I wanted to run this along with Isochron Scepter (imprinted with False Cure) to hilariously heal->burn my opponent for more and more damage each turn, but then I realized I wouldn't be able to get the spell off before paying the life-gaining upkeep upkeep T__T
This card would go really great with Rain of Gore.

"At the beginning of upkeep" triggered abilities go on the stack before you have a chance to cast or activate anything every turn. So while you can cast flash spells, instants, and activate abilities during the upkeep step, the soonest they could go on the stack is on top of any "at the beginning of upkeep" triggered abilities. So you'd force the life-gain trigger on your opponent, then before that resolves, activate Isochron Scepter, let it's ability resolve giving you the chance to play the False Cure copy, play the False Cure copy on top of the life-gain trigger, then let False Cure and the life-gain trigger resolve in that order. Your opponent is now losing twice the life they gain. So yes it would work.

The perfect blocker to any deck that wins other than with damage, like mill decks for instance.

@pieman: No, that would work. You get priority at some time between untap and upkeep, and the stick works at intstant speed, So Yeah.
@ttian: ...this is nothing like Wall of Reverence. Clearly you aren't reading it right.
@Alqatrkapa: Unfortunately, it doesn't combo with Rain of Gore. Rain of Gore is only triggered if something causes its controller to gain life.

Still cant kill the storm crow. Block maybe, but who would dare.
in my white deck making my apponit gain a little life in not a problem once it gets going it is unstopible but it dose not do so great in the beginning so I like this card.

Combine with Wall of Denial to make your opponent realize he won't be able to kill you with his normal creatures~
Just be careful when using this against an opponent using life as a win condition.

Mwahahaha! This is totally perfect for my mono white wall/gain-life deck that combos with a playset of felidir soverign as a win condition. Two drop wall i give protection from chose color with flickering light for 1 additional mana, and i can even bounce that enchantment from my weeny wall right onto felidir after I play it when i have 40 or more life to win the game on my upkeep. Thanks Magic!!!
This did wonders for UW control as an anti aggro card back in coldsnap, but I'd rather wait one turn for a wall of denial these days.

This can be very good in decks, that don't care about opponent life total. Milling? Poison? "You win the game"-spells? Sorin Markovs secon ability, then killing your opponent?

The drawback is meaningless alongside Test of Endurance or in a milling deck.

Easiest way to play with this is to put it in a combo deck. Johny ftw.
and now infect introduces another way to kill your opponent without caring about their life total...
too bad about the color though.

Would Barren Glory let you sac the wall and THEN have no permanents?

I don't think Rain of Gore would work. RoG says "If a spell or ability would cause ITS CONTROLLER to gain life, that player loses that much life instead." You're the one controlling the wall and therefore its ability, so your card providing lifegain to an opponent wouldn't be affected.

I like to use this in my lifegain/lifeloss deck...sanguine bond, Tainted Sigil, Children of Korlis, Wall of Shards, Bond of Agony, Ad Nauseum, Norn's Annex and such. Works surprisingly well (in multiplayer anyway)...especially when I choose to keep my wall of shards in turns following sanguine bond's entrance ;)

You could pair it with Eon Hub to get round its upkeep drawback, but going that far for a wall seems a bit OTT. Strong wall though, I would aslo put it in mill like Kirbster indicates.

I will mention, as it seems the wording has perplexed us, This does not work with Rain of Gore, but pairs with Inkmoth Nexus.

Eon Hub would help but then again it's pretty expensive and pretty much defeats the cheap cost of this card.
Better in infect/mill decks.

Because everyone knew walls were a broken strategy... and needed crippling downsides.
Not particularly useful, but most people don't expect to have a wall hitting them harder than most Eldrazi on the third turn.

@DoctorGii: I try not to poke holes in other people's fun, but I'm missing something. Firstly, how are you casting a 2G spell T1? And secondly, while Doran, the Siege Tower would undoubtedly turn this thing into something nasty, I don't think you've read the card correctly. Look up the keyword "Defender" as it applies to MTG.

Turn 2: Wall of Shards
Turn 3: Doran, The Siege Tower, Iron Will, swing for 12 damage
Not particularly useful, but most people don't expect to have a wall hitting them harder than most Eldrazi on the third turn.
T1: Forest, suspend SFT
T2: Plains, Wall of Shards
T3: Swamp, Doran.
Really, SFT is entirely external to the combo.
Aside from that, I really want to put this and Transcendence in a Zedruu deck.
