use this with basal sliver to create an infinite cycle of creatures coming into play and hitting the graveyard, which you can combine with other related effects such as Deathgreeter (gain 1 life for each) and Scavenger Drake (it gets +1/+1 counters for each). You could give them tap abilities and haste with other slivers as well (they can tap before being sacrificed).

Good Combo: Basal Sliver, HeartStone. Infinite Slivers. For {1} put a sliver into play sacrifice it for {b}{b}, then put two into play, and so on.

Alternatively, you could use Gemhide Sliver, Heart Sliver, and HeartStone for infinite slivers and potentially infinite mana.

This card is just so good. Go look at creatures that have the ability to make creature tokens. At 2 colourless mana - with no other associated costs - for a 1/1, Sliver Queen remains one of the best (if not THE best) in this category. The only direct comparison is Ant Queen, and this was not printed until 2009, eleven years later.

Oh, and the tokens are slivers. I can't stand the tribe, but this card deserves respect. Hail to the Queen!

Great Combo Card. The one Sliver Legend that requires you to build around it the most.

the sliver queen? she died in the Apocalypse, and was never seen again. also if they printed this card in the sliver deck, well u have an infinite sliver combo right there. (heart stone, sliver queen, gemhide sliver, heart sliver) lol mmmm infinite slivers. but this is a very good card and probably the best sliver cos of the combos built around it. not to mention a 5 mana 7/7 with no draw backs except the one of every colour thing.

yes well what happened to her, in the story the Apocalypse happened and wiped out the plane. the slivers scattered and a few survived, with their hive mind gone they didn't know what to do, so they formed another hive mind which was (i think) the sliver over lord, a few select slivers melded together and formed the new hive mind. history repeats and the overlord dies and so they make a new hive mind the sliver legion. thats my understanding anyway.

out of the story, well she is just an old card. old cards just peeter out and die as people move on.

@Ragamander
if u use that card you lose the game
you are mana burn
you pay 2 and add 1 then you pay 2 and add 2 then pay 2 add 3
and so on
you cant use alll mana and you lose
stille_nacht
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
A: mana burn doesnt exist
B: pay one (-1) plus two (+2) pay one (-1) pay one (-1) plus two (+2) is how it would go, no mana burn in the first place anyway.

Forget about combos, the pure token generating power is enough xD, i mean with say a bonesplitter and a muscle sliver, those are 4/2s you are pumping out, and to be fair, by the time you had sliver queen you'd have other slivers too :D

@thrallallmighty: 2 things
1: mana burn doesn't exist any more, WOTC took it out in M10
2: Mana Echoes says you may add X to your mana pool, so once you've gotten out, idk, say 20 billion slivers you can just say, "alright i'm not adding 20 billion to my mana pool" although you technically just could use it for Banefire and have a ton of fun.

The wonderful thing about slivers
is slivers are wonderful things
their bodies are made out of sinew
they've got muscles on top of their wings
they're hasted, trample, shroud, and shadow
plus one
plus one
plus one
but the most wonderful thing about slivers is
there...
is more than one!

Unless she got reprinted in a core set, which even that I highly doubt, there's no reason story-wise to ever reprint it. I don't think WOTC will ever run another sliver cycle again; the slivers we already have are broken as all getout. I can only imagine a deathtouch sliver, infect sliver, wither sliver... /shudder

No. Just, no. Sliver queen is great, but I hope and pray she never becomes T2 legal again.

Basal Sliver + Gemhide Sliver + Heart Sliver + this = infinite slivers and infinite mana
and don't try to tell me it's unlikely just because it's 4 cards, we're talking about slivers here.
Add in Sliver Legion just for fun, but your opponent has probably forfeited by now

@Palutena
Actually, because sacrificing the tokens made by the queen would only result in the necessary amount of mana to summon those same slivers back, you wouldn't be able to get unlimited slivers with only those four cards... you COULD do that however if you had those four cards AND a Heartstone making it so the slivers only took one mana to summon and they could sacrifice for two, then yes you could have unlimited mana and slivers :D
WhiteWizard42
★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
@Nott_Scott: Of course Basal+Queen isn't an infinite combo. That's why Palutena mentioned Gemhide and Heart, too: tap for mana before sacking the creature, and you're up one of any color each cycle.

Also, one of the first creatures to break the standard CC and P/T ratio without a drawback (apart from 5 colours)

Well a 7/7 for five mana is good. With Harmonic Sliver out, this card can destroy artis and enchants for two mana while putting out 1/1 bodies. I'd say this card deserves to have such a high rating.

★★★★☆ (4.5/5.0) (2 votes)
The main reason people use her as a general isn't usually for sliver effects.

I know one regular at my local comic store who uses her, and his deck is just a toy box of good spells and good legendary's.

He doesn't use Mana Echoes. He doesn't use Ashnod's Altar. He doesn't even use Training Grounds.

He doesn't because he already knows that Sliver Queen is amazing, and she doesn't need any help in being amazing. He also thinks it's cheap and lame to do that.

See, sometimes you should play EDH NOT to lose friends. Don't play Ashnod's Altar with Ghave. Don't enchant Curiosity onto Niv-Mizzet. Don't consider Exquisite Blood with Sanguine Bond. Just because you could, doesn't mean you should.

I remember when I first started playing, I tried to make a Sliver deck (this was during Legions, when they came back.) Obviously, I considered Queenie over here. She was 20 bucks at the time... her price has probably gone up significantly since then.

Yeah, this is a pretty sought after card, whether to boost your slivers or to get some infinite combo.

Unfortunately, they can never reprint her: She's on the Reserved List. :(

She's a planeswalker. There's no valid argument against this being the case.

Think about it... There's Sliver Queen, happily clicking and chattering away in her nest, tending to her babies, guarding the legacy artifacts, etc.
Volcano her nest was on erupted. Sliver Queen almost died.
Sliver Queen's traumatic experience ignited her spark, causing her ascension.
Left Rath before the volcano completely killed her.

She's out there... watching, waiting, and now has a spark, meaning she can use extremely powerful magic. It's only a matter of time before she comes out of nowhere with an army of several billion hasted, untargeteable, indestructible, unblockable, and double striking little buggies that can claw their way out of graveyards.

We're doomed. Not even Bolas could handle that ****.

For people saying that this is too cheap and easy to use as a general, there are far more effective things you can do with the broken format of edh
Zur can draw 15 cards off of necropotence the turn after he swings
My personal edh teysavcan go infinite turn 3 and kill all players on the table ( that's god hand realistically it can go off turn 6 consitently killing all damage)
That all being said I don't feel she's that powerful really as an edh general sliver overlord is a much worse having the ability to tutor every turn

Aluren + Recycle + Hibernation Sliver + 2 Soul Warden = Lay down your entire Library on the battlefield, less a few cards. Fill Library full of <3 CMC slivers (Heart, Winged, Musle, Gemhide, Basal) and soul wardens = win. Then you can drop her on the field right before you attack for some insult to injury action.

@dlgn: because "Legend" used to be a creature type instead of the Supertype "Legendary"

Unlike "Sphinx of the Steel Wind" she doesn't even bother asking that question. You. Just. Die.

This card needs a new page on Gatherer for the Commander Oversized card. :/ Oh, well.

When I got ahold of one for $5.00 after Legions released, my sliver deck became public enemy number one at the school lunch table. Thank god I had the foresight to put the deck into sleeves after she showed up. Crystal Quarry and Cryptic Gateway were my solutions to playing her in a GW deck.

This is the first rare that I opened when I started playing. Even though I've only played it a few times, I always pause when I see it in my binder. After all these years, the feeling of awe when I look at this card never fades. Never mind it's the first 5C color card released. This card can only be 5/5 from me.

I traded a couple of Mutavaults a while ago for one of these lovely ladies - THE sliver tribal icon. I'm still polishing up my sliver deck and haven't quite gotten her to go infinite yet with any of my several combos (Purphuros, Mana Echoes -which oddly enough I got from a random grab bag from my local store right when I was getting serious about making my slivers, Phyrexian Altar, blur/heart, manaweft/gemhide, etc. she's the queen, combos galore!). Even so, she's still so fun just to put into play and people really do like to see the Queen appear. I always get a little excited when I see her in my hand, and if you're playing slivers right (they're slivers, not hard to do) then by the time you draw or are able to play big mother she should have a decent little welcoming party from her children. Slivers are just so versatile and awesome and sometimes insanely powerful.

Hang on... sorry did I say sometimes? I meant usually. Of course, nothing but a 5/5. What's to dislike? Magic's color spectrum is certainly a humble price for such a well-known and staple card of its history.
I am very happy to have my queen and never get bored showing friends who have never played against slivers before just how quickly they can dominate the board and explode in power.
