opponent has a blocker if I went first. when this happens, turn 3 or 4 wins are likely.

saying something like the Hammer of WIn, his brother, or sword of vengeance is good for this is wrong. all of those take forever to get out and grant little useful benefit to this guy when he needs the stuff
Had a nice little opening hand once that enabled Turn 1 - Duelist Turn 2 - Ogre's Cleaver Turn 3 - Kor Outfitter, equip Cleaver to Duelist, swing for 12 damage on turn 3.
Quite nice.

I have this in my equipment deck and is one of my main wins.
turn 1: Ancient Den and Kor Duelist turn 2: Bonesplitter and another Ancient Den or Darksteel Citadel swing for 6 make sure it lives or can live
turn 3: O-Naginata swing for 12 trample one of the above lands or plains
turn 4: Puresteel Palidan and Cranial Plating draw a card, equip for free and swing for 18 - 26 if ur lucky and play all artifact lands... ... can you say ouch?
you can play the puresteel 3rd turn for O-naginata to draw if u play with artifact lands sooner

In my Kor Equipment deck this guy is front and center. My favorite equipment for him is the Quietus Spike. If he gets through unblocked (due to luck, protection, or a Whispersilk Cloak) You can take an opponent from 20 life to 4 life in one attack. Not to mention the Double Strike/Deathtouch combo is awesome.

Even without mana acceleration this guy is a 3/2 double strike attacking on third turn with Trusty Machete. Any equipment works, but if you want to pop 'em in the mouth early, do this.

AMAZING with the Sword of ____ series or the jitte since it deals combat damage twice and you get to double up on the trigger. Even with just a simple Piston Sledge or his Trusty Machete he's ready to start cracking skulls. The duelist was the engine behind my first fully original deck and I'm going to love this guy forever.
