as tcollins said combo with Tortured Existence, but also then use with Street Wraith and you have a really crazy dredge engine, then use with some dredge like cards like Golgari Grave-Troll or Bloodbond Marchor something else likeSongs of the Damned or the land version crypt of agadeem

I use this in my peasant modern deck as a sideboard option. The deck features worm harvest as the main win condition with raven's crime as a powerful support tool. Faithless looting was an obvious addition and, combined with this card, gives me a solid option against aggro decks.

R, gain 4 life and mill 4, flashback for 2R. So good. Gets flame jab, and other retrace cards into my graveyard really quickly, and protects me from fast decks.

i run this in a dredge deck with Dark prophecy and let me tell you how hard it is for my opponents to declare an attack when they know i gain a life and draw card for every guy of mine that dies.
