The effect this card gives is nasty but like all ultimatums it is very difficult to cast and Grixis colors just cant do it regularly.

In these colors, you don't even need to ramp into it very hard. Grixis control can easily create a stranglehold on the gamestate, so you can slowly build up to 7 mana, and then when they're already in a weakened position, you offer them a Cruel Ultimatum that they'll likely never recover from.
Usually I'll run it in a Pyromancer Ascension deck; it really helps out the recent of your control spells, and you're almost certain to win if you're able to get copies of the Ultimatum.

Both the new and old arts are sweeeeeeeet. When in doubt you can always Spelltwine it, after playing/discarding it. Even in my sub-par learning-the-game decks I would win basically just by casting it.
