I made an aggressive white artifact deck, and the only card I've been more excited to draw than this is Stoneforge Mystic. This guy is really good, really fast and relevant for far more of the game than most two-mana creatures.

This guy is 1st-pick material, all the way. He doesn't commit you to a color, goes in absolutely any deck, and helps with the aggro plan that is ideal in this format. I had expected his one-toughness to be an issue that would drop his value a little; notsomuch. Yeah, Pith Driller will kill him, and Arc Trail, and Blisterstick Shaman, and even Instill Infection, but the fact is that your opponent won't always have those answers. And when they don't, this guy destroys.

I made a casual Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer deck with this card and not only does it help provide metalcraft fast it also then gets +3 pump from Jor Kadeen. A 6/1 first strike is a monster.

When I saw some article before NPH was released on this guy, I thought, holy crapp that's good! Then, I was lucky to pull one at the prerelease, and though I didn't use it there, I used it for a white aggro, and it is freaking AMAZING! Rarely drop it for {2}{W} unless I pull it in the late game
Hmmm, as a Star Wars fan, the illustration rocks (BreezyNate know why), he has first strike, a 3/1 count, and that weird Phyrexian ability (2 life or a plains). The fact that he's common makes him priceless. I threw this in a deck with Captain of the Watch.
I'm also kind of digging that sword...

In my opinion, one of the best Phyrexian common card, with such potential and power, combined with First Strike... Almost broken! Casting it in the second turn can deliver quite a lot of damages if you don't play against red, and if the opponent chooses to chump block it, it almost always survives and take down creatures bringing card advantage... Althought I don't like white so much, this is one of the card that suggests me to build a white deck. Maybe for pump it in the late game... 4.5/5

I play this in every aggresive deck I try in standard. It just fits wherever. It's the cheapest blocker to kill Mirran Crusader. It hits for 3 and hardly gets killed. Indeed in my illusions deck, sometimes he's the target to oblivion ring rather than my transformed Insectile Aberration. That makes me think "you're doing no wrong playing it"

This thing is just amazing. Whether you use him as the defender role, or in an aggressive deck, there is little decks that he cant fit in. 2 life is hardly a drawback. 3 damage is a monster threat to get hit with early game, and first strike ensures that he can slay an elephant and live to tell about it.
Wow. There are not many 2 drops that can wield O-Naginata unassisted, and this guy is a beast with it. Phyrexian mana creatures fit nicely into decks with equipment and prototype portal.

One of the best SOM block limited cards. A common 3/1 first strike for 2 in any color, with the option to cast it for 3 without losing life in white. I'd pick it over almost any uncommon.
