At worst, it's an Ur-Golem's Eye. You can, however, pump it up if you have the mana, helping out your later turns. It isn't amazing, and probably won't see much play, but it could used with Omnath and Doubling Cube for hilarity.

You could always use this with the Cloudpost + Vesuva combo.
It's a decent mana accel by itself: It enters untapped and provides half the mana spend to cast it.
Put it in the right deck and it's also worth casting without kicker, where it can even do more than just help affinity. It turns a Coretapper into a cúmulative mana accelerator, it can be tutored with Trinket Mage, and it can even become cheaper with Etherium Sculptor! Fun fact: Would you ever have imagined to reduce the cost of a -mana artifact? I guess not :D
I'm gonna say it; My favorite not completely overpowered mana artifact ever.

What an awful card. Turn two it's a Mind Stone that doesn't let you draw. Turn four it's a Sol Ring for 4. Turn six, you shouldn't need any more mana. Terrible.

I found it useful during the sealed game at the prerelease. Getting that little extra to play my Admonition Angel helped.

it's kinda embarrassing for those people who think this one sucks...it gets 4 out of 5 for me because you know what? Imagine how it works in groups...
w/o mana acceleration it'll play like this: turn 2 you play one for 1xKicker then turn 3 you use your 3 lands and your other everflowing chalice to play another with 2xkicker (then you can use that one to play another one for 1xkicker), even without the 3rd chalice, turn 4 you have 6 mana, if you can play another land. If in the case that you played the 3rd chalice and have another land, you can summon something in the likes of Terastodon at TURN 4, see that wasn't so bad was it?

Using this in a white weenie deck seems kinda nice. Bring it in early, use it for a little bit of mana, then bounce it back to your hand when you bring a Kor Skyfisher into play.
Bring it back in with all the nice new land you have, make it generate more mana, and bring out someone like Iona a few turns earlier than usual.
Not an amazing card, but it's really not too shabby.
@sethddickness: Yes, Etherium Sculptor reduces its cost by one, assuming you pay the multikicker. One quick look at the rulings for Etherium Sculptor would tell you that: This effect doesn't change the mana cost or converted mana cost of an artifact spell. Rather, it reduces the total cost of the spell, which is the amount you actually pay while casting it. The total cost takes into account additional or alternative costs. Kicker is an additional cost that is added to the total cost, which Etherium Sculptor reduces by 1.

Good for any Alara deck, period. Helps summon fatties easily, potentially game ending combo when used with Flameblast Dragon

Pretty much mana accelerating for any color. It has a lot of utility and is certainly underrated.

I suppose you can't kick this one by providing one of the mana needed by tapping it instantly when it comes into play?
Like on first turn: one land, tap for mana (halv the kick-cost) and Everflowing Chalice tapped for the last colorless mana to provide it's own kick. So you get Chalice into play on your first turn :)
Logically the spell must resolve into an artifact before you can use it, but the stack works in mysterious ways

I love this card! Particularly in an extended deck that uses a Tron-like build with Comet Storm! The mana that the Urza lands used to charge up the Chalices can produce enough mana that could cast a potentially lethal Comet Storm....for multiple opponents even!

i can just imagine R&D cackling when they designed this card... "They THINK it is just another multikicker card, when LITTLE do they know but this card will power out monstrosities that the game has never known in ANY color Bwah ha ha bwah ha ha ha ha!"
I am of course referring to the Eldrazi.

It's a great card (except in green I think they are fine) I think I would be better to produce colored mana like T: Add any one color to your mana pool a land you control could produce. The colorless with be great in eldrazi and I could see it with blue Mirrodin artifacts to speed them up especially with four Etherium Sculptors. Some colors and decks I think its more four, green and mono color heavy decks are better with something else, so I'm putting it at 3.5

Good card, bad design.
Complete waste of the multikicker ability.
Just make the cost = XX.
Problem solved.
You can still cast it for zero, it still comes in with the same number of counters. And you save more room on the card for flavour text.
Also, its perfect for splashing in another colour without having dual lands or 2 or more basic land types.

Still the best standard legal mana ramp for blue imo.
Tap it for it's mana and Aether Tradewinds it, bounce something of your opponents, and replay it with that mana and whatever else you can add.
all those free ways of boosting our little chalice can really pump out the mana until you have a permanent that needs the counters more. on it's own? meh... seems like it has to have synergy with other cards to be useful. 4 stars, mainly because it costs 0.

@ psyklone: There ARE cards where multikicker matters, they may not be that great but, rumbling aftershocks DOES give you a benefit from kicking this a bit.

@psyklone: You said "problem solved" but I don't see any problem with the way the card functions now. You've supplied a text that is functionally identical to the card as it is now, except doesn't use one of the block's keywords and is (IMO) less elegant. I certainly don't like to see "XX" costs; I think they look weird on the card. Anyway, how is this a waste of the multikicker ability? Is there some arbitrary limit of how many cards can have it? Plus, others have mentioned that there are actually cards that interact with kicked spells.

Question:
Can Grand Architect from SoM make the chalice even cheaper with his "tap untapped blue creature you control: Add 2 colorless mana to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to cast artifacts or activate abilities of artifacts."- ability?
I don't understand if the multikicker counts as a casting cost.

Just go watch one of the videos of Standard top matches. Whenver it's control vs control, you'll see both players dying to try to resolve a Chalice first. Getting ahead on mana could mean everything, especially in a format where it's hard to catch up from behind because everyone plays 4 Tectonic Edge. (which by the way, is the card played even more than Jace but people still compare it to Wasteland all day long.)

Now I want a card that says "Players can't kick spells." :P
People that diss this card obviously don't know how to play it. There's a reason Sol Ring is restricted people.
I played against a mono-red deck with this card... second turn cast this, third turn Volt Charge and maybe even follow it up with a Lightning Bolt. Or just play Koth. Koth works, too... but anyways you have to keep in mind proliferating this thing even one time makes it a 2 mana artifact that taps for 2 mana. If that isn't good I don't know what is.

Have you tried using it before? In every way it could be used in constructed? I'm pretty sure a use can be found for every card...
