Double the value, double the fun. Lets you control your opponent's board while keeping the clock running.

Yet another tried but missed effort at red's entry (only one missing!) into the two-drop mega cycle. If it had 2/1 and also shot at the controllers of creatures receiving damage from instants and sorceries, it would have found its place...

Look, you get even more value when combined with Searing Blood!

One thing I really like about this cycle is that they really DO feel like global enchantments while also being creatures.

Doesn't combine with searing blood, because the creature has to die before it deals damage to the player. If your opponent had multiple creatures, sure. But it's not a strict combo.

Far far better than everyone else thinks. the 1 power is not going to matter as much as everyone thinks, when it's still DOUBLING ALL OF YOUR F R U CKING BURN SPELLS.

This card is scary, to say the least. Don't even try playing a creature after this thing come down. Turn two Pack Rat? Frostburn Weird? Turn three Nightveil Specter? What about a Boros Charm for 4 and 4? No, the first thing you do is kill him, unless it's later into the game and you can afford to play a creature, then respond with a kill spell when they burn you.

Fortunately, he is also an enchantment, which means every color can destroy him (although it's kind of hard to do in blue). Clearly Wizards knew his potential to take over whole games, for if he wasn't an enchantment, the games would all go like turn three Lightning Strike you and your Fleecemane Lion, turn four Boros Charm you and your Smiter.

Guttersnipe, Young Pyromancer, and now this. You can tell Wizards wants to see Mono Red Burn be a thing again.

Any card that makes Blightning even nastier is a winner in my book.

Wow, this, guttersnipe and Young pyromancer... How broken is red gonna get this standard?

Definitely gonna have to be a 4 of.

Edit: This guy is the best contester for being red's power 2 drop, he stacks and absolutely slaughters you opponents field. Try playing against a burn deck with two or even one of these out, you'll understand it then.

This card is one of the first things people are gonna want to kill early game. At least this provides a distraction from my Boros reckoners or Scourge of Valkas getting killed later. (I have in mind a mono-red devotion Scourge of Valkas deck.) This gets a 4.5/5, for effect, and for an almost guaranteed piece of bait.

Very interesting card. I heard one person say there was not enough burn in standard, But there is Young Pyromancer, guttersnipe, and pyromancers gauntlet(maybe Chandra also) as support for burn. Then all then plain old burn have tons of cards like searing blood, lighting strike, mizzum mortars, and electrickery and many more.

This guy can be devastating in the right circumstances, but I wouldn't go so far as to put him in the power 2-drop cycle. Sometimes he can be a dead card, (e.g. against control decks, who can just leave him on the board to deal with later), and top decking him can be disappointing at times. Once your removal is used up, he kind of just sits there, in all his 1/1 glory.

@Raexs That cycle was already completed by Young Pyromancer who is miles ahead of this guy. That said I'm psyched to have a playable Satyr who isn't a Planeswalker or a God. Now if we could just get a couple good lords for them...

@Odee: I think he would rather have Basilisk Collar.

Main decking a playset of him in my burn deck (making it a burn/control) and keeping a playset of Young Pyromancer in the sideboard to convert to a RDW deck vs control. Brilliant.

I don't know about other people, but I find it stressful sometimes when targeting a burn spell when I feel like I should be burning a player's face off but there's some annoying creature staring at me that may very well be the death of me.

With this out, I simply don't have that same worry. For that reason alone it's worth its weight in my red deck. Well, it's a damn useful effect too, of course.

When I first started playing Magic, I dreamed about this sort of effect.
