I'm still not 100% sure about this card, it has its advantages, but it's almost like a riddle. If I draw it early game I don't want to use it because I can't get very many charge counters on it, but if I draw it late game I don't want to use it because I'll essentially throw a turn away tapping all my lands to charge it up.
However, from experience, once it's out the extra 2-3 mana you get out of it tends to be very useful. Another way to look at it is a turn 2 mana accelerator, put one charge counter on it then on turn 3 you can drop another land and play something that costs four, something like an Ondu Giant to get another land out and have a decently sized blocker for turn 3.
The card definitely has potential, but I can't make a solid judgment on it. So, I'll give it a 3/5

Hey I just started Magic a year ago and I'm a casual player, but I love this card its an amazing mana generator and its very useful especially if you want to get out the big cards. So just to clarify, the mana generated can only count for miscellaneous mana, right? In other words, It can't count as a specific land color, or am I wrong? Thanks!
all those free ways of boosting our little chalice can really pump out the mana until you have a permanent that needs the counters more. on it's own? meh... seems like it has to have synergy with other cards to be useful. 4 stars, mainly because it costs 0.

With Etherium Sculptors and Cloud Keys this card also gets much better. You can play it with one counter for a single mana with either of these out, or get counters for free if you have multiples, and then tapping your fresh Chalice to play another with even more counters on it!
Everflowing Chalice, meet Proliferate. I think you two will be good, good friends.

i think this card is an example of the mindless decklist copying that goes on in this game. this card is really Not that great, but everybody plays it. sure, extra mana always helps, but Palladium Myr beats the CC by 1 and gets you a 2/2. In my experience, unless this is played late game, you're wasting a turn trying to get moderate acceleration, and that 4CC spot is crucial to so many strategies. 2/5

@Pedroami: That's right. The mana can only be spent as colourless mana.

i have had over 40 mana in a game with this. it works amazingly with anything that provides charge counters and provides an early game mana ramp if you need it. i play with 3 of them in my deck.

Palladium myr + 2 myr galvanizers are a similar combo but have it for infinite mana, of course you could always add this card and make infinity times 2 mana. Good thing there is no such thing as mana burn.
@Condor_96 - Voltaic Key has to tap, so you'd get just slightly less than infinite mana. Even if you did, Helix Pinnacle wins on upkeep, not instantly. Please read more cards :P

This card is the heart of my proliferate deck. With trinket mages to help get out several copies from the deck and plenty of cards that just let me proliferate at my leisure, I typically end up with 40+ mana that I can use for just about anything, even busting out a Dark Depths (the hard way, not the Vampire Hexmage way) in a single turn.

HAH! my mind for the longest time made me read it as "OVERflowing chalice" until just now when i tried to look it up, and couldn't find it.
Anywayz, Put one out on turn 2, then blue control+proliferate until you have enough for ELDRAZI!
counter counter proliferate cancel cancel ELDRAZI! suck it.

I love how powerful this card is (I'd play it even if I could only cast it for 2 colorless), but I hate how unclean the card reads. Costing this at XX would be slightly better, but in any case and in Maro's words, this card uses up a lot of "complexity points" in the set.
I like how everybody's saying Proliferate, like it's some secret hidden combo.
Yes, Proliferate gives you more charge counters for this. Congratulations.
There are better infinite combos out there, and better infinite mana combos out there.

Much of this card's power is related to coming into play untapped. You only lose x mana the turn you play it, where x is the number of counters. There are many turn 3's and turn 5's where you want to play a 2 drop or a 3 drop. In general you should wait for a turn that you can play it efficiently. Better 1 counter and a creature than 2 counters and a wasted turn.
Good Card, but if you don't have a lot of mana to charge it with, it's not nearly as good. you , might be better off with Sol Ring.

This is a pretty good card and its unfortunate how people over look it wanting it to be some type of super ramp card allowing super huge spells to be cast. The reason why it received so much play is that it allowed decks that don’t run any type of ramp to get a nice acceleration of mana without any huge draw backs.
Reasons it’s a good card
-There a no clear disadvantages of running 2-3 in a deck
- It becomes better than most ramp spells on turn 4
- Its not a creature, the are thousands of ways to kill off creatures and they are usually main boarded so i would think twice about replacing this with a 2/2 myr wouldn’t be the best idea if you looking for ramp.

On turn 2, it ramps you 1 - that's not terrible, and is on par with other mana rocks like Prismatic Lens, Myr and Signets. And of course, this just gets better with more mana to multikick it, and if you actually have a way to consistently spend extra mana - like an X spell or ability - it just gets even better. Also has great synergy with proliferate, or anything that grants extra counters.
@AssKicker - I *love* that you compared this card, a very balanced yet powerful card that's legal in pretty much every format except standard, to Sol Ring, one of the most absurdly powerful mana rocks that's banned in the majority of formats, and restricted to one copy in any format it is playable in.

Surprised the mana cost wasn't just X;X, which would have achieved the same thing.
Guess the flavour of it is cooler however. Its empty, and the multikicker is what fills the chalice or what not.
Don't forget Blighted Agent for more infect to go along with all that proliferation, and what are you going to do with your ridiculous supply of colorless mana? How about a Blightsteel Colossus (how fitting that he too has infect)! Game over.
Might be worth it to go blue/black and throw in Grim Affliction, Spread the Sickness, and any number of other infect creatures (there are many in blue and black).

Had six mana every turn just from the one card.
Coupled with Voltaic Key? <3

Increase your odds of of playing efficiently by putting artifacts that cost
Bonesplitter, Flayer Husk, Arcbound Worker, Arcbound Stinger, Contagion Clasp, Porcelain Legionnaire and Vault Skirge.
