There are a few blue cards in this set that work amazingly well in a Relentless Rats deck.

Hmmm... this could work really well in a deck with cards like Faithless Looting that have you constantly filtering.

A card that can see play! Never say never on a card with this kind of ability. He might surprice us all.

It's good in limited because it's a 5/6 flyer for six. It's ability will even in constructed show up only rarely. They could have really skipped the nonland part.

Wonderful design for a powerful effect. Ding dong, discard, draw!

Can use it to burn through your entire deck with 2 of the same dredge card.

Mahamoti Djinn + a useful ability, particularly in the right deck. Very strong build-around card.

Pros like me will be using this as our finisher. A finisher that fixes your cards so you do just that, finish.

Indeed. This, Search the City, a few islands, like 15-20 Relentless Rats, and maybe like one Dark Depths and one Vampire Hexmage for funsies could make for an interesting deck.

Just wanted to put forth my own fun combo: Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind + Relentless Rats + this equals drawing your deck and blasting your opponents for a lot. I don't know how else to break this, though. Fun, but not too useful. 3/5

Not that this is good or anything for constructed, but Tamiyo's ultimate with sphinx of the chimes lets you draw any number of cards from your deck that you want. I'd like to play a casual deck that uses such shenanigans with maybe Laboratory Maniac as a win condition. Draw an entire deck for 6 manna... yes please!

Let's not forget that this is a 5/6 flyer for 6 - that's nothing to sneeze at. Obviously, the ability is situational, but at least it's not a downside.

Get two copies of your Squee, Golbin Nabob and go to town.
I can't imagine why this is rated so low. Sure, it's not common to have its primary condition, but it's still a well-costed beatstick. Just get creative.

Did any of you think this was awful in Limited?
No, I'm not trying to sound condescending: I totally did.
But a 5/6 Flyer for 6 in blue: There's your problem.
It is one of Blue's biggest bombs. I can say, from personal experience, that facing against a player who hoarded all 4 in the draft pod not only whooped my ash, but also went 3-0.
It's Return to Ravnica's bomb Flyer. Don't underestimate it, like how I and 6 others did.

This is pretty combotastic creature. I imagine it wouldn't be unreasonable to sculpt your hand with Izzet Charm and Thoughtflare so that when you play the sphinx you could basically go off and draw million cards.

This is very interesting. It has a cool and unique ability, and at worst, it's a 5/6 flyer for 6 cmc. A very interesting strategy for this would be to play four-of niche answer cards maindeck that are killers for archetypes you are weak to (i.e. play four Grafdigger's Cages maindeck if you are weak to Zombies). That way, if you draw them and don't need them, they become mana-free card advantage. Finally, a fun casual combo would be this + Tamiyo, the Moon Sage's ultimate to draw your whole deck once you have two-of-a-kind.
TL;DR: A big beater with a niche ability, I like it better than Consecrated Sphinx

Combos with two Dredge cards with the same name; low Dredge counts preferred. Golgari Brownscale is perfect.
Discard two Dredge cards, draw two cards, and replace two draws with those two Dredge cards. Rinse and repeat.
Glad they didn't make another brokenly powerful consecrated sphinx, this is a cool sphinx for Johnny, with a nice body for limited.

I'm so surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Archmage Ascension. This bad boy is In fitting colours, and if used appropriately is up and running by the time you drop Sphinx, and assuming you're running a mostly 4-of deck, you can fill your hand with any card that you want by grabbing two of a card you don't want, and two that you do. Repeat. This is going to be a one of in my Delver/Archmage Ascension deck. 4.5/5.

How about welkin hawks, squadron hawks, wheel of sun and moon with mesmeric orb. Or the hawks with mesmeric orb and gaea's blessing? Have a recursive draw engine to fetch your combo. Then profit profusely. In casual of course. Hell i just love anything i can abuse with mesmeric orb combos.

Could very well complement a Search the City deck, as they both will benefit from having 4 copies of every single card and mono blue to ***genize the lands.

3/5 Stars. It's a big beating flier in BLUE at 6 mana, sure it'll die pretty quickly to certain decks, but it can still net you +2 cards before it dies. Yaa! Card advantage. Combos with flashback cards, sort of, and perhaps more importantly Firewing Phoenix (in standard anyway). Recurring fliers for !
Only thing that sucks about it is getting multiple in your early game Also, 0% combo with EDH :'(

My friends won't let me forget the time I had this guy out in a draft and activated the ability:
I discarded 2 Auger Spree. I drew...four lands. (Still won!)
Before the RTR draft season is over, I hope everyone manages to use the ability in Limited. It's a great feeling...even if the results aren't always great.

RIP Mahamoti Djinn, you have been replaced (unless said person is playing a djinn/arabian nights themed deck)
Many people have forgotten that good old Mahamoti was a staple inclusion in almost every blue deck as a heavy hitter/blocker when blue got the short end of the stick for creatures
Sure, blue has better creatures, but people say this is too high CMC/not for constructed etc, I really don't know what you guys are smoking really

Well, it is in most cases flat-out superior to the old Djinn... Too bad - I like Mahamoti! That being said, it's ability won't be used too often, and this card is one of those few with an ability that is uniquely useless in Commander. Still, decent overall, however.

Strictly better than Mahamoti Djinn yet rated lower than every one of its printings...
If you have two cards with the same name with the Dredge mechanic, you can immediately draw/mill your entire library (with the amount of it milled depending on the dredge amount of the chosen card). Don't forget your Infernal Tutors as effective wildcards!

Note that anything that returns cards to your hand, fetches copies of itself, etc, work well with this. We just had Squadron Hawk in standard; and people are going to rate this 2.5? That's a 2 mana cost guy who gets you another guy, then leaves two in your hand to draw 4 for free later.
Worst case scenario, you don't draw this guy and still have card advantage..
at least 3.5/5. Strong on curve finisher with a useful ability.
Has anyone else noticed the combo potential of him and horizon chimera? Draw four cards and gain 4 life... refill your hand and possibly go again. It can net great advantage, especially with an elixir of immortality in play.
