Good: + works like a permanent giant growth for any 1/1 tokens you have, or more than that for 0/1 tokens + good with creatures you want to sac + good with creatures that you control for one turn anyway (if you steal them for a turn, unearth them, or they're like ball lightning suicide creatures)
Bad: - Eruption sounds like something sudden somehow, so I'd expect this to be an instant or give the tokens haste, and it does neither - Far too expensive. For a six mana card you could expect to get two or three 4/4 tokens by itself, without having to sacrifice anything - Doesn't read "sacrifice any number of creatures". Since you have to sacrifice all creatures, you also have to sacrifice those you want to keep - Narrow. If you don't have lots of creatures in play (ie if you topdeck it after mass removal) it's a dead card - For the same mana cost you can also get a nice dragon or something
So all in all it's pretty bad. 1.5/5

Considering the ammount of creatures that let you put eldrazi tokens into play, I'd say this is pretty good.

this is an amazing card, especially in rise. I pulled this in the prerelease and was hesetent about playing it, but it turns out that every time I played it I won the next turn. It's crazy in a set where you have so many eldrazi spawn. One game I had let a rapacious one swing a couple times then played this for 12 hellions. The only things in the set that can stop it are consume the meek and all is dust. And flavor wise it doesn't even make sense, 4/4 hellions do not seem very meek to me.

nice synergy with pawn of ulamog. sac all your creatures, get a 4/4 and a 0/1 for each creature that went away. once your 4/4's start to die off, just play another eruption and turn your 0/1's into more 4/4's.

its a card that you build your deck around, and when you do it pays big. i also like how there is only one R in the cost, makes it easy to splash red for it in say a green manna ramp. possibly a light red splash in what would otherwise be eldrazi green would be fun to play with. would also allow lightning bolts, helping with greens removal problem.

Impossible to play with Mortician Beetle, Sacrier, because you have to sacrifice ALL of your creatures. Unless of course your opponent has a Mortician Beetle, in which case you just took a step backwards.

Doubling season + full echo Mage + this = 6 times as many hellions
btw: WTF is a hellion??? Seems like a wurm/plant thing tht incubates underground before coming to surface. But I'm just guessing

@Gezus8z Disaster Radius can take care of it pretty easily.
But either way, I'd say this card is pretty good, especially in the Limited format. 4/5

I got hit for 20 after my opponent dropped this over his Eldrazi Spawn in a draft. The next two games I triple-cast Nomads' Donkey-embly with Echo Mage. He conceded both times before I got a chance to copy the rebound and get upwards of 200 soldiers on the field.
Also @BlackAlbino
Start with N creatures. Original eruption goes on the stack. Activate Echo Mage ability: first and second copies go on the stack. Second copy resolves: N creatures sacked; 2N hellions put on the field. First copy resolves: 2N hellions sacked; 4N hellions put on the field. Original eruption resolves: 4N hellions sacked; 8N hellions put on the field.
I count an 8x boost over the original.

Love this with eldrazi spawns Green / Red Turbo Tokens
Hellion Erruption + Goblin Bushwhacker + Beastmaster Ascension = Fun
And for added pleasure, why not have a Magma Phoenix on deck before playing this to clear the decks. Alternatively, play a Caldera Hellion after the fact and your 4/4 Hellions all survive.

Just put the finishing touches on my budget spawn deck, with pretty good results against Jund, Goblins, and Blue/White control. Thought I'd share:
There are a few win conditions: you can soften them up wtih Raid Bombardment and easily take half their life with Might of the Masses on an unblocked token. You can create a legion of bears with Broodwarden and then either make them flying and indestructible with the monument, or turn them all into Hellions if the Broodwarden gets removed. Obvious weaknesses are Pyroclasm-type effects, early flyers, and tramplers. Maelstrom Pulse also gets rid of the Hellions, unfortunately. I thought about adding Goblin Bushwhacker to give them haste, but getting to 8 mana would be too hard without refocusing the deck.
Like I said, the deck is budget and uses no rares except Hellion Eruption. The Eldrazi Monuments are borrowed from my friend and are not really integral to the deck - they can be replaced with Coat of Arms, or just another land, Growth Spasm, or Raid Bombardment. Getting color screwed has almost never been a problem, but obviously put in Rootbound Crags if you have them.
Have fun!

So, imagine you have all the red mana in the world...
Anyways, this card is definitely good for token decks. Turn a ton of Saprolings into 4/4s, Soldiers into 4/4s, Eldrazi Spawn into 4/4s; anywhere where you're gonna have a massive amount of weak creatures, this thing's gonna pop up outta nowhere and bite your enemy's ass. Also, if you happen to have 9 mana and be playing white/red, Second Sunrise could go really well with this; sacrifice all your creatures, get that many 4/4s, then get all your non-token creatures back, enchantments and all. This isn't exactly just a filler card to toss into any red deck, but it has a nice niche in certain play styles- which is the kind of card I like best anyways.

Think of it as a more stable Mass Polymorph, and more or less fun to play than that particular card depending on your play style.
If it were instant, casting it in response to a board wipe would be incredibly amusing.

@GracefulInferno that was hilarious. An Old Spice deck? I guess Hellion Eruption would be random enough for that.
And now, I am motivated to finish that 5-color Zubera deck I was working on way back when... plus with only one red in the cost, it's easily splashable! Nice!

I really wished this worked a bit more like Caldera Hellion That would be sweet.
But by all means, if you've got some way of giving these things haste (Sarkhan Vol?), then this thing could quite possibly become pretty scary despite the intimidating mana cost.

I gave it a conditional 5/5 for flavor and bombastic combos. Parallel Lives and Mycoloth love this card. I have a screenshot of easily creating 112 Hellions with two Parallel Lives up. Swung for 448. It's got powerful potential without being completely thoughtless and game ending on its own in playing it (read: Titans)
If they all had haste, I'd consider playing it. As is, it's a massive liability that needs a lot of work to get rolling correctly. There are a lot of things it can do, but, well, turning all of your creatures into 4/4's isn't that scary.
