splinter twin combo deck might see a spike in usage.

Sometimes I think wizards doesn't think when they make cards and then realize "Oh, this card makes an easy turn four infinite combo and its standard (for now), oops"

A very strong card, but it's basically "just" a Pestermite. I liked the fact that the Exarchs of the Brutalizer and Entomber varieties did two different things that fit together mentally.

This card is good on its own, even without Splinter Twin. (Obviously it's much better with it, but still.) I think including these in a budget deck would make for a really good bluff, gettin' the opponent to use up their removal or counter spells.

To all the Splinter Twin combo decks, I have a card that might scare you... it's a common... can you guess what it is???
@Redeemer: Agreed... "Okay, I make 20 copi--...wait...Suture Priest?!?!" dO.ob "Ummmm...19 copies..." *sad face* :c HAHA!! Also, I'm not biased so...

Although seeing Exarch Twin decks is a nice change from stuff like Caw Blade, I'm not a fan of infinite combos unless they get me an epic Timmy win. Although I'm a Johnny.
5/5 for flexibility as well as the combo.

This card should be banned asap. A 2 card instant kill combo is ok, but not when one of them can be played at any time, you could play an instant.
What do you do against EOT Deceiver Exarch and next turn Splinter Twin? If you don't have the exact right answer (read: no sorcery removal) you are dead... this shouldn't be possible in Standard.

@Kryptnyt But thats where you are wrong! Splinter Twin copies come in with haste! So you can spawn 100,000 Deceiver Exarches and attack with every single one!
Suture Priest is an easy counter against this combo for W decks.

I can think of two cards that combo with this that makes this epic win: The first is the obvious one: Splinter Twin The second, is: Kiki-Jiki.

Wow, so this makes those Pestermite + Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin decks that much better. Now you can have 8 of each side of the combo. Or up to 12 untappers, if you feel like splashing white for Sky Hussar.

Guys.. Yeah. If you happen to turn three deceiver exarch and then turn four splinter twin for the win, yeah. you win, turn four, easy two card istawin combo, which I have done multiple times in tournament. It is a great combo that takes a lot of people by surprise. But you have to remember, any instant speed removal spell thwarts the strategy. "If you don't have the exact right answer..."

All of which can be easy 4 ofs main/side in a competitive deck. and not to mention duress and inquisition. The beauty of the combo, I think, is going to come in when people don't play it as a combo deck, but rather as a powerful piece that can pull surprise wins out of nowhere and then be able to switch gears. Yesterday I played a red white and blue control deck with the combo built into it, and I did much better than my friend who ran straight up R/U Splinter Twin. In fact, I even sided the combo out one game which totally screwed with the guys head and made him play around the combo when I didn't even have the combo.

@Leonidus; Sure they do. In fact, they print cards like this with that very thought in mind. A lot of players like combos. If its not going to rock the tournament boards, they aren't going to care. Sure, you can have infinite exarchs with two cards, but to do something with them you need a third card, or to let your opponent respond before his end step. EDIT; Okay, maybe you can attack with all of them since they have haste. I still don't hate this combo.

Nothing like playing Choking Fumes to turn their 10,000 tokens into 0/3s. What's even more fun is making them actually put the counters on.
Has saved my bottom multiple times in my bouncy Venser deck.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Even better, if they have two things tapped from attacking last turn, use the Royal Assassin's tap ability, then drop this guy to untap the Assassin, the tap the Assassin again. Talk about card advantage.

Understandably, most comments here are about Splinter Twin, but that ship has sailed. Still, this card is a powerhouse! Since rotation, the average toughness of utility creatures has dropped. Additionally, with there being a smaller card pool available now, people are falling back on the good ol' Titan cycle/and/or Wurmcoil Engine for win conditions. Exarch can reliably slow your opponent down OR cripple their defenses, whether it's by tapping down a Titan, that untapped Island they were relying on, or netting yourself two blockers they weren't expecting. 5/5

Would this count as a spell that (while on the stack) can activate Livewire Lash when its attached to a creature? If so, my infected lash deck could really use these guys.
Also quite excellent with Twisted Image, play the Exarch, untap your land, twist him to become a formidable 4/1, and draw your card, oh and of couse, WHENEVER YOU WANT! Throw on a pair of Swiftfoot Boots (preferably on the battlefield, of course) for a nice 4/1, flash, haste, hexproof, for 4 mana.

Just recently got a playset of these for my blue mill/control deck. BEST CHOICE EVER.
Modern Naya Birthing Pod can utilize this to go off in a very mind-bending combo that results in a very early and reliable Kiki-Jiki style finish, albeit it will cost you 10 life.
In my own Numot, the Devastator EDH, this guy does double duty as both a Splinter Twin target and helping Numot punch through Maze of Ith type cards. If it's tapped, it can't stop Numot, and if Numot gets through, he blows it up.

T1 Birds of Paradise
T2 Birthing Pod
T3 2-dop creature, probably Thalia or something.
T4 A) Pod the Thalia into Deceiver Exarch, untapping Pod. B) Pod the Birds into Phantasmal Image, copying Exarch and untapping the Pod. C) Pod the now 3-drop Image into Restoration Angel, blinking the first Deceiver Exarch. D) Untap Pod, pod Restoration Angel into Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. Proceed to combo off with Exarch the old fashioned way.
