Quite possibly one of the best cards in the Ravnica block, if not the entire game.

Great flavor, great art, great ability. I love using this card, and the character is amazing as well.

This card appeals on so many levels. It's flavorful, works with many combos, and is absolutely devastating with a dedicated strategy. There are so many ways to make the 'cost' of losing creatures symmetrically nothing of the sort.

I can imagine decks built around her creature destruction engine. Goes well with gravepact

She is Xathrid Demon's best firend.

This dude (lady) goes great with Ooze Garden and Gaea's Anthem. Even better if you can include Kresh the Bloodbraided. Every time you sacrifice a goo it gets +1/+1 from Gaea's Anthem and Kresh just keeps getting bigger and bigger and you keep gaining life. So simple yet so morbidly satisfying.

Oh, where to start?

Put simply, for a deck based around her, she would completely slaughter any opponent. For the star card of a deck, she is perfection. Her synergy, as nether of her abilities require anything of Savra herself has near endless capacity. however (And this is a big however) in any deck that is not specifically centered around her, she is garbage.

I have a black/green elf deck. I like this deck a great deal, yet, one might think "Elves, black, green? It's Golgari" I I would agree, the problem is, time and time again, I have tried to find a place for her in this deck and time and time again, I have failed miserably.

Her manna cost verses her stats make her useless alone, also, her passive abilities stop her from acting on them herself.

Without some serious support from just about everything around her she can't do anything. This leaves her completely dependent on the deck, my biggest pet peeve.

The really big downside about her is that she is a cool card and I was very much looking forward to putting her in a deck, but I lack the cards.

So, complaints vs praises:

Base rating: ***

High Manna-cost to stat ratio: -*
Potential synergy: +***
Deck dependency: -***

Leaving the final rating at **

I can see this being very useful in a devour/Jund deck. Play this, then Mycoloth. Next turn, play Marrow Chomper and gain 4x the life.

I run her with Lyzolda the blood witch and jund hackblades. Along with other tri colored creatures. Worked out ok excpet i only have 2 lyzolda and 2 savra. Ill get more.

It's a great card for life gain, but difficult to set up a kill condition - other than forcing your opponents to sacrifice all their creatures... I can see how she could be beast with say, Carrion Feeder and a mess of black creatures.

You could always pair her with swirl the mists to have both abilities trigger on the same color, and since you're running green the color problem won't that bad.
Then just add sakura tribe elder and golgari germination, as well as a couple of good sac-engines (vampire aristocrat to hit your opponent for alot after clearing his side of the board, or perilous forays to go crazy with mana and increase your chances of drawing useful stuff)

I have a golgari deck centered around this and shambling shell, and any other creature, usually mortician beetle.

example, turn 1, mortician beetle, turn 2 golgari thug, turn 3, shambling shell, turn 4, savra, sac the shell mortician beetle at the least gets +2/+2 if you opponent has anything. Dredge it up and GO, the best i got the beetle to was a 20/20, and if they manage to kill it, just sac the thug or vigor mortis it. your opponents will never have creatures, and you will have a beast. works epically well in multi-player games, got out this combo in a five for all and it soon turned to a 4 on 1, scary combo.

Shambling Shell is worth a mnetion no?
he is his own sac engine
on top of making them sac a creature every turn while you're building a progressively larger threat

It's actually pretty easy to have lots of creatures that are black/green, because Worm Harvest (maybe paired with Dakmor Salvage) allows you to create a very large number of them every turn! :) You still need a sacrifice outlet, but the engine creating the creature tokens just needs certain cards in your graveyard and can't be dealt with easily.. By the way, such decks that sacrifice creatures can easily return her to play with yet another card that simply waits in your graveyard: Dread Return! :)

If the Queen of Blades were in Magic, black and green would be her colours.

My opponents go insane when I have her in play with Golgari Germination and Grave-Shell Scarab/Shambling Shell.

For life gaining, Golgari Brownscale works really well with her, if you have a card to continually sac the lizard, such as Doomgape. Basically you'll be gaining 5 life everytime you sac the lizard, and it keeps coming back thanks to its dredge ability.

So many combos for this card I can't think of a single one right now.

I wonder if that is really Savra, or Svogthir? Since in the storyline she was betrayed in her quest to overthrow the Golgari by Szadek and killed, whereupon the ghost Svogthir took possession of her now life-less body for his own whims.

Savra is one of my favorite cards. Her effect can be devastating, but she's expensive for a grizzly bear. She's a perfect Johnny card. With cards like shambling shell, skeletal vampire, and thoughtpicker witch she can really shine. She also loves grim backwoods.
Basically, Savra is a grave pact. Except that Savra requires a lot of thought and creativity to make her work, whereas grave pact requires a black deck with creatures. Gravepact is banned in my playgroup, on my insistence. Savra has a deck built around her that I play regularly.

I've loved this card from the first time I saw it. The problem I've had with her is that she is a combo piece, and being legendary you don't want to run too many of her for risk of them eating up copies in your hand. But I suppose, she is a lightning bolt/shock/go for the throat target. In the right deck you can always sac her in response...I guess the question is....Her or Glissa as a commander in my GreenBlack EDH?

She absolutely loves Shambling Shell. Run her with Grave Pact, Butcher of Malikar, Attrition, and any Dredge creature and you'll lose more than a few friends.

The True ruler of the Golgari. Forget Jarad, forget Vraska.

This would be perfect in my G/B Golgari graveyard/sacrifice deck. If only this was standard.

I run her in a pretty fun GB Infect deck. Its nice to have options Nantuko Husk or Flesh-Eater Imp, Deathspore Thallid+Mycoloth+Necrogenesis makes for a lot of fun and the deck can lean either way infection or attrition/bruiser and if the game runs too long i fall back to Sisters of Stone Death with or without Glistening Oil to swing through a blockade.

I heard a rumour that they are going to make Savra a planeswalker.. Is that true?

Blood Pet becomes good. If you really want to annoy your opponent(s), run Perilous Forays and Bloodghast (extra points for Amulet of Vigor tossed in).

This seems like it'd be crazy with Living Death. Even though you and your opponents sacrifice creatures simultaneously, Savra's triggers won't resolve until all of the formerly-dead creatures have been reanimated. So in the end, you'll get all the creatures out of your graveyard (which can easily be a lot, if you're playing Black or Green) and your opponents will have to sacrifice most or all of whatever they retrieve.

@kyzar: I ran a Mortician Beetle deck once. Stick a Blade of the Bloodchief on it for extra fun.
