this is THE most powerful card ever conceived. it's power and prowess are stunning. it's the main card in the gleemax combo, allowing you to use the legendary 1,000,000 cost artifact. 15 mana is easilly worth the cost of unlimited mana

but its unhinged. anyway aggravated assault and gemhide sliver + 5 other slivers is infinite mana anyway.

I really want to naturalize one of these while my opponent has the infinite mana so they take infinity damage.

With M2010, this won't be possible.:(

A crossover between Mox and Lotus in Magic?
Yeah, that should pretty much provide the amount of mana you get from this card.
...yet aren't Mox artifacts normally supposed to have a casting cost of 0? ;)

By the way, this is the first and will most likely stay the only one-card-infinite-combo ever.

'anyway aggravated ***ault and gemhide sliver + 5 other slivers is infinite mana anyway.' ... only if you can use it quick enough. As aggravated ***ault creates new phases you just lose unused mana between phases (and are left glad that the days of mana burn are gone)

would I rather play this card or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn?

This card is somewhat overrated because one you have the 15 mana you will have enough to do mostly whatever you want. however this plus shivan dragon......

Quite obviously the best card ever. It works great with Gleemax, Sliver Queen, Blaze, Clockwork Dragon, and so many others I couldn't dream of mentioning them all by name. Not to mention that it makes those really annoying cards like Scald obsolete.

Of course, it has one huge downside. If that card is tapped and it gets destroyed, you better have some backup plan or you'll be losing infinity life due to mana burn.... Of course, I like to make a distinction between "infinite" (infinity - infinity = 0) and "virtually infinite" (infinity - virtually infinity = infinity) so that I can spend all that mana on something just in case. Sometimes your friends will let you play like that, but I'm not sure how the official rules would look on that.

One card combo especially worth mentioning: Put an Essence Sliver, a Sliver Queen, and a Magma Sliver out on the field, and tap Mox Lotus. Use the mana to get a bunch of 1/1 colorless Sliver creature tokens, tap some of those to empower the others, and then attack. Any attack that doesn't get neutralized somehow will deal damage to something, and the Essence Sliver's special ability will kick in, giving you a crap-load of life.

(Sorry for the lack of a link to look up the Magma Sliver. It kept glitching up for some reason.)

dude i wonder about this thing flavor wise i mean who is that women that much mana basicly puts you at a almost god-like level of power i mean you could efoortlesly destroy the eldrazi, pheriax, and nicol bolas with a sweep of your frigin hand... then again this is a un-card but it still makes me wonder.

Made completely irrelevant by the elimination of mana burn. OH WAIT...

@Mode: Mana Clash can theoretically go infinite by itself...if you're lucky beyond belief.
smilie23
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.5/5.0) (3 votes)
Correct me if I'm wrong but there seems to be a bit a limitation with this card...
Theoretical it is impossibilities to create infinite mana, just as it would be impossible to spend infinite mana. Maybe it should read "Add up to (infinite colorless mana) to your mana pool."
That aside, say you were to add 100 colorless to your pool with the intention of turning it into one Black - you CAN'T. The artifact is TAPPED and artifacts don't work when they are tapped.

I'd like to do plulsatrix's idea with a playset of keys and tezzeret so I can tell everyone at the table that they lose infinite times infinity life and I gain infinite times infinity times x opponents life.

Between this and Emrakul, I think the message is rather clear. They might as well put an entry in the comp saying "when your opponent has 15 or more mana in his mana pool, failure to concede may be considered unsportsmanlike conduct."

this card is fun. in combo with johnny combo player you can have your entire deck as your hand. of corse, that only works on ether yours or your opponents turns because it's ability requires tapping but...
oh, and black lotus, black lotus, black lotus, black lotus, swamp, dark ritual, this. INFINITE MANA TURN 1!!!!!

@smilie23, they removed that rule like 5 or so years before this card came out, this is unhinged, not ungluded. (a common misconception is that the 2 sets were made back to back, but they weren't, even though they are considered one block.)

@ divine_exodus, only tap activations can't be made while tapped, it was my understanding he was referring the the passive ability about mana burn and the {100} add 1 mana of any color.

Let me explain: This card used to be necessary so people could use Wild Growth without worrying about mana burn if they cast a 1 cmc spell. But now with mana burn gone this card is less useful.

I find this card a funny jab a players that feel more mana automatically equates to more power. Sure, with the right cards it could win you the game, but a deck full of nothing but Moxes and Lotuses will be just that, a $5,000+ deck full mana.

If we're going to get technical here, this card isn't all that great. Using the ability will put an ability on the stack that adds a colorless mana to your pool an infinite number of times. So, the ability would remain on the stack indefinitely, making it impossible to play spells that aren't instants (or don't have flash) and impossible to end the current phase...

WAIT! Nevermind. It's a mana ability. Doesn't use the stack. paradox avoided.

Augh. Ok look, when you add 6 to you mana pool with an ability, you add it all at once, not incrementally. There is no infinite combo or paradox here because there is nothing that happens an infinite number of times. You add Infinite to you mana pool once, not 1 to your pool an infinite number of times.

It would be pretty cool to make an Infinity-based Unhinged deck using Tinker or Master Transmuter to cast this, then use it to cast X-costed spells.

Would you like to deal infinite damage to your opponent, or gain infinite life? How about making an infinity of tokens, or one single infinitely powerful creature?

So ridiculous, and yet so flavorful somehow.

Should have "when using Mox Lotus, sacrifice it unless you cackle evilly and yell I AM A GOD!" XD

@Mode: Well, technically there's also Tidewater Minion untapping itself an infinite number of times. This is probably the only card that's an infinite combo by itself that actually does anything.

I like the card, but I really wish they would have made it 0 like every other Mox. I understand that the joke is that if you can afford to cast it you should have already won the game by now anyway, but they could have been a bit creative with that idea with additional costs.

Perhaps they could have tried something like the following (just an example):
As an additional cost to play Mox Lotus, choose one - Pay 49 life; or remove 200 cards from your library; or remove twenty creature cards from your graveyard; or sacrifice twenty creatures.

Something cute like that to reference iconic alternate win-condition cards where if you were playing one of those cards you would have won already anyway. If you didn't catch the cards referenced, they were in order: Test of Endurance, Battle of Wits, Mortal Combat, and Epic Struggle.

Another possible option is to push the "you should have won already" theme:
You can only play Mox Lotus if your opponent has exactly 1 life, or if you have played ten or more spells this turn. or if you have drawn 8 or more cards this turn, or the total power of creatures you control is twenty or higher.

@ azure_drake222222: Really? That doesn't seem possible. What happens when it's destroyed without infinite mana in your pool? Is there some kind of temporary rule change that makes mana burn you for only that turn? Do you suffer from mana burn for the rest of the game? What if Mox Lotus is in your deck but you never play it?

The joke is that you should be able to win already with fifteen mana, so infinite mana is just about the same as fifteen. That's probably true in most sixty-card constructed decks, but maybe not Commander, so it could be a reasonable card to use in a fun deck if your group doesn't mind Un-Cards.

I don't understand all of the people listing everything you can do with this card. Just Pyromatics and be done with it. I think Mindbreak Trap (which won't be castable for its trap cost) and Time Stop are basically the only cards in the GAME that can beat that, short of straight up "you can't lose the game" effects, (not including platinum angel, because this can just kill the angel) whereas other infinite mana sinks have more ways to be thwarted (Krosan Grip and Sudden Spoiling are a good place to look for many of the ideas showing up. Time Stop for combos with sorcery speed components).
