Allright, who wasn't expecting this card to be in? @MasterOfCruelties: Hence the reason of my comment. This card is a staple in pretty much any creature-based green or white deck in modern, not to mention Melira Pod. Not having it in the set would be the strangest decision Wizards has done to date.

Without combos, this is powercreep. Annoying when lifegain becomes staple, makes it harder for burn to take game 1.

5 points of damage, 4 life, and having to kill it atleast twice to make it go away. Playable in either mono-colored, and both colors have synergy to easily combo with persist?
Poor design aside (shouldn't have been hybrid).... I'm Not saying it should never have been printed or anything, but I would like to take this time to express my undying hatred of having to face this card.

Some say it's a mini-Thragtusk for three. That's a bit of an understatement. I think the more accurate way to say it is that this is an almost-Thragtusk for three. Gain 4 life, block twice and trade once or twice, it does almost everything a Thragtusk can but comes down two full turns earlier.

Lifegain is undervalued at times. This guy is my go-to for anti-burn since he stops 1-2 of the ground guys, gains 2-4 life, is fetchable with GSZ (for some healing G1) while being an on-curve beater.
