So, this card is free? Too bad you can only play one each turn.

I think land creatures are a possibility for what the new thing in Worldwake is. Literally, the world awakens and now it's creatures. Maybe not, but I think there's a good chance.

I don't like how it still has summoning sickness. Makes for a bad turn 1 play, but otherwise it seems like a great card.

I love Dryad Arbor just because of how absurd it is. Sadly, I don't consider it to be all that useful. It uses up your land drop for the turn, and the fact that it's also a creature makes it much more vulnerable to removal. Dryad Arbor would be a lot more useful and fun if it didn't suffer from summoning sickness.

it is a huge shame it has somoning sickness. but it a blocker too. i can see it being usefull, and i see it being horrible. it all depends on the hand and the play. personally as long as i get an additional forest in my starting hand with this i have no problem playing it turn 2 and attacking for 3 with my rogue elephant, doesn't slow me down too much... meh i'm sure even with 4 they wont be drawn early game as often as my forests anyway.
Neat design, but in practice is usually too weak outside of dredge decks. These decks use the Arbor as an additional body to sacrifice to flashback Dread Return.

Excellent fun with Soul Foundry. Every time you untap the foundry, you can tap it for zero mana (since Dryad Arbor has a converted mana cost of 0) to create a new land token.

Why is the rating below 4? I don't understand. It's a forest that can also function as a a 0 cost 1/1 with haste. You're already off to a great start if you get this guy to start the game.
This + Freed from the real and some other card which´s name i cant translate from german to english right now equals a big amount of win. That other enchantment makes a land produce one additional mana of any color.
JamminTacoStand
★★★★☆ (4.5/5.0)(2 votes)
It's like two free mana towards Khalni Hydra's cost.
@Nate - It doesn't function as a 0 cost 1/1 with haste. It specifically says it has summoning sickness on the card, in fact.
More importantly, it takes up your land drop for the turn. Which means that if you get it out at the beginning turns, and your opponent finds some way to kill it within a turn or two, you've effectively been time walked. It's potentially setting yourself up for a mana disadvantage.
That said, it's still a very original card, and lends itself to a lot of different combos. This is why I loved Future Sight - lots of interesting design space explored.

MISPRINT!!! There's no way this thing doesn't have Forestwalk lol.
Should have been able to tap for without being able to attack. Since it's so vulnerable, I don't think it would be better than Forest. But otherwise, one of my favorite cards.

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0)(3 votes)
The fact that it's green means it counts toward cards like sapeesp forest, also a forest, and therefore searchable by fetches or cards like nature's lore or yavimaya dryad or wood elves. The fact that it's a creature means that, among other things, it increases the value of lead the stampede and its ilk, not to mention being another body to get overrun bonuses. I very desperately want to build a deck with this, green sun's zenith, and lots of cool utility 1-drops like llanowar mentor, skyshroud ranger, and quirion ranger. Hopefully when the set for this comes out, there will be more ways to abuse it.

This card actually rocks in Legacy. To quote Jon Barber: "It's amazing how many times I've gotten to sacrifice a Windswept Heath to get one of these and block a Dark Confidant." People just forget about Dryad Arbor... they shouldnt.

The last ruling on the card seems "wrong" -- why would it changing land types necessarily change the color? Anyone explain that to me, please?
Bowshewicz
★★★☆☆ (3.2/5.0)(4 votes)
@Paleopaladin: That's because of how effects like "Enchanted land is an island" work. These effects cause the enchanted land to lose any abilities printed on the card, so Dryad Arbor would lose the static ability keeping it green.
Artscrafter
★★★☆☆ (3.2/5.0)(4 votes)
@Paleopaladin: There's a rule that specifically handles the case where a land is set to a basic land type without an "in addition to its other types" clause, where this makes the land lose all of its other abilities. This includes the "Dryad arbor is green" ability. This doesn't affect a permanent's other card types, so this effect doesn't make Dryad Arbor stop being a creature.

I would have loved it quite a bit more if it had haste and defender, or 0 power (and haste).
Not an outstanding card; dies to creature destruction AND land destruction. Can't be tapped when it CIP unless it has haste, can't swing if tapped (although that wouldn't be very smart to begin with). Worst of both worlds, if you ask me. Cool idea, poor execution.

One of the Worldwake preview cards makes every land you control indestuctable.
Edit: @Paleopaladin, that ruling is now gone, if that helps. Dryad Arbor will now stay green if it's land type is changed.

Green sun's zenith: WOW. For (G), shuffle Green sun's into your library, and get the effects of Rampant Growth that is also a 1/1 body. Really though, with these, Green sun's is Rampant Growth for G.

I have a single of this in my EDH deck, it allows me to use Green Sun's Zenith as a very inefficient Rampant Growth...since I can tutor up this guy for {G} by letting X = 0 in Green Sun's Zenith, of course its not a great play, but it works in a pinch and if I drop him early he is a nice target to sacrifice for a Natural Order

It costs no mana.
It can't be countered.
It can be targeted by virtually any green or black fetch spell in the game. It has synergy with Life from the Loam, Fauna Shaman, Crucible of Worlds, Meloku, The Clouded Mirror etc, etc, etc.
It deserves a 5/5. Summoning sickness is a minor thing compared to the options this brings to the table. And are ya really gonna criticize a chump block against a Dark Confidant or Noble Hierarch? No. There's nothing strategically wrong with trading a 1/1 for a 1/1.
So it can be targeted by slightly more removal - but who's giving up slots in their decks for land destruction? Not very many builds these days. It's not like you're playing it for the desperate forest mana.
It's not a free Llanowar Elves, it's worse than that. On second turn with Llanowar you'll have GGG, First turn forest and llanowar, second turn another forest. With this you'll have 2, assuming it's not taken out their first turn. Although the argument that it's also vulnerable to land destruction means basically nothing since people hardly ever use land destruction anyway.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention, when they swing, Teramorphic this out, then Groundswell it for a 5/5 blocker that comes from no where.

I love this card for its originality and its dryad flavor. Dryads are still some kind of 'underdogs' in this game, which makes this card only more interesting.
However, if it wasn´t for my Trostani deck and Green Sun's Zenith, I wouldn´t put it in any deck, since it´s just too vulnerable, especially in a multiplayer game like EDH, where almost every game occurs at least one creature board wipe.
To bring this out on turn one with Green Sun's Zenith is always awesome, though. Technically it´s something like a Rampant Growth for only 1 mana. It also comes great with cards like Gaea's Cradle, or Wayfaring Temple.
Still can`t understand why it doesn`t have forestwalk, though. Every dryad should have forestwalk, IMO, especially this one.

This guy is great if used properly. Some examples...
- You can green sun's zenith this for X=0, giving you a llanowar elf basically. - You can crack a forest fetchland to find this and surprise block. It's very satisfying to block a dark confidant with this. - it can hold equipment.
There's enough value to run 1-2 in a typical deck, and it's worth consideration in an EDH deck. I've cracked a fetchland to find this in response to someone's fleshbag marauder, since I'd rather get stone rain'd then lose my Progenitus.
