I like this card a lot. The five mana cost give you a black lotus that doesn't have to be sacrificed. I think this is gonna see a lot of play in standard and I'll be happy to see it in my card pool at the m13 prerelease.

A friend and messing around with standard and new M13 stuff, trying to break something. This gets imprinted on a Myr Welder. Then a Soliton gets imprinted on it. Then I die to Sands of Delirium.
I wish the format was slow enough for things like this to happen in competitive play...

This card is just stupid in control or ramp decks. I run two in grixis control and on the opening draw you can go talisman, lotus, griselbrand/bolas

Why, hello lotus! I have four dragonspeaker shamans on the field already. so you let me play Dragon Tyrant for free? Thanks! That is, free enough to burn all your creatures with fireball, considering this particular instance is late game with all 4 of these things out and 15 lands or so. Woo!
sadly, (at least in my meta) it doesn't see much standard play, since if you can make it to 5 you can play most of your win cons already. thragtusk, for example. Control decks often have either better 5 drops, can stall long enough to not need the ramp, or use farseek since it can be reused with snapcaster or simply played once or early to mid game to fix the mana base. I really like this card, i just wish it was more viable right now. Maybe i'm not doing it right..

I always like flickering this with Venser. It helps that they both rock on their own, but being able to drop a bomb on your turn and still have counterspell / Restoration Angel mana... just plain fun.

With Ral Zarek in play this just became playable. I remember passing this card along in Draft just because it was too cumbersome to play on Turn 5, yep you basically wasted 5 mana to get back 3 mana, expending 2 mana for nothing.
But with Ral Zarek out you can typically tap 5 to play this, get 3 mana, then untap, and get another 3 mana. So in the end you are paying 5, to gain 6 mana. Netting you 1 mana more! you are probably thinking what is the difference between 5 mana and 6 at this point? Niv Mizzet, Dracogenius thats who!

so basically it's Thran Dynamo but for one more in CMC it produces whatever color mana i want. yea, it's that powerful. the only way this doesn't come out better is if it's a card that you can only use colorless mana to cast.
