I feel there is something here, but I can't see it.

In a UR control deck it COULD have it's uses. Have a creature with an absurd mana cost in play, play this, tap all the other lands you got, and Banefire ftw.
Looks like it might have some serious synergy with the Eldrazi. They're all really expensive and colorless. Get at least one into play, take Ulamog's Crusher, for instance. Tap him down with this and get , practically for free. Use that as a considerable launching pad into another huge Eldrazi threat.

The best thing I could think of for this is combine with Boomerang and Emrakul: Hardcast Emrakul, the use energy tap and boomerang to pop 15 more mana into your mana pool, bounce Emrakul, play him again, and take two extra turns after this one.
this is pretty dam cool, you can play something big like lorthos or mycosynth golem, or the aldrazi, then for one mana tap it (it has summoning sickness anyway) and get back all its mana (-1 for the spell) hmmmmmmmmmmm storm anyone? you could build up such a huge combo with this puppy

Katakylzmik, it's cute how you think you can target Emrakul, a.k.a. mister pro-colored spells, with a Boomerang. Or with an Energy Tap.

If you hardcast emrakul you din't need another turn, you should be winning with him anyway.

Obiously non of you young 'uns have been around to play this with Draco, Torrent of Fire, and Fireball. Draco is easy third turn with Prismatic Omen and green mana ramp. Pow.
I think this is really cool, can be an uber dark ritual

this works well with rite of replication in my dragon deck. Like using it on my kilnmouth dragon, then paying two more blue for rite of replication, and then if i have it two more blue to copy it twice with echo mage. 5 blue mana for 16 kilnmouth's.

If just this would produce blue mana or mana of the creature's color instead, it would be so awesome.
Anyways, this is still a pretty decent mana accel with creatures that can be cast for free or with an alternate cost, like Skyshroud Cutter, Vine Dryad or Allosaurus Rider. or on turn one doesn't sound too shabby. Too bad Ulamog's Crusher costs 8 mana :P Just hope that the spell you're going to cast for that won't get countered, otherwise your hand is pretty much empty and you're left with almost nothing :D
I have a silly casual deck with this card and Spire Golem. (I'm surprised no one's mentioned him yet.) It functions sort of like a bad control deck with a Treasure Mage toolbox, but occasionally it does silly things like resolving a turn-4 Sundering Titan with Remand backup.

Using CREATURES to get MANA? What color is this, you think? BLUE? OF COURSE!!!
Yeah, they really need to do a reprint of this in green. Makes so much more sense.

Best used on the typical {3}-{4} cost creatures for a pseudo-dark ritual and put out a combo piece, possibly while having counter-mana open.
Don't think of this as ramp, think of this as counterspell mana that you save in your turn instead, if that makes sense. When you need that Fallowsage t4, but you also need to protect him, use this! That two mana open saves your dudes!
Still, I'd have preferred an instant so I could use it on Evoke creatures or to get surprise mana in the opponent's turn.

Play Egotist face down. Flip him over. Next turn, Energy Tap for 8.

If you were to tap the creature as part of the cost or at resolution instead of having to choose the target, this card would have been broken.
With ramp and affinity, you can cheat Omniscience onto the battlefield at turn 3 (perhaps even earlier), which usually wins you the game. My deck uses this as an alternate win condition, but the main one typically revolves around a Myr Enforcer or a Spire Golem being tapped with this, and then proceeding to cast a Time Warp along with a Rush of Knowledge. With a proper deckbuild, more often than not this allows you to draw into the same combo again and again, and if you have a single Elixir of Immortality in the deck, you could easily rotate the combo infinitely and kill an infinite number of players.
My play group knows that the only way they could prevent this is to either counter it or to kill the target. But that's what Force of Will or Misdirection are for. I'm surprised no one used this competitively yet.
Lord Egotist and other combos are nice, but only as trivialities no one is going to use anyway. This is a powerful card with affinity, perhaps even suspend, and I recommend you to try it. It won't disappoint you.

Get thru with Daxos of Meletis(Double strike would be nice) while Rasputin is out, Cloudshift him, Energy Tap Rasputin, and cast w/e.
