A total 5/5! Key player in any scarecrow deck, Even moreso than the Reaper King!... try mixing it up with a Deathrender :)

question- if i combine this with sunburst creatures, what will happen? will they have the counters on them?
Elysiume
★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
No. You won't have spent any mana on the casting, so there will be no counters.

A duo of these backing up my Reaper King and my Lockjaw Snappers and my Grim Poppets and you're dead. Fun!

A functional scarecrow, I'm slightly surprised. Sure its fun with the Reaper King, but there are far better artifacts that work amazingly with this card: Inkwell Leviathan, Darksteel Colossus, Sharuum the Hegemon, etc.

how do you make darksteel colossus and this work together? just jokeing, darksteel dosn't lay flat down your 'yard so his never able to be retrieved^^
Sharuum the hegemon and this is quiet interesting. or the grim poppet or even old triskalon.

... I don't see how Darksteel Colossus can combo with this card when whenever he is sent to the grave from ANYWHERE he is instead shuffed back into his owner's deck, so he's always either in play, in your deck or in the 'removed from game zone', so how can Scarecrone combo with it??

Well, I wouldn't say it's IMPOSSIBLE to reanimate Darksteel Colossus with this thing's second ability. If you really, REALLY wanted to show off, you could have DC on the battlefield cast Humility and then proceed by killing him in your preferred manner. When you are ready to reanimate him, all you have to do is then Disenchant Humility (because Scarecrone won't have any abilities, otherwise), and you're good.

Staple in Scarecrow decks. I always fun four of 'em in mine. Combine with Reaper King and Door of Destinies for MA$$IVE amounts of win.

@Master of etherium That's the stupidest thing I've ever read on the gatherer. Congratulations.

why grab sharuum? just grab Magister Sphinx and end it in 2 swings. as for darksteel you can just make stifle the ability then use the crone

That would work... if Colossus' effect wasn't a replacement effect. Colossus never actually goes to the graveyard.

the colossus never hits the GY though. Read the text on it. If it would be put into a graveyard it gets shuffled, not when it hits the graveyard.

There's lots of good combos with this card, but the not so good combos are funny to envision...

Scarecrone: 4, Tap. Return Phyrexian Dreadnought to play.

Phyrexian Dreadnought: *sacrifice trigger triggers, dies*

Scarecrone: 4, Tap. Return Phyrexian Dreadnought to play.

Phyrexian Dreadnought: *sacrifice trigger triggers, dies*

Scarecrone: 4, Tap. Return Phyrexian Dreadnought to play.

Phyrexian Dreadnought: *sacrifice trigger triggers, dies*

Scarecrone: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??!!???!!!!

(Scarecrone is not used to not getting her way.)

Let's have a contest/vote: which artifact creature has the coolest enters-the-battlefield ability to abuse with Scarecrone? (I love that it doesn't need to be a scarecrow.)

This guy is awesome in my Mirrorworks deck. It's awesome with stuff like Myr Battlesphere. Just bring it back for 4 and pay an extra 2 mana to copy it with Mirrorworks!

It's a very threatening card if left alone and can even pop itself if it's about to die. This card is a solid 4.5/5.

What? no. This ability has instant speed. Just hit yourself with some mill and grab the colossus before he shuffles.

Lol, Three Six Mafia reference, I get it :)

This creatures a house in a well built Reaper King deck for EDH. It's funny 'cause everyone seems narrowly focused on his second ability, but it's his first ability that makes him so good. Especially with Survival/Genesis, backed up with his ability he's a one card engine. His first ability is the main reason you want him out, because he offers protection from board sweeps and target removal (stp, duplicant, etc.) so worst case you still get draw.

Really good with Phyrexian Metamorph. Especially in EDH as a lockdown against an opposing general. So annoying!

Great for artifact decks, or even just decks with lots of artifacts in it.

@Drfaustmd
Why only grab Magister Sphinx and have it take 2 turns to kill someone? Why not grab Sharuum the Hegemon who then grabs Magister Sphinx and kill them instantly? If both are in your graveyard, why not get them both in one foul swoop because of Sharuum's ability? Just sayin.

This card is beautiful. Fits perfectly in a Reaper King EDH, which is possible because of Changelings as well. 5/5 stars for it's awesome utility.
Aquillion
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
So awesome. Not only is it a general-purpose artifact reanimator, but if your opponent tries to hit it with removal you can still sacrifice it to draw a card.

Apart from the issue with DC's shuffle replacement, you're also implying there is such thing as "better artifacts" than Reaper King. Reaper King is so cool that his head is the Shadowmoor set symbol.

EDH gold.

Gift of Immortality turns this into- 1: sac Scarcrone for a card during each opponent's turn or in response to them trying to kill/remove it from the game.

Warning: you may loose friends with Martyr's Bond out.
