So... there are going to be two separate comment pages for double face cards?

@JFMZ2796

I thought for sure the gatherer would be using that flip button they've been showing off.

you save your mana to get a powerhouse 13/13 thing with trample?!
ON BLUE?! im loving innistrad

**Standard**

Tested this in mono-blue (Proxies) and then Blue/Green, failed hard. Just a heads up.

Reason is because it costs UUUUUU6 total over the course of a lot of turns and even with al ot of artifact mana it's just too slow.

I've pulled this guy off 3 times, all 3 times I won. Others I lost.

Love the flavor text.

Do not like the size from a Vorthos point of view. This thing is bigger than all but one Eldrazi???

Also, Training Grounds, of course, to get it in turn 4.

Well, IMO spending the full 12 mana to flip it is doing it wrong.

One word: proliferate.

This way better than level-up because you can dump mana at instant speed.

And stating the obvious: 13/13 trample is HUGE.

Definitely a prime candidate for proliferation, he's gonna be fun to run in a deck full ofcounterspells. Unless they've managed to get some really good creatures out they're not going to last more than three turns against 13 trample.

Saw me well in the second round at the prerelease. My mana curve was pretty 3-centric, and so I found myself with one or two open mana occasionally to throw on a counter. Got him up to three counters over the course of a few turns and then spent 4 mana on my turn to transform him into swift doom. It worked well in a Limited format, but won't likely see much else but casual.

remember when krosan cloudscraper was the biggest thing around? Nice with proliferate decks.

Honestly this thing is a lot easier to get out than people are saying. I've played him about seven times (four times in Limited, three in Standard) since I pulled him and got him out five (three times in Limited, twice in Standard) times by paying all of the mana. And each of those five times I won. Furthermore the other two times (once in Limited, once in Standard) when I didn't get him out he was still a threat as I gently put extra mana into him to cause the other guy to panic, thus devoting resources to destroying him.

All in all fairly versatile by sheer intimidation alone, and definitely one of my favorite cards in Innistrad.

That thing is way too small to be 13/13. A cool creature, but a little discretion when using artwork would be nice.

GODZILLA!

@Anguul: how come, then, that a human with a sword (equipment) can hit for heavy damage? You don't know, maybe this thing breathes fire or something. I mean, I'll say it again...

Really can't believe that they approved this art (or the alternate version for that matter)... It's a 13/13 !!! It looks like a 3/3 at most... It should be huge! Towering, trampling, crushing, all-consuming... I guess the art de***ion is just way off --> "It's an experiment that's gone horribly wrong because the monster almost fills the entire lab from ceiling to floor and is crushing equipment, cracking walls, and maybe even destroying the ceiling as it pushes up against it"
Pretty big lab if it can, almost, house a 13/13...
As I love huge creatures, this one's a big let down... Not in how it works, but all because of the art...

Playing devil's advocate here, I would say that as a 13/13 yes, it could look more impressive. But it lacks the crazy abilities that its fatty brethren have that truly symbolize a monstrous, world-beating creature.

In the case of the Eldrazi, I'd say their gigantic and terrifying nature is represented better by Annihilator than their stats. In Progenitus' case, the whole "protection from everything" thing. Etc.

Fun things to do:
- Proliferate with multiple copies of it on the field.
- Somehow turn it into a Human, then cast Moonmist (only standard card is Xenograft though, and by that point you might as well have paid it out already). Something like first turn Imagecrafter, or Amoeboid Changeling?
- Once you've flipped it, use a token generator like Cackling Counterpart or Rite of Replication

It's important to remember that the creature depicted in the art is just a newborn. I imagine it will ultimately grow much larger.

A good way to drive your friends nuts in a multiplayer match is to run B/W, drop a Divine Reckoning and then when someone saves this card you hit it with a Tragic Slip.

From the notes of Ludevic:

Day 1: I've been Pondering a new experiment. All of my creations die to pesky mobs, but perhaps....

Day 2: I've succeeded in creating a specimen that could one day fulfill my hopes. Only time will tell, however.

Day 3: It's definitely showing signs of growth. I had to Unsummon a pesky Werewolf that was sniffing around, but other than that my experiment proceeds with no interruptions.

Day 4: The subject grows steadily. I feel it could have grown faster had I been paying more attention, but I had to Mana Leak that same werewolf again. Maybe when the subject is full grown, I can send it to crush the whole pack.

Day 5: I feel it's close to hatching. I was Pondering again, looking through my old notes, and the subject definitely looks like it is reaching maturity.

Day 6: Hahahaha! HAHAHAHAHA!

Rated less than four? This thing dominated tabletops since Innistrad came out all the way up until Dark Ascension! Magic players are so spoiled nowadays.

I love how this thing is fatter than Progenitus at birth, yet it fits into a laboratory. The egg alone should be like 3 stories tall!

I love that when you look this up in Gatherer, it lists it as a 0-cost vanilla 13/13 trampler. They must've wanted someone to choke on their dinner.

This is instant speed leveling folks. Hold your mana for counters, and if you dont need to spend it, level this guy up a few times.

Also look how big he is compared to the egg. Use your imagination, perhaps he has an accelerated mutation gene and will grow into the size of a krosan cloudscraper? Explaining the 13/13 body of course.

Fun fact: This card used to be a thirteen-armed mutant octopus, according to Maro's blog.
