This is a great card to beat the kind of player your deck should be able to beat anyhow. Seriously, I like it!

I have a casual deck pairing this with Swords to Plowshares and Invigorate. Good times!

Invigorate is certainly useful with this card. Skyshroud Cutter might also be if you need a "free" 2/2 body.
when adding white to the deck you can choose Swords to Plowshares or Condemn for removal. Wall of Shards also does a good job and will over time make your kavus huge, which will be able to equalize the lifegain.
in case you want a black splash for the deck or even replace the Kavu, you could consider using False Cure insread.
btw, Roiling Horror or Ageless Entity could be considered as some sort of counterpart to this card, dependant on aspect - either the way you should play for profit or the card's effect.

Great synergy with the mentioned cards.. but at the very least, it's a Grizzly Bear WITH TRAMPLE!!

I added Soul Fires , Commune with Nature, Elvish Spirit Guides, Simian Spirit Guides, and Lightning Greaves to my Kavu Preditor deck.In conjunction with the cards Reverent Silence, Skyshroud Cutter, Invigorate, and Grove of the Burnwillows in a five person Free For All match its potentially a turn one Double KO. I also have Talara's Batallion in mine because usually the green spell is an alternate casting cost one.

That's not a fair card. I agree with Coufu. At the very least it's a grizzly bear with trample. And Kavu's are more tribal than bears. (Kavu Mauler) But splash in white and throw in a Wall of Shards and you have a scary combo!!
or maybe turn3 protect it with a Canopy Cover or Shielding Plax first then turn4 you double Rest for the Weary your opponent, sure you just did 2 total damage but you got an 18/18 trampler next turn who's immune to most removal
That Ajani's Mantra you played a turn ago is starting to look like a really bad idea now...

I agree very OP, I mean almost every player I play against runs life gain nowadays
Ha, so its a 2/2 trample against most decks, very OP

First, get together four friends (or even more) to play with. T1: Forest, Llanowar Elves. T2: Forest, Kavu Predator, then hopefully another Llanowar for good measure. T3: Forest, then Hunters' Feast, making everyone gain six life. Pick a friend at random and crush them with your 26/26 Kavu while everyone gawks in disbelief. Make sure to pack a few Vines of Vastwood and Hunter's Guile. Continue to deal just enough damage to finish your opponents off, one at a time.
Congratulations! Now it's time to find some new friends.

You can make a super aggressive deck out of this guy.
Here's my decklist.
4 Kavu Predator 4 Rest for the Weary Target yourself to stall or opponent to feed the Kavu 4 Reverent Silence Careful with this one, as it can hurt you unless you've got a vines of Vastwood to keep your kavu untargetable 4 Nature's Claim Problem solver. 4 Skyshroud Cutter Bodies and fuel for the Kavu. 4 Invigorate Agressive with the Kavu, or Surprise defensive on a Cutter, both are good. 4 Vines of Vastwood Protection for the main swinger. 2 Canopy Cover Better than mongoose most of the time, but gets hurt by Reverent Silence. 2 Aspect of Mongoose Reverent Silence doesn't hurt this one as much. 4 Swords to Plowshares More problem Solving. 4 Green Sun's Zenith 3 mana to deck-to-play a Kavu. Excellent.
13 Forest 7 Plains
Feel free to nonbasic that mana base up however you like, I try to keep it simple. Don't field a Kavu unless you've got backup for it, but if you do, get it out and get it going. Takes one turn to knock their life total down from where you put it feeding the Kavu, and one more for the win. Simple, Cheap, and Agressive. Hilariously powerful in Multiplayer. That Kavu gets big fast.

Love the artwork, as well as the card, as well as the creature type. 5/5, my favorite card so far even though I know it's not the best.
KAVU PREDATOR 1) Efficient Body, Low Colorweight 2) Grows When Opponent's Life Swings Up 3) Easily Blocked, Unchumpable 4) Combos Off of Your Cards 5) White/Black Bane 6) Seems Bad, Turns Out to Be Great 7) Solid in Any Deck that Can Cast It 8) Discourages Defensive Strategies 9) 2 Power and 2 Toughness
RETALIATOR GRIFFIN 1) Ineffecient Body, High Colorweight 2) Grows When Your Life Swings Down 3) Hard to Block, Chumptastic 4) Combos Off of Their Cards 5) Seems Great, Turns Out to be Bad 6) Only Good in Specially Tuned Decks 7) Discourages Offensive Strategies 8) 2 Toughness and 2 Power

Wall of Shards also does a good job and will over time make your kavus huge, which will be able to equalize the lifegain.
Reverent Silence or Seeds of Innocence can be used for the sideboard to destroy all enchantments or artifacts.
Roar of Jukai and Fiery Justice also synergize, yet they are less useful, as the first one requires use of arcane spells, the latter red mana - which could be drawn from Grove of the Burnwillows.
in case you want a black splash for the deck or even replace the Kavu, you could consider using False Cure insread.

then turn3, Rest for the Weary
or maybe turn3 protect it with a Canopy Cover or Shielding Plax first then turn4 you double Rest for the Weary your opponent, sure you just did 2 total damage but you got an 18/18 trampler next turn who's immune to most removal
I think costs of 2G would not have ruined the card.
