One Commander Precon Manland... And it's the worst from all of them...

WHAT's the matter, Wizards? Felt bad about having Red Akroma as the only creature with morph, so instead of putting in another decent morph creature, you put in a janky morph land? How clever -___-
^that's sarcasm, this sucks.

Let's light up the mood a little. It's a land that shouts "SURPRIIIIIISSSSEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

You all can suck it; this land kicks ass. @Greg, you forgot Chromeshell Crab. Because every nonland morph in the set has to have "krome" in its name.

@ Vividice, Devour for Power gets Svogthos, the Restless Tomb, which is a pretty darn solid manland if you are playing it correctly. And by correctly, i mean dredge.

Anyone see that you can block a big creature with this when its morphed. Pay the morph cost before the damage step and the attack does nothing or watch an opponent try to burn it and do the same thing.

Block a creature, then morph it. Then tell the opponent that his creature was blocked by a non-creature land.

You can also use it for mana acceleration, since casting it morphed doesn't count as your one land a turn. Still, 5 for an extra source of 1 wouldn't be worth much, if that were all it could do.

This is an underrated card. In draft, I see this as a utility tool. Sure at 5 mana, its an expensive extra land drop, but in a lot of situations, it's 3 colorless for a 2/2 and an additional 2 colorless to prevent damage from a creature for a turn OR to eat a creature removal spell. Late game, I would be happy to draw this guy over a land that only produced mana.
This is a land that can be a creature if youre flooded, or serve as card advantage by taking a lightning bolt or doom blade away from an opponent. There is a reason this land card is in my cube.

It's pretty good.

This works well with Akroma as the only other morph, as it can force them to waste removal on an unknown.

wouldnt this be considered strictly better than a gray ogre?

@omni8000 No, it doesn't benefit from red-boosting effects.

With this, Whetwheel, and Lumithread, the only permanent type to not have morph is planeswalker.

Imagine something like:

Planeswalker Guy 2BlueBlue
Morph 1BlueBlue
Whenever Planeswalker Guy is turned face up, counter target spell unless its controller pays 3
+1: Turn Planeswalker Guy face down.
-7: Turn all other nonland permanents face down. (They're 2/2 creatures.)

And maybe he starts with three loyalty or something.

-Too many lands? You can have a creature
-Not enough lands? you can have a land
-Block a creature and then save your chump
-Like fatties? It's colorless mana-ramp!
-Safely attacks into players as well. Many morphs have very very disadvantageous effects when blocked; The opponent has to consider that there's a good chance when you swing with a 2/2 that their giant blocker could get eaten.
-Adds to the morph creature count so you can distract kill spells in general (I use it next to Liege of the Pit and/or grinning demon
-can be used to counter a kill spell as well: (I.E.)
"I doom blade your morph"
"*flurp* It's a land!"

Another nice thing is that next to mana-sac thrulls (blood vassal for example) it's very hard to actually kill as you don't need lands open. You can additionally nigh-guaranteed kill spells go for it when your friends know there's a 50-66% chance it's a giant demon about to punch them. It's lose-lose! They either waste their spell, or leave mana open to kill it at instant speed; slowing their game. Swing with it to put the pressure on!

These are all reasons that it works good in a casual demon deck. You need mana, you need things to sacrifice, you need early creatures, you need ways to suck kills spells out or to quickly nab your demons (I.E. liege can morph on T4 with no ramp; handy indeed!)

This card is the one that makes me think that Morph is the creature version of cycling. For example, compare this one with Blasted Landscape. Or Scornful Egotist with Sandbar Merfolk (ok a little different porpuse for this one, but they look almost similar)
I really think that they should bring back Morph from time to time, like they do with cycling, because it's versatile and interesting. Unlucky, it can be done for Instant and Sorcery... Maybe a version like 3, Discard this card: Put a 2/2 creature in the Battlefield.
No?
