It's awesome. Drop any excess mana you have, and get flexible mana at your disposal. It may not be great in tournament or where decks are made to use every shred of mana, but in my casual games, I usually have some I can store. 5/5

Powered Artifact, unlimited mana fixing.

A good place to convert mana from your Cloudpost and Vesuva powered deck.

Another example of a situation in which the simple application of one or several Energy Chambers makes an apparently simple and harmless artifact terribly, horribly broken.

Use with Braid of fire to let you keep your excess mana.

The back of that gemstone must look pretty empty, all 5 colors are in front... Jokes aside, absolutely amazing. Bought this for my EDH and killed multiple people with an unexpected Comet Storm. This thing lets you throw mana from anywhere into a generator that people don't even blink at until it's too late.

Second turn play Channel, then this array of awesome, abuse as desired, possibly through Exsanguinate to extend mana.

used in all my artifact decks,
store up mana/chargecounters, then dismantle.

"Before the end of your turn...."

You'll be saying that a lot. It has a happy little home in my U/R deck replete w/ counters. Helped me cast suffocating blast w/o even trying.

@Lavrant: Or just Power Artifact. It still doesn't work though, unless your idea of infinite mana is infinitely getting a single mana. I guess you could add Doubling Season though, were you so inclined.

@C5r1a5z0y: Or Mana Reflection

Once you've got it powered up with at least 3 charge counters, this plus Gilder Bairn plus Paradise Mantle gives infinite mana.

Tap for 1 mana (+1), untap to add 3 charge counters to Gemstone Array (-2), remove two charge counters and tap Gilder Bairn for 3 mana (+1), untap to add 4 charge counters to Gemstone Array...

Something tells me that, in the books-verse anyway not the cards-verse, this should technically be considered more powerful than Black Lotus. Black Lotus would be more valuable on the Bazaar market sure, but not necessarily a winning proposition as a weapon.

This makes mana continuously and doesn't sacrifice. Sure, in card game strategy, the 0-cost card works better to kill faster, but I imagine that Bolas' Secret Lair probably has one of these tucked away with a Sol Ring keeping it going, whereas Black Lotus would be sought more by the Indiana Jones' of the multiverse- as a great historical find, something that you keep in a glass case forever because it's precious--which is actually what I bet happens to most Black Lotuses anyway.

This machine on the other hand is actually within the grasp of most artificers to build, and definitely pays out what you put in.

Yep, this is more useful for winning, and Black Lotus is more useful for paying for college.

This is, unfortunately, the best mana fixing card in game unless i missed something. Wish there was a 1for1 mana fixing for my blue memnarch deck i have so many colorless mana from artifacts.

This allows Izzet Guildmage to convert red and black ritual-style instants to blue. I am no longer restricted to having to use three Rite of Flames for my infinite combos! Do I want to fireball or braingeyser you?

Like everyone else here, I love this effect. But when you're struggling for the right mana to get back in the game, boy is this a terrible 4-drop!

@CogMonocle: Wouldn't work. March of the Machines makes all non-creature artifacts into creatures. And a creature cannot be equipped to another creature. If it was already equipped to a creature, it falls off.

What you're looking for is Animate Artifact to make just the Gemstone Array a creature, then equip the Bracers to it.

At worst this filters two mana into one that you need. At best it's an incredible mana sink for EDH and perhaps even for Modern.

This is a very resplendent foil, and super combo's with Rasputin
