Good synergy with Burn at the Stake.

Green/red and red/white decks are happy to see this card.

Interesting... reminds me of Brightstone Ritual, except for all creatures instead of just Goblins. Definitely has potential.

I guess once you have four or more creatures in play, this is doing alright. But normally, cards generating mana for one turn are supposed to enable you to bring creatures into play. So that's kinda odd. I don't like the situation where you can't create a token army, because you don't have enough mana, and this one won't help then.

This card will probably not see much play in Standard (and none in Limited), however I am somewhat interested to see if it finds a home in a Pauper deck at some point. My guess is it won't--but here's hoping, little card, here's hoping!

Marmaris74, they expect us to make Boros Human decks so we can do silly things like Dual Casting an Increasing Devotion, this card, or (obviously) Burn at the Stake. They want us to spew weenies of both colors all over the place and drop Kessig Malcontents as a finisher. Most importantly, though, they want to drive up the demand for Cavern of Souls by making Boros Humans completely ridiculous. RDW? More like R/WDW.

All of what JonTheRed said is valid, but also, I bet this card and the rest of the red "army" cards, as Marmaris74 calls them, will come into their prime when Boros returns in the new Ravnica set, which will be next.

Battle Hymn of Scars/Innistrad Standard

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the Tyrant of Discord!
He won't be played in vintage, but you know he'll trash your board.
With the extra red I've floated, now I'm cheating in this sword.
Just scoop and don't prolong!

come on mid 3's for real. Spend two mana get like 5+ mana, yes it is a card that you're spending but getting lots of mana for a good spell. 5/5

A staple in all goblin decks :D ( see what my fireball can do)

Well, this could help Bonfire of the Damned if you weren't lucky enough to get it as a miracle, but if you had enough creatures for it to be effective otherwise, this is probably just icing on the cake

A few weeks ago I found a very interesting thing to do with this card. It really only works because my local metagame has become the shoddy mess of netdecks that it is.

FNM once had this scenario play out:

T1: Mountain, Mox Opal, Memnite, Signal Pest. Tap Mox Opal for red, Kuldotha Rebirth the Mox Opal.

Opponent: "Thought it was tempered steel for a sec there"
Me: "Not really... It's mono Red. Hopefully i get another Mountain"
Opponenet: "...Okay"

Opponent ponders off an island

T2: Battle Hymn, Hellrider, Swing. 18 Damage

Now this may not seem very reliable, and admittedly, that was quite the nut draw, but Faithless Looting combined with a few Chancellor of the Forge gives you free hasted dudes that make that T2 Hellrider so possible, and generally I find myself looting the Chancellors away into another 0 drop to do more fun things with on T1. This card is actually not that great, but the explosive quality it gives a deck is very useful for a very aggressive mono-red list.

The crazy stuff starts when the one of Infernal plunge in the deck and a Battle Hymn accellerates into a T3 or 4 Chancellor when you have a few weenies on the field. Lethal swings abound, IF you can ramp into fatties that like lots of creatures. Hellrider and the red Chancellor fit that de***ion perfectly.

Stonewright has an amazing synergy with this card in that deck and absolutely LOVES to be bonded with a Vault Skirge or Signal Pest. Even when you can't slam the early fatty, pumping a Vault Skirge for 4 or 5 early on is a scary concept. It allows you to relax a little and draw up so you can explode again if they hit a boardwipe on the 4th or 5th turns. Let's not forget, Vault Skirge does not care about Doom Blade. Or Go for the Throat. Or Whipflare. Or Rolling Temblor for that matter.

The thing I don't get about Avacyn Restored is the amount of red "army" cards. There are many red cards like this that are only good when you have out many creatures. (e.g. Burn at the Stake, Banners Raised, etc...) However, I can only find one red card that actually makes tokens or multiple creatures, and that is Thatcher Revolt. How does Wizards expect us to make red token decks if they don't give us any red tokens?
Edit:
@JonTheRed- Thanks, I had assumed you were supposed to use this in R/W, but it seems weird that there are virtually no red cards with which to use this. You're sorta forced to add in white. That is, you can't really play this, Banners Raised, Kessig Malcontents or Burn at the Stake unless you are playing R/W. Of course, Red does have a lot of small weenies in Avacyn Restored, but it doesn't have any cards that really make this worth playing (though it would take a lot to make Battle Hymn worth playing).

Yeah, whenever I play against this, it is always followed by Burn at the Stake to my face. I should invest into board sweepers one of these days.

actually works as a good substitute for Brightstone ritual in my goblin deck. I just need to find a few more substitutes and i can play goblins in standard until october :P

This is gonna be fun once Return Rolls around. I have a deck idea, mostly just for the hell of it, that runs this with Goblin Electromancers, and Krenko, Mob Boss. I know it's never going to be the most efficient use of him, but it will be a fun way to ramp into.... i don't know, an Epic Experiment.

This becomes insane in a token deck.

In a R/W token deck deck it allows the owner to splash their big cards early!

Krenko > make 20 dudes > battle hymn > any burn spell.

You fellas have got to think outside the box. The only reason to run this in a goblin deck is if you already have 4 brightstone rituals in that goblin deck. Or if, for some weird reason, you only play standard.

You have to look at the upsides and downsides to either card. Brightstone ritual costs 1 less, but only counts goblins. This costs 2, but it counts EVERYTHING YOU OWN. Which means Kobolds.

This card takes on a whole new meaning with Young Pyromancer now printed. With some storm decks already running him why not run this card too?

This really shines in an Elven Burn deck. Ramping into massive Banefires is very satisfying, to say the least. 4/5
